Warrior was my first class i ever reached 60 on. The grind was definitely the most difficult, time consuming and anger inducing experience I've ever had, but the adventure along the way is one i will never forget. I'll never forget massive pvp battles in shimmering flats, slaying drakes with groups in Badlands, accidentally pulling 1 extra mob and having to walk 1200+ yds to my corpse... Beautiful game

Warrior was the first class I leveled and was my main all the way to Wrath. My memories of leveling was it being a slow frustrating grind, constantly having to eat and often needing help to complete tougher quests/kill certain mobs that a lot of classes could easily solo. You'll get sick of hearing "Not enough rage!" and "I'm out of range!" both in PvE and PvP. This however is worth putting up with as once you reach BWL and more specifically AQ40 (so many amazing Fury warrior items in AQ40) you become an absolute DPS god and these items were also best in slot for PvP. Once you have the gear for PvP you shred through clothies and Rogues in seconds, it's satisfying. I was also Main tank for my guild (we made it to the early bosses in Naxx before TBC was released) and relied upon heavily so if your planning on becoming MT just remember you'll be expected to attend every raid and will never be subbed out. You'll also have an easy time joining groups for dungeon runs as everyone needs a tank. Also another negative is that it can be very expensive to play a warrior as your wearing plate and repairing it costs more than it would for cloth, leather or mail and the better your gear the more it costs. If you're an Off tank in your guild you'll be expected to have a set of DPS gear when bosses don't require as many tanks which also means you have to pay to respec often. My overall memory of playing Warrior was it was an awful lot of fun to play although frustrating at times but once you get the gear then you dominate most classes in PvP or will be at the top of the DPS meters in raid or vitally needed as a tank. I would say if your planning on playing casually then it's probably not going to be the best class for you. The only thing I regret is that I never managed to obtain Thunderfury, Blessed blade of the Wind Seeker.. but what an awesome weapon it was!

I leveled a Night Elf Warrior to 40 or so in Vanilla and think people make it out to be way harder than it actually is. As long as you keep your gear and weapon up to date, and carry pots and bandages, it isn't THAT hard. Maybe a bit slow and more expensive to level would be the better description.

4:17 - 4:23 Or a 60 main/alt that can funnel money to your warrior to keep them consistently overgeared while s/he's leveling. This is what I do. Granted, it's not efficient, but lvling a very well-geared warrior is one of the most fun things in classic; for me at least. Also, it's not that expensive to keep a warrior well geared while lvling using lvl 60 funds.

My personal experience as an olde timey Warrior; I started playing WoW about October of 2006. I wasn't really sure about the game at first, but I was in love with the lore set up by the RTS games and knew I wanted to be an Orc Warrior. Levels 1-3 were... bland. Pretty dull. But then level 4 rolled around, I learned Charge, and I knew that no other class would appeal to me in the same way. Warlocks were a pretty close second, but whenever I wasn't playing my Warrior I kinda felt like I wasn't playing the game. My love for the class was strong, and that's what helped ease the pain of leveling. By the time I hit level cap, it was September of 2008. I wasn't able to play as much as I would have liked thanks to being in the Navy and not really having internet for half the year (and spending the other half of the year trying not to fall asleep at 3 AM making sure locked doors are still locked). When I did play, I never really pushed too hard for levels; I was more focused on just questing and enjoying the world. But still. Almost the entirety of an expansion to go from 1 to 70. Warrior leveling was *slow*. It was sometimes painful. As for grouping up, I was invited into two dungeons (Sunken Temple and Hellfire Ramparts) and taken along as a sort of mascot for three raids (Mag's twice, Gruul's once). No dungeon group wanted me because I wasn't geared, even though I spent as much time and energy as I could into making sure Blacksmithing kept me from falling too far behind. No guild wanted me because they already had main and off tanks and too many DPS. I damn near quit the game at that point, and sometimes I wish I had, but Wrath of the Lich King was right around the corner so I knew I wouldn't be stuck at the moronic hell that was level cap much longer. Dear reader, If you want to be a Warrior in Classic, know every dungeon inside and out. Don't be afraid to form groups of your own, and accept the fact that you'll be the tank. Otherwise, prepare to put in a lot more effort to get a group than anyone else. Melee puts you in harm's way more often than a ranged class, your severe gear dependence means that pretty much any other class will do more damage for less effort, your only form of Crowd Control can be better described as Crowd Chaos, and there are literally dozens just like you clamoring for the same spot. Even if you volunteer to tank, be prepared to be kicked as soon as someone in the group is mildly uncomfortable with your health pool. I can't speak for end game in the early years, before the days of welfare epics and catch up mechanics, but I'm comfortable in making the assertion that if you're not rolling a Warrior at launch and staying on the absolute bleeding edge of gear progression at all times, you're going to be in for a bad time. Do not stop to smell the flowers. Do not rest, do not take a break, do not bother with professions aside from First Aid, devote yourself entirely to cranking out levels as quickly as you can and then work even harder. One or two months after launch when probably up to a quarter of people are 60, you'll be in a good spot to get into many groups because there are so few people to choose from. Three or four months after launch, when a solid majority of launch day players are either gearing up for raids or are already getting some raid gear, it'll be far too late to join in on the fun. Nobody will want you in their group because you'll siphon the gear they need to shard for enchants, and you'll just slow them down anyway. But if you manage to persevere and make it into a good guild and get those phat lewts before they go into the shard pile, you'll be the envy of a ton of Warriors out there. Well, the envy of a lot of people, really. Not only will you look fantastic, you'll be fantastic on the meters and every group will want you to lead them. So the legend goes.

