Also I feel like Tyler flipped the script when it came to Marcus and Angela. We were introduced to them knowing Marcus wasn't shit and Angela was overbearing. How did it go from that, to Angela being the problem and the only one messing up the marriage? Are we forgetting he thought he burned her? The only reason she and Keisha were beefin' was because he was still sleeping with her. His whole little speech about Angela not knowing when she's won, what tf did she win? As messy and petty as Angela was, She actually cared about Shelia. She didn't tell Shelia for her own gratification or for her own benefit. She told her because she actually cared about her. Not to say the others didn't care about her or loved her, but Angela knew how Mike got down and how he's a piece of garbage that mistreated Shelia. She stood up for Shelia when Mike was picking on her about her weight or other things and still called him out on his bullsh*t when Shelia finally left his azz. Other thing I didn't like how they downplayed Patt's husband feelings and Vulnerability. Mike was wrong for airing out the death of their child. He deserved that bottle to the head

Part of me wonders if the reason Angela was also upset for Shiela and angry at Mike was because Marcus cheated on her and that's why she cheated. But for Patricia it seemed like she was drowning herself in her work as a distraction from grief. In Diane's case she just didn't want to cater to Terrys wants for a child because she'd already stressed she didn't want one so she used her work as an escape. So in Diane's case I definitely think her and Terrys marriage needed a more in depth analysis in the story and even a reconsidering of it's outcome.

@@JuanitoEsBonito I agree but they still have similarities that you just pointed out ,they use work to distract them from their issues at home. I’m not saying they are wrong but neither of them are ready to be married or married the wrong person hence how the second movie played out.Both relationships need a more in-depth analysis because what is Patricia real issue with Gaven because Gaven wasn’t the one who killed her son, he just felt like she was stupid for not checking the seat belt, she never gave a real answer of why she didn’t want to be married to Gaven anymore.

Finally someone pointed out how toxic Terry is! He said decisions should be a 2 party thing but apparently that didn't matter when he wanted another kid. They weren't compatible but aside from her being more attentive to their daughter their incompatibility centered on her bodily autonomy. Yes, sex and family planning are huge parts of a relationship but the solution isn't have sex and babies you don't want. The thing that adds to this is that from what we're told Diane hasn't actually changed. She apparently didn't have that much sex with him from the beginning of the relationship so when did he think that was going to change? Also I didn't like how the resolution the movie gave us was Diane humbling herself when the topic is her bodily autonomy to the point where her accepting that her husband cheated on her to get the babies he wants is a good thing. Like no. That is nasty victim blaming nonsense. The resolution to their story should have been a divorce since the relationship wasn't healthy for either of them.

Yeah, after watching it as an adult I was completely on Diane’s side when I wasn’t as first, it wasn’t until I was married/have a baby now that I understood the problem. It’s clear Terry wants another kid, and Diane is at a good point in her career where she wants to focus on that first. He’s upset because she’s prioritizing her needs above his wants for another child. He KNOWS she doesn’t want to have kids, so she makes sure a that doesn’t happen with the tubes tied. I can understand not having a conversation beforehand but she told him several times she doesn’t want a kid. 🫠
@MouthPeaceCorbett11 ай бұрын
I have to disagree here as well. I don't think they are toxic and really needed a divorce, more counseling than anything, but from my perpective, as portrayed by the movie and the backstop, Diane was more in the wrong. As this comment and FYN pointed out, the assumption is that Diane needs her job. However, from how the movie is portrayed, she's already successful at her job. That sounds to me that Terry already sacrificed years of no intimacy and that was ok because he had his own goals to accomplish. However, they have a child now and he may have switched his focus, yet Diane still pursued her career, to the DETRIMENT of their family dynamic. That seems like the angle the story is trying to portray, how too much of a passion outside the home can hurt the home. She quit trying to balance the two. Then to lie to her husband about something that's clearly a family matter is big as well. Theres nothing wrong with pursuing your interests, but when it turns into an obsession and others you love are hurt by it, it is a problem. They on vacation and she only turned work off for her friends, yet she sleeps with her husband every night, yet and still does not provide him any intimacy on top of that. I hear many women ditch men when they dont get their intimacy needs met in a few months, its been years for him. On top of that, She was the one the that neglected her family duties to both her husband and daughter. Terry also had critical issues to the failing of the marriage as well, don't get me wrong, and trying to force a baby on his wife hoping she would slow down and be more nurturing and domestics very wrong, however, this doesn't seem to prevent him from what's doing what's needed to keep their family foundation together so that's why I say her flaws are more damaging, and why the ending is the way is it in my eyes. However, counseling and clear, strong communication to reach a compromise could clear this up, not a whole divorce. They clearly love eachother, so the compatibility doesn't seem off, their life stages is what seems to be off. This could cause a divorce but in this case, I think it could be fixed. I havent seen the movie in awhile and I know the sequel adds a some more to their story line (actually, iirc, their storyline was the most boring), but in terms of this movie, I think Diane was more in the wrong, ut their marriage was completely salvageable.

