I will try to watch all of my Sixers games. Watch Warriors games to see who beats them nightly. Watch Lonzo Ball to see how he plays. If Chris Paul goes to SA, I want to see that. I want to see if the T-Wolves make a playoff push with another year together. I want to see De'Aaron Fox play. I am interested in Pelicans, Gordon Hayward, the Cavs, will Russ get fed up, and John Wall. See there is many things to look forward to.

It's not that we want Wizards-Jazz in the finals (well maybe I do, since I'm a wizards fan). It's that we don't want this much separation between a) the Warriors and the Cavs and b) those two teams and all the other teams in the conferences. We want the playoffs to be competitive and they're not. Disagree strongly with these guys.

Dennis Talk about wanting competitiveness? You should know better than anyone with your team being in the east, that conference hasn't been competitive since 2010. The east is Lebron's scrimmage/practice, that's why he's so overwhelmed when he plays a legit West team in the finals.

the NFL is competitive because talents isn't the only factor that matters like in the NBA. In the NFL coaching, gameplanning, execution, and style of play all make a difference. Also, in football you can impose your will physically on a more talented team and rattle them (like the Giants did to the Patriots in 2007, Broncos against the Panthers a last year, or even Seattle against Denver a few years ago) in the NBA talent 9/10 times is the only thing that matters which is why it is so predictable and boring.

With KD Warriors were losing to Spurs without Parker by 23 before Kawhi got injured. How can someone easily say without KD Warriors can make the finals still? GSW with KD has a tougher shot imo to win the West than Cavs have to win the East.

I think the Warriors would still have a chance to come out the West without KD, but it would be much tougher. I say that because I remember the Warriors handling the Spurs in SA in late March without KD, and that was a game the Spurs badly needed because I think at the time they we're only 2 games behind GS with about 8-9 games left in the regular season.

2? Forgot about Spurs, Celtics, Raptors, Clippers, Rockets? These teams are also good (they can still win few games against the Cavs and Warriors), and teams like Timberwolves, Bucks, Sixers, and Lakers are starting to grow. You guys do not have to worry about Cavs and Warriors, eventually, another team will rise to take them down. Similar with Magic's Lakers and Bird's Celtics, Isiah's Pistons rose to give them a challenge, then Jordan came to the Bulls and started to dominate.
@delfra70

Point is, the Cavs still lost those games. Durant came up big in game 3 and as long as the Warriors have the "Durant factor" the Cavs will be in trouble. Cavs still don't play defense. Warriors chemistry will only get better. Keep in mind, this was their 1st year with KD on the roster. These guys are only going to get better as a unit.

It won't. Do you even know who's contracted, for how long, and with what options? Cavaliers are completely tied up next season with the same team. No team/player options for anybody noteworthy. Several players are overpaid - Jr, Shumpert, TT, Love - making them more difficult to trade AND Cleveland is a difficult market to attract players to long term. Would PG13 be enough, if traded for Love, to put Cleveland over the top? Would Indiana even accept that trade? Would Cleveland risk losing all of Love's trade value for a player who won't sign long term when they could very easily lose Lebron anyway because there are no guarantee's to win and Lebron has no patience? Cleveland will likely not make any moves this off season, and they'll lose again.

Fans and the media need to stop using championships as the main measuring stick for a player's greatness. The emphasis on rings has diminished the importance of the regular season, and has played a big role in the forming of these "super teams."
@armoda1057
@armoda1057 7 жыл бұрын
dennis gadulka that is an excellent point. KD didn't get any better as a player from this year to last year, but since he won, people think he is better now. The problem stems from jordan and comparing guys like kobe, lebron, wade, curry and durant to him. The only thing that matters legacy-wise is if you win titles, which is essentially a function of who you play with and who you play against. The NBA has a problem in that the regular season is meaningless. The cavs didn't care at all about it, got the 2 seed behind boston and then absolutely dismantled them in the playoffs. At least last year the warriors and cavs were evenly matched. Durant really did ruin the league.
@jackchrist6790
@jackchrist6790 7 жыл бұрын
Timothy J. Rooney that's not true, Durant improved his game like crazy over this year. He's a rim protector now. Less turn overs, doesn't stop the ball or stop moving himself anymore. We won't talk about efficiency because of his team upgrade but Durant is on a new level
@dennisgadulka6530
@dennisgadulka6530 7 жыл бұрын
Durant had 4 scoring titles and a league MVP all during his time with OKC, but until he won a ring, folks didn't mention him as one of the all-timers. Players feel that having a ring is the only way to establish their legacies and that's why they're willing to cut corners and team up with other stars to get one.

