I completely re-made the Moon video I published a few years ago. Warren Moon was a prolific passer with a knack for hitting the deep ball. Was widely regarded as one of the best passers in NFL history. Started his career in the CFL where he won 5 straight Grey Cups. Signed with the Houston Oilers in 1984. Played 17 years, throwing for almost 300 touchdowns and 50,000 yards en route to the Hall of Fame.

I watched Warren Moon during a team practice one morning at the Houston Oilers training camp at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. I have never seen anyone throw the ball like he did that day. Moon was so accurate the balls never touched the ground during that entire practice including 7 on 7 drills. Moon’s spirals were so tight the ball made a whistling sound as it cut through the morning air. It was so amazing to see and hear that I will never forget it.

I disagree about the criticism why he wasn't drafted. In three years at Washington, he threw for less than 3,000 yards and had only one less INT (19) than he did TDS (20). He knew his numbers didn't support a decent draft round, so before the draft, he signed with Edmonton. Signing with Edmonton ensured that no NFL team would waste a decent draft pick on him. No doubt, he was a great QB and proved himself worthy of HOF induction.

Dude, scouts knew how good he was. It was the racist owners and coaches that didn't want a future Hall of Famer because he was black. And lest we forget he lead Washington to Rose Bowl victory in '78 beating Michigan and was the game MVP.

He had over 49,000 yards in the NFL (13th all time) and just over 21,000 in the CFL. That's over 70,000 yards combined which would put him 5th all time just behind Favre. It's a shame he was denied a shot by the bigoted NFL for so many years. That's how the NFL was for a long time when it came to black QBs.

Warren Moon was on the verge of breaking the all-time passing record. With enough time left all he needed was a short pass. With time to spare... "THEY" pulled him out. "THEY" weren't going to have a Black man surpass the all time passing record. In that game he threw for 427 yards. But he will always be remembered as one of the all time great Quarter Backs......

Respectfully, Warren Moon should be considered the G.O.A.T. at the QB position in the NFL. Not only did he have a cannon for a arm with a red dot laser beam but he could also scramble amazingly well. All during a time when the rules of protecting the QB wasn’t so overly protective and he wasn’t treated fairly only because of the tone of his skin.

I've heard he was basically a lot like Dan Marino coming out of college in that his arm talent and ability to read coverages was so much better than most NFL QBs at the time. The Run & Shoot had a lot of similarities to modern, spread-to-throw NFL offenses with two-man "route-combinations" to either side on most plays that you just can't do from a power-I or pro-set
