Can you test out the e flex thigh rise? The dualite core tech in the thigh rose makes it seem like it’s rock solid

Unfortunately I don't have access to a pair of Eflex pads to try that against.

hey mate, can you share your experience then about soft and stiff pads. is it so then - that all the soft pads gradually turn in to something not realiable that doesnt seal ice incely and close 5hole? thats what impression i got after watching your reviews. or there are soft pads that are doing well all those things? the thing is i dont really like to stiff pads because i am very active on ice and usually very deep stance... what could you say and recommend for me please, thank you very much !

in addition to my question. is there something like soft pads, flexible in general but with stiff thigh rises for better butterfly performance ?

So there are basically 3 different forms of stiffness in pads. Across the face stiffness (that is the bending the face of the pads test), torsional flex, and knee & thigh rise stiffness. If a pad has poor across the face stiffness (older Warrior pads, Vaughn pads that aren't stiffened) then over time the core will bend and the pads will no longer seal as well as they did. Plus them being softer generally let more pucks through them. If you check out this video you can see the results of a pad loosing its shape (kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6GTXmqqg8aeh7c) Torsional flex is basically how much the top to bottom of the pad can twist. More torsional flex allows the pad to move better with your leg and allows you to lean into them more. Bauer is basically the opposite of torsional flex. Knee & this stiffness also contribute a lot to stopping pucks, as a break below the knee allows the pad to flex and pucks can go through. But this isn't REALLY as big of an issue as across the face stiffness. Brian's GNetik V pads show that off for an example (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaDRlKOLjKymq7c). Brian's GNetik V are a solid pad where they stiffened above the knee to help with the bending and thigh issues, but still have a softer at and below the knee feeling. They are a very solid mix if you can get used to the stiffer and straighter thighs. I feel like their is a strange notion that active and athletic goalies need softer pads as stiff pads get in the way or something. Vasilevskiy, Shesterkin, & Sorokin are all extremely mobile and active and use pretty stiff and straight pads. I think the biggest issue is the stiffer thighs can get in the way of each other, and instead of modifying their game or adjusting thigh rise height (obviously not easy to just order new pads as a retail customer) people instantly give up and go back to what they are used too. It ultimately comes down to personal preference that will make the decision, but people write stuff off very quickly to go back to what they are used to using.

@@HockeyReviews thanks for reply! Yes,i think i can get used to stiif thigh rises. In first video Brians optik 2 looks ok, are they also soft in knee area and bottom? Did you try them for some time? And so you recommend as good golden way gneticV then? Sorry that i kind repeat questions, english is not my mother language and its quite technical topic, just to make sure... So gnetik V would be good way to go, right? And which ones would take second place right after them (just due to money concerns)? Thank you verymuch

Optik 2 were stiffened in the thigh with the MAX core compared to the Optik 1. But it depends on what core of the Optik 2 pad people bought. I have a set, but they are custom and stiffer than a stock retail set. I think GNetik V would be a decent choice for you, but pads are VERY VERY personal preference and other pads could still work fine for you so I wouldn't really limit yourself to specific ones. If you can ever to see them in person and try them on, do that and get what is comfortable.

Wow, those G5 look so flimsy. I'm sure in real game scenarios it's not as sketchy, but the slow motion makes it look ridiculously unreliable. Kinda glad my pads are thick as hell on the thigh rise lol.