Yes. Pro sports wouldn't exist without sports media to frame results into stories. I think it's better stories with good guys and bad guys, big dogs and underdogs. This is why dominant, polarizing teams and athletes like Yankees, Real Madrid and Barcelona, Floyd Mayweather, and now GSW get great ratings compared to eras of across the board mediocrity.

Parity isn't what we really want. We just want more close games. Right now there's a decent gap between GSW and CLE, even though that series could've easily been 2-2 going back to Oakland. And, excluding SAS, the gap between GSW/CLE and everyone else is very big. That's what sucks, knowing there's a good chance any given game will be over by halftime.

The Cleveland Cavaliers don't need to get rid of any of their players. They don't need to get rid of Kevin Love. The only thing that Cleveland needs to do is to allow all of their bench players to play and shoot more. Many of their bench players did not get a lot of playing time during the 2016-2017 NBA season, and all of them are good players. If they would get more playing time, they could show the team what they can do. (Kentron Chamelon/Wednesday/6-14-2017)

Jim Jackson is right for the most part. Yes, as fans, we want to see the best teams play, but we don't want the Finals to be decided before the season starts. We already know, unless something drastic happens, we're getting Cavs vs. Warriors v4 and Golden State will win because they formed a super team that eliminated almost all of their conference competition. In the 80's even though only 4 teams won, Houston was very close, which means there was competition ans excitement. Today, there is neither. With KD, the Warriors DO have an unfair advantage, and the only way to even make the Finals a series is to get PG-13 in Cleveland, which may not happen, so yes, the NBA does have a superteam problem.

Answer = *No* This rendition of a super team (Golden State) will only be a problem if the rest of the players/teams in the league wave the towel/concede. But considering the nature of [an evenly regulated] sport, the rest of the teams/players will compete heavily. So, I think in about 2-3 years we will see 4-5 nearly impeccable NBA teams. Anyone claiming the Cleveland Cavaliers are a super team is living in denial. Death lineup: 2012 all star/finals MVP Andre Iguodola, you have KD 8xAllstar MVP / Klay 3xall star/ Steph 2xMVP 4xAll Star/ draymond 2x all star (prob defensive player of the year) . Anyone thinking Cleveland is even close to that is living in denial. You can't compete in the finals when one of you supposedly elite "big 3" goes 2/8 from the field for 6 point in a close out game. Like we see Lakers in the early 2000 repeatedly reached the championship but the competition is stiff, there are the Kings, Spurs that could take them out anytime... now the competition is not close to being that... we could no longer argue who would reach the finals, the argument is how soon will they be able to... smh

i'm still not sold on Hayward leaving. Personal stuff like location or money or family's comfort aside, I'm looking at the Jazz and I really think they are really only one piece and a healthy season away from being a Western Conference Finals team, in position to compete with the Warriors if Durant or Curry gets injured. They add an upper-tier PF or PG to be a Big 3 with Hayward and Gobert and that's a legit team

Without interest and TV contracts, the league was in dire situation. Also, you bring up 2000s. Really? Like some respond here, Lakers won 5 and Spurs won 3 during that decade. So much for parity.

Brian Fantana That was in the 70's. The results would be different today if the league for say 10 years focused more on marketing teams over individuals. Over time certain individuals would obviously rise to the forefront but they'll do so having played through a very competitive era. You wanna save the playoffs and the regular season? The Warriors dominance is good for the league. Here's why: Teams will look at the Warriors success and try to mimic what they do, and what they did to get there. Which is drafting well, and developing players in a team first system. MJs Bulls is proof that dominance impacts the league. After the Bulls, teams turned to ISO play with their best player, and defense. Teams will see the Warriors and start passing the ball around, being unselfish, and running up and down with athletic ball handlers and great shooters. Look at the Bucks, they are already doing this. The Rockets were a poor man's version, but it worked in the regular season, even the Jazz have kind of done this. Except they don't play fast, the play slow. The Warriors play basketball the way it was meant to be played. In the long run, after getting destroyed by the Warriors for a few years, teams will change and change basketball for the better.

