I came off enduro bikes to try out light ADV riding on a DRz400. I quickly found out that any decent ADVing was hours away from my home base and I hated riding a small bike on the roads. Once I got to dirt track, I found most of it boring... I ended up "enduro-izing" the DRz and riding with my crew on their 2strokes, until I could finally get back on a true enduro. I ride a KTM 300XCw now, but seriously, spending a season on a heavy 4stroke and working that DRz in single track improved my riding once I got back on a 2stroke.

Big guy to big guy, a GS just fits. I'd rather spend another couple hours practicing a skill, than solving that same problem by taking a couple hundred pounds off.
