It was hard not to spoil this. The devestation in Ava's face really got me specially when she said "mother". Its the first time Ava has a mother figure. okay, this is all my personal theory on how adriel's powers work but the crux of it is that he needs you to believe/buy in to one of the things he tells you. for vincent it was that the church was corrupt and doing evil shit. and looking at the catholic church, there's kind of an orgy of evidence and with vincent's background of hired muscle, it's not hard to start seeing parallels. so vincent believes/buys in to what adriel is selling. adriel now has a foothold in vincent and can influence him, convince him to do lesser evil for the greater good (kill a warrior nun to release an angel) and so on and so on. if you rewatch season 1 with this in mind, it becomes more and more apparent that vincent is losing it at all the shit he's doing in adriel's name. ep 1 had him go to a bar even though he's sober after such hard work. he breaks the glass before telling mary he dropped his drink. man's losing his cool. anyway, adriel needs a receptive mind to buy into his shit. and there are limits to how far his influence can go. so with vincent, adriel was careless and pushed vincent too far (evidenced by him turning to drink in s2e1). kristian was always a devout and religious man, catholicism just pushed him too far. but he wants to believe, the faintest most threadbare shred of evidence is enough for him to believe and the evidence of michael being spoken to by an angel was enough to make a devote follower of him. lilith wanted answers and he gave them to her, dangled power in front of her eyes and played to her vanity and pride. and it worked. vincent was someone adriel misread. adriel thought that vincent would be down to do terrible deeds in the name of god but he was wrong. vincent when confronted with the fact that demons were real wanted to pin his past misdeeds on them, but was told that he did that shit of his own freewill. after that he dedicated himself to using his heinous skills for good. adriel misread vincent and so lost his hold over him. he read kristian right enough that he could maintain his hold over him and the same goes for lilith. however, once his control and influence is removed, they can look back at their actions and go wtf. so his control over vincent, kristian and lilith is not mind control. i call it the voice of saruman effect. or would wormtongue be more apt? i dunno. there is some magic to it, like charm or something, but it isn't outright mind control.

I've recently binged Warrior Nun and your reactions are SO fun and relatable. I love Shotgun Mary so much and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that if Mary was still here, Lilith wouldn't have joined Adriel. I seriously want to see more of their relationship next season. Both past and present if Mary's brought back.

I can't believe that u are nearly finished the show! if you need ideas for shows you should watch any one of these feat street trilogy willow the movie and series fisk one of us is lying the owl house shera and the princesses of power arcane they are great shows that have good representation and a great plot/ story line and the characters in these shows are very loveable. Father Vincent once said that the Tarasks are heaven's gatekeepers, and it makes sense that the Crown comes from heaven, so every time Ave has a crown induced "dream" she is seeing heaven. There are obviously two realms, heaven (Raya's / God's place) and hell, (Adreil's, or Satan's place.) The Tarasks are tasked to retrieve the halo and keep it out of Adriel's grasp. What will Ava learn when she visits heaven in her dream? And did you notice Mother Superion's scar is gone? The halo restored her, like it did Ava. Great reaction, Adam, Now, hang on to your seat, this is gunna be a bumpy ride. Cheers.

I thought that Adriel pushed the Divinium out to cut Vincent and therefore Ava off from the connection with him they were exploiting. But I also don’t get why they couldn’t use the sword when they could use the tattoos, and why Michael doesn’t have the same ability. Not sure!

It's never explained in the show why not every believer gets possessed. I think the possessed people are sort of mindless drones who can follow orders but aren't creative. The true believers are more valuable as is because they can use their free will to be ruthless and creative for the cause like Kristian and Vincent. The risk, of course, is defection.
