I watched Warren Moon during a team practice one morning at the Houston Oilers training camp at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. I have never seen anyone throw the ball like he did that day. Moon was so accurate the balls never touched the ground during that entire practice including 7 on 7 drills. Moon’s spirals were so tight the ball made a whistling sound as it cut through the morning air. It was so amazing to see and hear that I will never forget it.

I disagree about the criticism why he wasn't drafted. In three years at Washington, he threw for less than 3,000 yards and had only one less INT (19) than he did TDS (20). He knew his numbers didn't support a decent draft round, so before the draft, he signed with Edmonton. Signing with Edmonton ensured that no NFL team would waste a decent draft pick on him. No doubt, he was a great QB and proved himself worthy of HOF induction.
@Frank-gw1zs11 ай бұрын
Dude, scouts knew how good he was. It was the racist owners and coaches that didn't want a future Hall of Famer because he was black. And lest we forget he lead Washington to Rose Bowl victory in '78 beating Michigan and was the game MVP.

Respectfully, Warren Moon should be considered the G.O.A.T. at the QB position in the NFL. Not only did he have a cannon for a arm with a red dot laser beam but he could also scramble amazingly well. All during a time when the rules of protecting the QB wasn’t so overly protective and he wasn’t treated fairly only because of the tone of his skin.

Warren Moon was on the verge of breaking the all-time passing record. With enough time left all he needed was a short pass. With time to spare... "THEY" pulled him out. I've heard he was basically a lot like Dan Marino coming out of college in that his arm talent and ability to read coverages was so much better than most NFL QBs at the time.
