The quirks of the various currencies used (present, past, and perhaps future) in the Iron Kingdoms. Banknotes to follow.

Addendum - Easy stuff out of the way first… yes, I know art is lacking for this and some of the pictures used are more suited to adventuring rather than a trader’s business. More pertinent to the content itself, and as mentioned in the introduction, a fair few details do not come from the source material and are, in reality, an attempt at logical extrapolation based on the inter- and intra-factional dynamics within the world setting. This primarily relates to comments concerning the precious metal content in minted coins and their respective value when being exchanged or purchased, as appropriate. More pertinently, some of the original content (from the Iron Kingdoms World Guide) does conflict with more recently published information, so a cursory effort has been made to feature and resolve it all. For gameplay practicality, ‘exchange rate’ (despite the IKWG noting respective accepted rate of valuation of a coin’s precious metal content rather than strictly a real world ‘rate of exchange’) is simply not a thing (which applies to content standards even more) due to the lack of impact (or ‘fun’) and the awkwardness of application this sort of concept has on a campaign and its narrative, caused not least by its very granular and changing nature (in itself not a detriment, but justifying is generally more work for a DM than it’s worth). That said, I’m sure some enterprising DMs are able to cook up ways to bring a strong element of economic competition to their games. In any event, this means much of the real-world interaction between currencies has been shoehorned in to bring it a sense of realism, even if it is from a purely observational perspective rather than anything players of IKRPG might actually use. Lastly, while counterfeiting is touched upon, it was not detailed in full for space.
