The place where time stands still, pain, tears, fear, vomit is part of the soil, minimal sleep, food, internal and external conflicts get resolved, and where men are turned into Warriors...., BRAGG! 82 ABN 1BCT

I was on the Fort Carson Boxing Team back in 94 and Fort Brag was always tough. They were always the team that people noticed were there. They always had a super boxer, lol. I grew up in SC 40 minutes away, and my uncle who was in the Navy took us to a boxing match in Fort Brag.

The Captain said something that is SO True you cannot learn CQB in combat first... It can save your life especially when you look at Syria, Isis etc and they are training KIDS in CQB that are half these guys ages.. We need to instill the fact that in Combat there are NO Rules in a Fight... Sorry but my guys lives mean more to me than my life..

Great film! Thanks for a look at how far the combative program has come since I was in. I took part in and won the heavyweight division of the first ever 82nd Airborne combative tournament. That was way back 2002. It was grappling and submissions only.

Combatives has been part of BCT/OSUT since 2000/2001ish (2002 for sure). Obviously not to the high level shown in this video, but EVERY PVT has a series of matches that they must fight in. This is an outstanding video and my respect to all in this and especially to the A-team (close family friends that know who I am talking about).

just Subbed to your channel the other week (Thanks Matt Best), and I been watching alot of your vids n messages. I did several West PACs while in the Navy and its good to know that your humor is in the right places and thank you for that. Just watched this video and tho it was a couple years ago, I was kinda pissed how the mentioning of "budgets" was so truthfully used in it. From the past years since I been out, I and numerous old Salty Dogs as well, we seen how America's military is getting really soft and we'll "pussified". Not having a budget for things like this to keep our troops in tip top shape and combat ready is just another way for our country to get soft and bitch about alot of crap. The defence dept rather spend money in the wrong places and not on our service members where we really need it. This was a great movie and keep up the good work.

I appreciate this video and all the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice just so I could go to sleep at night and live my life when I get older I want to go to the army and be a green beret because that’s what my grandpa was in Vietnam and he don’t really talk about the killing and all though he has to me a few stories about him killing people but never talks about his brothers dying and stuff like this just makes me appreciate you guys

Awesome video, had they had this in the 90's when I was in, I might have stayed in longer I agree with the sentiment that a few had, this should be part of every Soldier's basic training, the "hand to hand" combat training we had was even to my cherry eyes woefully pathetic, for us, less than a day with a few tosses, we spent more time in the bayonet training that has a whole lot less usefulness, IMO

I don't think its really good to make sport out of combat training , like ancient greek games warriors. Somehow I think school wrestlers wanted to make a competition out of their wrestling skills , who enlisted. I was a school wrestler as a kid , it was a game to me. I did my basic training at ft benning it was work to me. I took kickboxing classes and we used hockey masks and would go full force but it was just for the thrill of it. I learned kung fu arm breaking techniques and some ninjitsu, some muay thai and grappling, but unless you are really close to the enemy like an intelligence officer or undercover agent or on a special mission like in the old cold war, I don't know what kind of bare handed fighting there is to do. I met lots of veterans and none of them ever mentioned bare handed fights they were in other than bar fights with civilians or each other. When the green beret talks about bullets flying over their head, they train people at Basic using live fire training doing low crawls under live round fire. I don't know if they still do that because some Drill Got killed during a training exercise, when I went through basic they told us we may be the last cycle for the live fire training. However, guys went right over to war during the Iraq War , they didn't do this MMA training. If I go ask most vets they probably never did MMA training while in the military.
