Boy I do love the Daring Class Air Defence Type 45 Destroyers they are by far the best looking ships in the Royal Navy fleet apart from the two Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers of course. But the Type 45s they're my favourite class of ship with their Phalanx CIWS (Close In Weapons System) that can fire 4000 rounds per minute. The 4.5 MK8 Naval Gun on the bow the Sea Viper Missile System not including torpedo defence systems and mini guns and several GPMG (General Purpose Machine Guns that are located on either side of the bridge and around the port and starboard side of the ship. Not only that but the Type 45s have the Sampson Radar system which can track a target from 400 kilometres away. The Type 45s are by far the most technologically advanced Warships on the planet (in my opinion). These ships will be brilliant with protecting both HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 (RN Flagship) and HMS Prince of Wales R09 in a Carrier Strike Group or in a NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) Carrier Strike Group for our two beautiful 70,600 tonne Aircraft Carriers. These Carriers can carry up to 70 Aircraft this includes the Royal Navy Merlin HMA2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopter and the Royal Navy Wildcat HMA2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopter and the F35B Lightning IIs and other Aircraft like the US Marine Corps V22 Osprey. The Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers has the Marine Trent MT30 gas turbine engines which can produce around 40,000 horse power overall. The Carriers can each produce around the same amount of power as a small city like Southampton for example. The ships has the overall deck size of around 4 football pitches. She has the draft of 11 metres a length of 280 metres and a beam of 42 meters. She has 3 Phalanx CIWS 1 Anti-Aircraft (AA) Gun GPMGs dotted around the ship. Both the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers and the Daring Class Air Defence Type 45s are just absolutely stunning. Both ships truly are the best of British Engineering at its finest. The twin island design for our carriers is the smartest most intelligent design on an aircraft carrier that has ever existed. As Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II said herself back in 2018 when she attended the Commissioning of the HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 is that she and her sister HMS Prince Of Wales R09 is " The best of British technology and Innovation." The Type 23 destroyer looks absolutely cluttered, and apart from the popgun on the bow deck I don't see any other forms of weaponry - is it an old ship? it looks like something from the 70s.

The Type 23 is firstly a frigate and not a destroyer and whilst they may look cluttered by todays standards, dating from the mid 1990s, they will still be with us until the mid 2030s, thanks to LIFEX refits. I often feel they have a look of the old Leander class about them! They are the backbone of the fleet, being equipped with a 32-cell Sea Wolf VLS canisters for Sea Wolf or Sea Ceptor missiles, plus have anti-ship missiles including two x quad Harpoon launchers, two anti-submarine torpedoes, as well as a BAE 4.5 inch Mk 8 naval gun, two 30 mm DS30M Mk2 guns or 30 mm DS30B guns AND two Miniguns and four general-purpose machine guns. They are the backbone of the RN fleet and will eventually be replaced by the new T26/T31/T32 frigates which will be almost as large as a Type 45 destroyer! Thanks for watching!

Newsflash. The empire went long ago. If you think it’s still around then you are confused. We have the Commonwealth now. It’s actually much better. On the other hand, I’m incredibly proud of the RN. The new carriers look gorgeous and they have a few new ships being built and on order. Hasn’t been easy for them with a paper thin budget the last 20 years or so.