PS: for that Sunken Temple quest if you're going to be mainly DPS then pick Diamond Flask. It's OP as hell - one of best DPS trinkets in the game for warriors. Between that and Blackhand's Breadth you'll be set for a while for trinkets (which are rare AF in classic). Also, while T1/2/3 were all tank sets the AQ set Conquerer's Battlegear was for DPS warriors. Still though you mostly end up using random pieces instead of any sets as a DPS warrior - including leather because Agi actually is still pretty decent for warriors in classic - you get 1% crit for every 20 agi at level 60.

6:03 It isn't an uneasy choice, it's an obvious choice: Diamond Flask. 150 AP for a whole minute is BONKERS even at 60, in addition you can use outfitter and a hotkey to equip a whole set of +heal gear, use the trinket and then switch your gear back on. You will be left with a bunch of empty HP but have a HOT on you for a whole minute that can easily go into multiple thousands of healing, since each healing tick has a 1:1 scaling off addheal. At +400 addheal, which is realistic to come by, you will regenerate 400+9 each 5 seconds for a minute. 60:5=12x409=4818 total healing. Using this method, you are able to solo many elites and have a huge advantage in pvp, especially duels where prepping it is easy.

@@addisonratliff6693 Diamond flask gives 75 strength for a full minute which is massive (150AP without multipliers). For shorter fights such as the drakes in BWL it is best in slot since no other trinket is even close to providing that amount of AP for such a long time. It is also very useful for fights that has "need to be nuked"-phase where overall dps isn't as important as the burst dps during the nuke phase.

Warrior leveling is easier than people remember. If you don't stand there and tank every mob auto attack, and instead use a swing timer addon and hamstring the mobs to kite them. So roughly every 3.5 secs you get an auto attack as a 2H arms warrior, while mobs attack much faster. You hamstring and kite the mob while charging your auto attack. Then run/jump through them and only take 1 hit instead of 2 or 3 possible hit by just standing in one spot. You effectively take half the damage, and keep yourself busy by not standing in one spot. P.S. Don't forget, spirit gear drastically speeds up health regen (out of combat, but at fast rates) and lowers the cost of food and potions
@cattysplat5 жыл бұрын
Yep there is a lot more you can do than just stand there autoattacking, spamming cooldowns and taking hits. Hamstring/piercing howl and intercept back in for 3 seconds guaranteed hits on stunned target, improved overpower completely destroys with impale and deep wounds and procs more dodges with duel wield which you can weaponswap to a 2hander, stance dance and use all your skills to maximise output and survivability whilst mortal strike/bloodthirst and whirlwind are on cooldown. I loved levelling warrior so much I did it twice in Vanilla, one as arms and one as fury, i found fury easier to level with many more 1 handers to choose from, arms isn't amazing until mortal strike at 40 and fury's talents are almost all strong and useful. All the different weapons makes it great fun and regening health has many proactive options like bandaging and cooking unlike mana. No fussing around with stealth and energy like a rogue, if you got skills, big balls and some health in your bar you can keep on fighting until the last hit point. Plus healers LOVE you, you will have perma friends with healers 24/7 if they know your a good warrior and with a good healer you are unstoppable, go 2 man some battlegrounds or dungeons for big fun.
@grubi4505 жыл бұрын

@@@phoenixgaming4185 Community's gone after being deliberately undermined by Blizz for years. The only people who have liked WoW since Wrath imo are people who don't care whether there is a community or not, which is just weird to me. Why play an MMORPG then? Or rather why play one and then complain about how hard it is until it stops being one, which is my take on what happened to WoW. In TBC there was an attunement chain for Karazhan I believe, that ended with a timed run in the hardest heroic dungeon. It was just such a wonderful noob-test. People whined and whined about it all through TBC because they couldn't do it, until it was removed sadly. They couldn't start raiding before they had done this and there was no other way of gearing up than crafting and doing five mans, and improving in various ways from that. Practice and skills you really needed if you wanted to raid anyway. The perfect progress gate. They should never have gone away from this simple stuff.

