I already love the Thumb tone fretted, but it's even more insane fretless!

Love the tones! I would live to get my hands on a thumb one day. They are hard to get hold of in the southern hemisphere.

Thanks!! They are honestly so cool. You might do already, but checking Thomann or reverb is a good start! Good luck!

Nice stuff. I love that giant ass neck profile on those ovangkol necks. 2 things - #1 if those are stock electronics, going "passive" merely bypasses the EQ. Those pickups are still active, so if the battery dies, the whole thing dies! Beware on a gig. #2 - it's not a nice thick slab of Ebony as a fingerboard - get those flats off there! If you're worried about fingerboard wear, DR Sunbeams are tops!

Hey! For point #1 - thanks for correcting. I've never actually had the battery die or out of the bass, I shall check regardless as I'm now extra curious! For point #2 - I like the string recommendation and have used before but I like the flats and prefer them on this bass - they just work better for the current projects! As for board wear - it'll wear regardless, all good with me! Cheers!

Hi George! 1st time viewer, algorithm blessed me with your presence today. I have a 5 string corvette bubinga, absolute amazing bass, was contemplating if i should make it fretless, i have different pickups and position but in your video i heard what i was expected the tone to sound like, thank you. Have you ever though changing this bass to EADGC or what worked for my fretted corvette DGCFA# ?

Hi, welcome! Thanks for your kind words! So I've never played a Corvette but as it's a Warwick, it'll be wicked. The fretless vibes are immaculate really. I don't really have any negatives to making it fretless, just make sure the fretboard is smooth for your fingers. I have flats too, I've never used rounds on it but it'll sing either way. I've never really thought about changing the strings to a lower tuning or changing it completely. Partly just because it's maybe not needed for what I need. I might give it a go though - I know a lotta gospel musician down tune their basses for those extra low notes. Cheers, hope you like my other videos if you get chance to check them out! Have a good one

the obvious question is how on earth have you afforded such an extensive collection of boutique basses?
@GeorgePriceBass

Asked and answered! Gigs, busking, teaching, recording, some savings. I work hard, don't buy stupid stuff. All the basses were bought second hand at really good deals. I'm also 30 years old so obviously not totally new to the game. Hope that helps

How exactly do you make your money?? You have thousands and thousands of dollars in basses there.

Well, I'm 30 years old so over the years, I've saved up my money. I work full time as a musician, teaching, gigs, busking, sessions/recordings I also don't buy stupid stuff and spend money on stuff I don't need! Besides, all the basses I have are second hand purchases at really generous deals! Hope that helps!

Thumbs sound good but the upper horn ruins it for me. Not to mention the neck dive.

Thumbs sound and are great AND I have no issues with neck dive really, due to a beefy strap. Cheers

Fantastic collection, but you don’t seem to know a lot about the basses you own! Really?

Brilliant comment. Okay so Ed, firstly thanks! Yes it's a great collection. Secondly, I have a feeling you're making this assumption from this one video but that's okay... I might not know much about specs but I can play and make a living from music and that's really what counts I'd say. Secondly, I told you what it is, demod it a bit, described it. All basses are different and of course it depends on the year/s they are built. I've had it for 10 years and played so many basses over the years, you'll have to forgive any errors. Body is Bubinga, with it being Neck thru and the same wood type/grain blah blah, I'd assume it'd be the same. Perhaps it doesn't translate over the video? Some necks are Ovankol or Wenge or similar. Fretboards can be Ebony - pretty sure mine is. I fail to see much of what is wrong the vid, bar SOME of the info is midly inaccurate but that's just how it is. Some corrections have been mentioned in discussions below. I'll see if I can find the build notes via the series number and edit the description, just for you! Thanks for the comment though, hopefully you took some joy from the video! Have a good one
