you splice that with the tea scene, between her and Sister Lilith it shows a character who notices things and wishes to help. The subtle moments in this show are the most powerful in rewatch.

I love the dynamic between Ava and Beatrice. I feel like they provide insight and balance to one another on a deep level. Maybe one way to try to say it would be that Ava has such a refreshing and unintimidated irreverence, while Beatrice has such an admirable and mature reverence.

I agree with you that I don't think Ava even knows her own sexual (for lack of a better word) preference. At this point it is obvious that Ava cares for Beatrice and she may be infatuated with her, but I'm not sure she knows why she feels that way. It's quite possibly could be because Beatrice is the first person in years (outside of the boy in the orphanage) to be nice to her. She had spent so many years in a bed hating life that it's very likely she never even thought about boys or girls that way. I wonder if they will show her learning about that side of herself. With how this show uses her inner monologue I think they could do an amazing job portraying that if they put the effort into it.

that would be adorable, a monologue in her mind about that. I think Beatrice feels something, but seeing that Ava wasn't sure she didn't proceed. because I honestly thought for a second that she was going to kiss her

The producer and creator of the show promised that their relation will evolve in a similar way to what you described and he also confirmed that IT IS BOTH WAYS In my opinion I see their relation evolve in a way not much diferent from the way Xena and Gabriele's relation evolved through their show years ago

This is a slow and steady build up show. I love it :-)

Honestly I didn't like this tv show much at first, I just keep seeing because it was fascinating they decided to shoot it in my country, and I was like positive surprise about how they portrayed it, because I'm to use to see Spain portrayed in a wrong way in movies and shows. But here not. The entire show takes place in the south of Spain, which is very different from other regions of the country, and they use local actors and all, and it was pretty good portrayal. But after that episode of Marry and Eva bonding together I finally get hooked for the story and characthers of the show. I ended liking it a lot, more than expected.

Yeah I've seen quite a few people not give the show enough time but you're right the episode with Ava and Mary was the slowest 'best' episode (or best 'slowest' episode?) of a TV show in quite awhile. The show, like Ava's character and just about every portrayal (of Spain, of the Church, of relationships, of squatters, of adventure, etc..) is all about a confident and understated subversion. Nothing is taken seriously but at the same time it can be quite moving.

Ylva. ..lesbuch...so many of us had a terrible time coming out. My mother said she wished that I had never been born, but that since I had, she wished I would die. Very difficult but after 40 years I was able to forgive her.

The Church has no issue with gay...but with same sex marraige... For out of the 7 sacraments Christ instituted.. It is marraige that He said was not established by Him but by the Father in the beginning of time. If Christ did not touch that which was initiated by the Father...the Church has no authority to do that as well... so it so unfair to force the Church to go against that.

“God” also told people not to eat anything from the waters that didn’t have fins or scales, but you don’t see Christian’s damning people who love scallops and crab to Hell 🤷🏼

@@dvdhr1 I didn’t pretend to be anything. And I’m definitely not agnostic. Life is pure untameable chaos. “God” has nothing to do with it. I just pointed out a contradiction in the way that the rules that “god” supposedly set out are followed by different people. The bibles pretty strict about some weird stuff. Like bowl cut hair cuts. And playing football, pre-leather balls 😅

I am going to say something and be fine with the blowback, I have not felt this way about characters, the way I do about each and everyone of these characters at this point, since "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I get some people say that the first part was slow, but for me, the effort it put into the interactions of the cast and the locales was so well worth it and pays off in scenes like Sister Camila and Sister Lilith and the "nettle tea", Shotgun Mary and Father Vincent in the car and Ava and Beatrice and the "why are you so mad at me?" scene. I am a big fan of this show
