This is the virtual lesson I received back from Warwick Schiller. He makes comments on my work on Hooking On in the round pen and trailer loading, while I work my 2 year old half Friesian mare, Tia.

Sincere thanks for sharing this lesson Patrick. My bet is once you watched the video with Warwick's comments, your mistakes and mis-timing would be obvious. It was generous of you to let us learn from your mistakes. It was actually a great deal easier to see the how and why, instead of the usual instruction of a trainer performing each task well. LOL, the devil is in the detail.

I appreciate you putting this video up. I avoid putting up videos of my working with my horses when things don't go very well; I don't like super negative feedback. Constructive advice, along with commendation, is one thing; pointing out all the mistakes and negatives is another. I learned from this video, thanks for posting. Well done and good for you for working with her in your limited area. I'd love to see a follow up (now 3 years on) to see how she's doing. :)

Thanks for sharing. That was great to see an example of the virtual lesson. It is really useful seeing these situations with Warwick's direction over the top. I'm about to approach trailer loading again and this was great!! Thanks so much again and best of luck with your learning :)

Best video I have seen with actual footage and comments on trailer loading. I learned more about round pen and now feel I can start loading Dakota myself

Thanks for posting, Patrick. Key is that Warwick said the horse was not afraid of the trailer. Had it been afraid of the trailer, continuing to apply too much pressure toward anything the animal is afraid of, especially if you are on the animal, can end up with getting hurt. Thanks again.

Warwick, this is excruciating. You are so patient. This is a perfect example of why some horses are so mixed up.

Warwick. I could be wrong but in one view it looks like the trailer is NOT attached to a truck or vehicle? I would Never try to load a horse in a trailer that was not secure. If that horse got in & started thrashing around in a panic it could have caused the trailer to tip or move. Giving the horse even more reason to not want to load. But great way to critic his training. Great video.

It’s like threatening kids with the wait till your father gets home the kids going to keep misbehaving because dads not here now so big deal later is the same as never sometimes and the more times that nothing happens the more they don’t listen

Never ever have the emergency door open besides she could put her foot out it and try to go that way. It's a big box with a hole in it .

Learn your horse WORDS! say -"Go in" everytime you let the horse go in to its box. Use food. Restaurant. Positive training works on all animals and humans. You wouldn't work without being payed or rewarded. Threat of stress is never good. Lead the horse the first times if it anxious. Open the doors in the front. Old horsemen in Sweden put a trailer with food in a pasture.

Backing up creates draw, causing the horse to move in and follow.