I had a warrior as my main in the vanilla days, everything said here is true. Gear, gear, gear and about zero survive-ability in solo PvE is what warriors are about. Especially when raiding you need a lot of favors from your guild to turn you into the main tank with crafted gear and loot prio. There was a arms(5)/prot (15)/fury (31) build we used a lot for the dps/offtank warriors back in the day. In DPS you relied on fury talents for damage, but in tanking you'd use the fury tree's speed increases to generate loads of threat when taking damage.

But my plan this time is to level up both a prot pally and a shaman … (self-healing tanks on low pop servers) and then, when 58 and ready to go through the Dark Portal, I will just go to the WoW store and buy a “reclass one character to Warrior tank spec” for $100 or so … ( I feel pretty certain Bliz will have some way by the time I am ready to get a warrior to 58 without having to actually play a warrior ) Forgive my irony. I actually love warriors … just can’t afford the cost of all the necessary therapy. Great video!

I was never interested in WoW until late BC and I still have no desire for classic now, especially since I feel a lot of the systems are outdated and what I'd consider far more hardcore than when it was current content. But I absolutely love your enthusiasm and knowledge for classic and still watch these vids because it's a lot of stuff thats cool to learn about the original vision and a lot of it I think would be nice to see back. Like having multiple different builds done through talents. Yes you can do something like this now with covenants and legendaries in Shadowlands, but it's not even close to the same level of depth and you are still a predominantly identity in terms of spec; which is something I don't like about WoW now. Like you put daggers on as Outlaw and can't dispatch - why? You put a sword on as sub, you can no longer backstab, fine, but why can't I have the option to have hemo back? I am aware that is suboptimal for PvE but it's what made PvP in all its broken iterations fun, because there was so much you could do. Yes it's why the games PvP was always broken but history has proven we will accept broken PvP when it's fun. It's why people even speak of Mists fondly. Every class/comp combination almost was so fucked that anything worked, and that's why it was considered to have two of the best seasons in the games history - as you could play virtually anything you wanted.

What I think makes the Vanilla Warrior great is also what makes it kinda suck. That's the sort of blank slate design of the Warrior so it is very boring to play solo as it can easily feel bland and un interesting but playing with just 1 other person changes the formula so drastically add a mage and now you can AOE kill you get free food,your weapon skill imporves,add a rogue now that rogue can pop off backstabs easier with out having to stun enemies,Hunter now you don't wind up needing to kite enemies and any healer and you can chain kill mobs ect. The warrior complements other class designs and each class enhances or opens up gameplay options for the warrior

I agree with everything you said. My biggest mistake in playing Vanilla WoW was making my first main character a warrior. It was rough. Yes, leveling was slow. Doubly so when you're half way through killing a mob and some Horde came up behind you and started ganking, you had no hope. The talents were terrible. I remember I could spend 5 talent points on my rogue and see a difference in how he performed. I could spend 10 talent points on my warrior and see no improvement. Yes, warriors live and die by their gear. Good luck in getting any though. My average gear was 5-8 levels below my character while leveling. I remember using a blue pally shield from some instance for at least 10 levels just because it was the best I found (and I was already a couple levels above it when I found it.) The three warrior stances made little sense. I understand with what the company was trying to do with them, but still... Losing half of your well-earned rage just to "stance dance" a little hurt. A warrior should have all skills available at all times, but they don't. Then there was aggro. This was a term I had no understanding of when I began the game. I saw people using it but never really understood it until my warrior was level 20 or 25. Then learning how to generate it took some reading. Even then, go into an instance and start tanking a couple mobs and the idiot spell casters target a third and pull him away from you. Then they start complaining about how you're not tanking properly. Arrrrrgggghhhh! Everyone assumes Taunt is usable twice a second. It's not, folks! It's available once every 5 seconds or so. Warriors were simply an exercise in frustration. Okay, sure, when they hit 60 and got decent gear they came into their own and everyone loved them. (I still remember doing a PUG Zul Gurub raid and actually getting praise from the raid leader.) Leveling to 60 though...

Couple of notes to OP. 1) Changing stances as a Warrior was known as stance dancing, in pvp- you would change stance almost all the time, ba/be when up close and def when out of range. 2) In PvP- skilled HWL/GM warriors would use Sword+Shield and 2h swap macros to fight any melee class and no rogue could kill a warrior, no matter how hard they tried. 3) Warriors are heavily gear capped, their DPS/tanking is all dependent on the gear, you can be the most skilled warrior and be trashed everywhere cause you haven't got the right gear. 4) You missed a vital warrior pvp talent- getting piercing shout was the daddy of all abilities for warrior, not only could it reveal rogue/druid stealth but its an aoe slow too which meant that even if you couldn't get your hamstring on the target, piercing shout would do just fine.

