During a row with Whit in Bobby's movie he said 'the night I met you at the soul train awards, you were getting booed!! She didnt even have a comeback, I guess she was shocked that he would throw that painful incident in her face. I wont be surprised if he called her homophobic names too. I believe he had a mean streak because of the way he felt towards her - on or off his meds.

I think Robin alluded to him calling her derogatory homophobic names. He knew the right things to say to take a jab at her self worth. This doesn't seem bi-polar to me. This is a deliberate and calculative use of words with the intent of tearing someone down. The sad thing is he won at the end. By the time he left, Whitney was just a shell. She might have divorced him but she didn't survive the marriage. it's just that it took another 5yrs for her to physically depart from earth. To me it looks like he made her feel as if she wasn't good enough for anybody and that she should be glad that he married her. It might be one of the reasons why she let him do whatever he wanted because she thought that's all she deserved.

Bobby going from sprung to emotionally abusive may have been as a result of feeling emasculated. i.e. deprived of his male role or identity. Post marriage he was reduced to being Whitney's plus one at events, occasional babysitter and 'satisfying' her needs. Its in a man's DNA to provide and protect. He was doing neither - she had her own money and a bodyguard./large team. I believe it bothered him...

@NIVEA Bobby said he stepped away from the marriage because of Whit's drug use but he didn't want to get back with her when they separated. I think he used that as an excuse cos Whit was getting clean at that time. I believe he was tired of feeling emasculated. His reality show was doing wonders for his career, finances and confidence so when she refused to sign off on season 2, that musta crushed him and meant reverting to being her plus one at events, occasional babysitter and 'satisfying' her needs.

That prolly infuriated him even more and made him draw eyes on the wall and cut her head off in pics....

@@Msk-wb1yg Did she lie though? She had every right to say that. i don't blame her. You also have to take into consideration that was after 11 years of paying for his everything. She tried to uplift, support and encourage him in everyday possible and 11 years later he was still acting like a child and leeching off of her. Any woman would've reacted the same. He was taking advantage at that point. He already emasculated himself when him and his whole family were nothing but freeloaders. And I don't believe he was sober when he left her. We all saw him passed out and looking like a mess in Karen steffans couch after he left Whitney.

There were some rumors that Bobby was almost bankrupt in the beginning of 90's. Is this correct? And i heard that Whitney actually saved him from bankruptcy. Futhermore i remember that when Arsenio Hall asked her why she agreed to become Bobby's wife, she replied that she was almost 30. It seemed Whitney was desperate to become someone's wife, and Bobby maybe felt obligated to marry her.

Yes, maybe that's it. I remember Bobby impregnated another woman (her name was Kim, if i'm not mistaken) around the time when he was dating Whitney. This is not a sign of true love. Sometimes i doubt were they both serious about each other?

I feel so sad that her personal life turned out this way. I am not a psychotherapist, but it seems to me that she had symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD). If Bi-polar disorder was responsible for his behaviour towards Whitney. How come he didn't act the same towards his children, mother, brother and sisters? I didn't hear any of his family members complaining of getting their face slashed, spat or their properties destroyed. And they were always around the house. Shouldn't he have reacted the same way towards anybody if that was the case.Or did he have a special type of Bi-polar disorder that only pops up whenever Whitney was around?

ugh I hate to defend Bobby, but it was not like he was doing drugs with his children, mother, brother, or sisters (well maybe his siblings). However, Whitney and Bobby were spending hours upon hours partaking in heavy drug use. The drug, I suspect, probably made his manic episodes much worse. I mean I can't know for sure, but it make a lot of sense when you think about it. By now means am I excusing his behavior, but I do his Bi-Polar disorder had a lot to do with his behavior back in the day.

After an event they went to a restaurant to celebrate or something then he stood on the table and yelled 'i just signed a 100 million dollar recording contract!!!! One of the witnesses said whit was horrified. This type of behavior was not new to her. Its interesting that as rich as they were he prolly didn't go for regular health and wellbeing checks. May have been picked up earlier..

I think it was pure vengeance. if you remember he spat on her when she went to visit him and hit her on the head with a phone. They were not doing drugs together when he did those things. I think he simply hated her but the money was too good to leave.

@@ММВ-н1л During courtship, they did not live together and also lived in different cities. They had many secret rendezvous and would pop up at each others tour stops. Bobby said that was spontaneous and v exciting. I doubt he was slapping and spitting on her during this time - Whit said he changed post marriage. Yep she chased him.....he didn't have to do much.

I think Bobby's bipolar diagnosis is legit. With certain mental illness, people don't begin presenting with symptoms until later in life (usually in their 20s). The problem with Bobby, is that instead of seeking medical help, he self-medicated with drugs and alcohol. Drugs like crack and heroin probably enhanced his manic episodes which is probably why he was wildin out a lot of the time. He said he started to take legit medication for his condition after getting with Alicia, which would explain why he has been so mellow these past couple of years (age and stability from Alicia probably helped).

He also admitted it during Diane Sawyer interview in 2002. He was very dismissive of the severity of the disorder. And who can blame him especially with the stigma surrounding mental health in the black community and society as a whole really. I wouldn't be surprised if Whitney downplayed it as well. Both Bobby and Whitney would have benefitted from time with mental health specialists.

Just doesn't add up...

I also think he is older and wiser now. He has seen the error of his ways. He does not have to compete with his wife Alicia or try to one up her cos he is the star in that relationship. When they're on the red carpet, folks ain't calling out Alicia's name, he gets all the attention. He can feel secure. That calmness i reckon helps his mental health.

The former famous singer, who decided to do songwriting, would be the perfect match. Such an alliance will be beneficial to both, and at the same time there will be no competition for the attention of the public. There would be mutual understanding and respect. It is very important!