I'm the cavs this is what I'm doing. Your going to make a trade in the offseason for Kevin love iman shunpert and other role player or draft picks for jimmy butler and mirotic or George and Thaddeus young. This will force steph curry to end up guarding kyrie Irving and there will be a huge match up issue. Curry can't take a break on defence and guard the cavs shooting guard because it's now paul George or jimmy butler. Defensive benefits is now the cavs will be that when lebron gets tired paul George can now guard KD or the other way around

why are people calling this cavs squad a superteam? this cavs squad is awful without lebron, if he doesn't play in the playoffs then the pacers would've beat them in the first round, meanwhile if KD sat for the playoffs the warriors would still make the finals lol, and it's debatable that the heat were a superteam even. Lebron left and they immediately didn't make the playoffs, If KD doesn't pick up his option and leaves, the warriors will still be the #1 seed next season lol y'all see the difference between lebron carrying his squad and what an actual superteam is?

Let's see it's more of a super team then GS because the Cavs only have 2 players on there roster that were drafted and been on the team there whole career and everyone else is signed FA or Trades. Meanwhile the Warriors drafted 8 of there players and they all have been on that team there whole career and only 6 were by Free Agency and Trades. Oh and you are wrong if he goes to any other team and it doesn't have 2 all stars or superstars he won't win it's been proven. He's not as good as you seem to think if he played on the Nets roster as is he wouldn't even make it past my Bulls.

Joe55 what does FA and drafting/keeping players have to do with the talent that's on a team? no one cares how the team is formed, the amount of talent is what determines a superteam. Golden State has the most talent in the league, by a wide margin, even when you compare them to Cleveland. And he's proven he can win without 2 all stars, he took the warriors 6 games by himself in 2015 and beat them with just kyrie in 2016, yes love played but he averaged 8 points a game in the series, he was no all star, it was lebron and kyrie putting in all the work

You can never predict what's going to happen. When you have a player as great as James on your team, you cannot be counted out. If you are old enough to have watched basketball in the 80's, on two separate occasions; the great Magic-led Showtime Lakers looked done. They were completely outclassed and swept by a truly awesome Sixer team in the 83 Finals. The Sixers had just about enough and acquired Moses Malone. That team was truly awesome. That was a super team. They had two MVP's in their starting line up along with host of other great role players. The Lakers then lost to Boston in a brutal 7 game series the following year. It looked bleak in L.A. They came back to win it all in 85. Everyone thought, well the Lakers are back. Then, boom, they were completely overwhelmed by the twin towers in 86. That same Rocket team then got obliterated by an all time great Celtic team in the Finals. Just about everyone at the time, thought the Lakers were done. They came back the following year with probably the greatest team I've ever seen. It was then I realized how truly great Magic Johnson was. I wouldn't write Cleveland off just yet as long as LeBron James is on that team. It's almost unbelievable the criticism that man gets. Judging from history, the gap between Cleveland and Golden State is not as big as it seems.

OKC have 3 of the top 10 greatest shooters of all time, who can also take it to the hole. They didn't need KD and if they would've won without him, it would've been more impressive. If KD would've beat the Warriors by staying with OKC, then beating Cleveland, it would've been more impressive, respected, and impractical to his greatness and legacy.

GSW will always have a spurs problem(barring injuries) and they have the rockets, what competition does Cleveland have? I think Washington and Celtics are a few pieces away from being an actual competitor. The league has slight adjustments and a few trades away from GSW and Cleveland not going back to the finals next year. I don't have much faith in the east though. Hopefully, Paul George goes to the Wizards or something like that. KD would have been great on the Wizards, too bad that is home town and he doesn't like being there.

Yeah the Cavs are in a very tight spot because they're literally going to have to trade Love if they want to add another star player to the team because they're way over the cap limit and even then it's no guarantee a person like George gets them past the Warriors. However, like they said, might as well try, do your thing in the East and then see how things play out in the West.
