Addendum - Yes, that was an allusion to the Duke of Wellington’s opinion of the Redcoats under his command during his military career (the full paraphrased quote is ‘ours is composed of the scum of the earth, the mere scum of the earth. It is only wonderful that we should be able to make so much out of them afterwards’ (quoted 4th Nov 1813), which makes an interesting parallel with the analogous Khadoran/Napoleonic French mode of enlistment via conscription). The Stormsmiths’ weapon in-game is in reality the rather unimaginatively named ‘Rod’, but is referred to in source lore as the stormcaller, hence the slight change to the terminology here. For those not so well aware of the vagaries of such labels, ‘military order’ as mentioned here with reference to the Order of Illumination is used with the meaning of a militarised religious society in the manner of the Knights Hospitaller, Teutonic Knights, and the other groups which were prominent during the Crusades. The equivalence should be relatively straight forward. Scout General Bolden Rebald is a long-featured character in the lore and fluff of the Iron Kingdoms with an ongoing… strained relationship with Allister Caine. Since recent official content only features ‘headline’ characters in large part, Rebald’s status in the game-world as of Requiem is unknown, and it is assumed here that he is still alive. Consequently, future updates may render this particular section invalid. The comments about the Sword Knights and Long Gunners are perhaps a bit too meta, because, while in-world these units may be reasonably seen as too old-fashioned for a modern army, how they are referenced here is also a not so subtle dig at how Warmachine MkIII was not especially kind to their popularity on the table. Overall, there was quite a bit to get through, and some (or perhaps a lot of) details may be lacking regarding certain units/traditions. Closer looks may be presented in the future which address the finer details of certain thematic groups of units, such as the Storm Division units (and their MkIV successors) for Cygnar (this and others are certainly a possibility).