Thank you for calling out Terry's toxic ass. Everyone talks about Angela being a real friend, and she is, but nobody ever calls that man's BS out. He has no respect for his wife's thoughts, feelings, bodily autonomy, accomplishments. It's all about what he wants but then he's calling her selfish. She's a lawyer, she's been busy since college, he knew who he was marrying, he thought he could get her to give up her life like everyone expects women to do and he's pissed because she didn't.

All well and good, but when you put your career before your own family to the point of actively neglecting your child, you're selfish.
@krazzeeaj11 ай бұрын
@@marukouga135 As someone who worked in child welfare, that child isn't being neglected. Terry is more hands on like a mother stereotypically would be and Diane is more hands off like a father stereotypically would be. From both movies, it was clear that Diane didn't want to have a child at all and he talked her into it. Terry wanted a child, she gave him the child he wanted. She has very obviously a career focused person and it was explicitly stated that she was *always* like that. Instead of marrying someone who wanted kids, Terry married someone who didn't and then guilt-tripped her into it and harassed her about it. That's not only toxic, it's a horrible example to set for a child.

@krazzeeaj11 ай бұрын
@@marukouga135 Her not prioritizing Terry and their daughter to his standard isn't the same as neglect. I used to investigate actual neglect cases for a living. Furthermore, his wanting children isn't even remotely on the same level as her not wanting to sacrifice their body and career to have another child that she doesn't want. The way Tyler Perry framed the play and the movies, she didn't jump at the the chance to abandon her ambitions and dreams for what a man wants so she's wrong, which is bullshit. He has no regard for her as a person. Quite honestly, if someone doesn't want to have a child, forcing them to is more detrimental to everyone involved, especially the child.
@marukouga13511 ай бұрын
@@krazzeeaj Actively marrying someone that has a desire to have children when you don't is wrong. She knew he wanted a family but married him anyway. They should’ve drawn the line in the sand when they were dating and never made it to marriage. Angela & Marcus: If this couple went to therapy and then found out that it wasn’t helpful after trust was originally broken and disrespectful communication began to enter the relationship, they should’ve split. Patricia & Gavin: if individual and couples therapy was not had after the loss of the child, they should’ve split. Maybe down the road they could’ve healed separately and found their way back to each other. However, they were both slowly dying in their grief. I understand where Diane is coming from with Terry, but as a mom, she needs to pit her daughter first at times. Not give up on your career for your kid. You need focus on yourself too, but at this point, I am worried it is not just Terry that feels neglected, but her daughter too. Her child should not feel that her mother abandoned her and does not love her. Honestly, while Terry handled the conversation in an iffy way, I see where he was coming from. Again, she should not have to sacrifice her career or identity, but when you don’t even want to see where your partner is coming from and feels neglected, she should try to compromise a bit. While it is your body, your partner needs to be part of the conversation so he knows kids are not a part of the equation anymore, at least biologically.
@galaxyrose170211 ай бұрын
This! I can see where he’s coming from. If my husband got a vasectomy (even though reversible), I would be heartbroken because he KNEW i wanted kids. She KNEW that having another kid was important to him and still did it. At that moment, she was selfish. She could’ve at least talked to him. Then to forget about your child and husband is absolutely horrible. If I was Terry, I would be fed up too. Not to mention the lack of affection, constant fighting, no family time, no alone time, and no sexual?? Yes it is her body and she has every right to want her career, but she has to understand that her child comes first before any job.

Angela was Sheila’s only true friend. As tough as the truth is, I’d rather have a friend like Angela than the rest of the ladies. I’ll never forget watching this in the movie theater. My face was like this at the dinner scene 😮😵💫🥴🤔😂🎉😭

There’s other ways He could’ve wrote the side chick in the story. I get it, it’s a movie but seems a bit unrealistic! What woman is going to be ok with her man traveling with her friend lol

The baby momma is my cousin's sister. I sat in the movies thinking this girl looked familiar. My cousin said Fool that's Kaira. I busted out laughing and was like sure is.