Good effort on the vid overall. However, slightly wrong about the leveling, your numbers of parry etc are on point, but the the leveling process does not require you to eat every kill if done correctly. Opener from lvl 8 on is as follows, Charge > auto > rend/Hamstring > run away wait for swing timer to reset > heroic strike > run and wait for swing timer to reset > heroic strike, etc etc. By doing this it reduces the damage taken back significantly. I know you don't mention it, but warrior can also choose to level in dungeons similar to healers, prompting fast leveling whilst building a friends list and even potential of making/joining a raiding guild on the way. A warrior that is willing to tank will always find groups for dungeons. If you can convince the healer your really good try to tank with DPS since warrior base mitigation is good enough for standard dungeons, and holding aggro is easy since your doing top damage anyway, you take the group whilst the main DPSers like the mage kites and blows up individual targets, rogues can also handle 1v1 elites very well with evasion and lots of free dodges, it's not as hard to heal this as it might seem, forcing sword and shield on dps warriors feels really bad in dungeons and prot spec is very weak outside of raiding. If people hate solo leveling warriors so much they should definately give the dungeon farming life a go.

I like the class Warrior in WoW for these reasons: (Note that they are subjective, and I’m talking about Classic WoW (mostly Vanilla and TBC) when I write these things.) • Warrior is the ”main class” of all melee attacker classes in WoW. • Warriors have rage, and that fits if you need to deal with anger or frustration as a real person in real life. • Warriors really know how to fight properly and not be a wimp that people can do whatever they want with, and then you feel that you really can defend yourself against things, if you play Warrior. • Warriors have no magic, and you can say that physical hits and stuff hurts the most and makes the most sense, when you really want to let out your anger against someone you’re angry with. • And probably some more reasons, that I can’t think of right now as I write this comment. Anyway, 1. At least I used to think these ways earlier in my life, when I had problems with bothering memories, that I ”dwelled on” with anger and/or frustration, and I fought them from time to time almost every day. But today, fortunately, my ”angry dwelling problems” seem to have decreased from 100% to 7%. 2. Although the problems with the Warrior class in WoW if you ask me, is that they are so weak, and it’s not as easy for them to take down normal mobs in higher level, as it is for other classes. Plus that warriors don’t have as ”remarkable” skills and abilities as (all) other classes. As far as I have seen sometimes on KZbin and in the chat channels in classic WoW, it appears to me that I am NOT the only one who thinks that about the class Warrior in WoW. Or?

BUT dying 1000 times while leveling because I "Missed" and Execute.... feels bad man.

Only lvl 24 but I'm finding mine a pain in the arse to level, surprisingly squishy, hoping it gets better at some point

Imp cleave was never worth using. the actual increase in damage is very very low and thus not worth the 3 talents.

Yeah it's like 60% more bonus damage which is rougly 40 or so damage since Cleave max rank has pretty bad bonus damage. Cleave is also a spell you only take level 1 all the way till 60 since it adds almost no damage and will cost you tons of gold.

What race for Horde would you recommend that would do well overall PVE and PVP?

Whatever race looks best to you. Racials don't mean much to warriors (they all have their perks). Horde warriors already have it extremely good because of Windfury totem access and no paladins to compete with for gear.

Hell yea it was good enough! Once you survived leveling up, you were on a path to ascend to godhood. Here's my quick take, based on WillE's parameters: 1. Leveling: how good were they? Bad. How fast could they level? Slow - the slowest, actually. 2. Class quests: what they for, how well did they fit? Frey Island at 30 to get 'zerker stance is one of the best class quests in the game. 3. PvE, dungeon and raid performance: I wonder how the only tank class in the game did at PvE? Hmm. Seeing 29 Warriors in a BWL run in Classic should tell you the rest. Note however that Warriors were (and are) very gear dependent. Your mileage may vary. 4. PvP, solo/battlegrounds: A warrior with a pocket healer or two is god mode. In duels, it was either: they had no chance, (rogues, fire mages) could go either way (hunters, shamans), or a roflstomp (shadow priests, frost mages). So, not bad, by Vanilla balance standards. 5. Forgotten today is how controversial T2 Wrath was when introduced. If you've heard it referred to as the "can opener set" this wasn't originally meant as a friendly jibe. Otherwise, T0, T1 and especially T3 are some of the most iconic Warrior tier sets ever.
