Didn't "memento" come out in 2001? Movies that came out in 2000 that weren't mentioned were : almost famous , magnolia , American psycho , requiem for a dream, boon dock saints , scary movie , crouching tiger , bring it on , the emperors new groove , cast away , O brother where art thou. Some good stuff that year .

I was taking issue with some of the things being credited as a "Break It" point, both in this video and in the Star Wars one. Then I realized that some points are oddly given to the losing side maybe to make it a little closer. Then I relaxed and just enjoyed the video because you guys are so smart, funny, and charming... and overall I love this new show. Can't wait for more! PS. Awesome Battle Royale stuff, too.

Half of the break it points make no sense. Movie happens, so it loses points due to its sequels? Or because of a trend it might have inspired? And Memento gets break it points because people watch a special feature on the DVD? I mean, do other movies lose points because they're worse movies if you watch them out of order? Just dumb.

I remember both the original book and manga adaptation of Battle Royal came out before the movie made it to the US market, in the end I winded up buying a bootleg version, (which I still kind of feel guilty about). The movie it should noted nominated for best picture in Japan as well as the fact the the director (who sadly died during pre-prediction for squeal) directed the classic massive film series Battle Without Honor or Humanity.

Am I only that really liked the line "Same thing that happens to everything else" from Storm? It's great because in comics it's really common for the hero to have to out think the villian and find a clever semi-scientific way to use their specific powers to defeat a specific enemy. Storm sets you up by saying "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning" so you think there's some sort of scientific reason why she has the upper hand on toad specifically, but then it turns out she's like fuck science I'm an omega level mutant bitch, I can kill any damn thing.

2000 is a strong year (and arguably a better one than the commonly lauded 1999). I keep my own Ebert-esque Great Movies list, and 2000 has 5 on there, which is an above average number. I wouldn't put either in contention for the best ever, but 2000 is certainly a good one.
