@14:51 Actually, the truth is that the first release of "Shallow Grave" did NOT have the condition that both players MUST have a target for this card to be activated. Just either GY having a targetable monster is required. So this is a legal play during the time period "Shallow Grave" was first released before it's ERRATA.
@KipReacts3 ай бұрын
@RedDragonForce2 This is why I'm against erratas. Specifically when it comes to removing things off the Ban List. Just make a completely new card. Let the old one live in infamy. It also makes it easier to keep track when looking at legacy formats. Clarification Erratas are fine. Naruto had a Madara Uchiha card list, "1 Uchiha Madara Card" in its effect. The card cannot actually function without that errata. Necrovalley kinda needed some Clarification Errata.

13:40 The reason Dante can do that is because "detach 1-3 mats, then send equal number of cards from deck to GY" part is a cost rather than an effect. Unless a card is blocking a specific required action (i.e. Dimension Shifter shutting off the GY and blocking anything that sends to GY as cost), nothing in the game is actually stopping you from activating the effects of a card that's negated and subsequently paying the activation cost. So even if Dante is under Imperm/Veiler, he still has to detach mats and send cards to GY if you attempt to use his effect.
@RedDragonForce23 ай бұрын
@13:56 Negating the Activation of effects doesn't negate the cost OF activations. It's like Jinzo negating trap effects, but if there's a cost to be paid, like IO, then the 700 will still be taken from the owner despite the effect being negated. You can't necessarily the COST of activating an effect, nor can you negate a "Maintenance Cost". Unlike negating Snatch Steal, which would negate the EFFECT of increasing LP. Cost vs effective activation and resolution. Cost can't be negated that easily, especially if the negating is in response to the cost being paid.

So, there is an issue. Spells can be used as Quick-Plays during the Battle Phase in Battle City. If Bakura had gone for Crass Clown instead(he wouldn't need the attack boost), when Bones went to attack with Mammoth of Goldfine on his turn, Bakura would activate his Spiritualistic Medium, and we'd be back here. And knowing Bones, he probably would shotgun the Premature Burial to get Dragon Zombie back(in this scenario, Mamoth hasn't died yet).
@unaffectedbycardeffects91523 ай бұрын
Stats do go negative, but only in theory. You can't have a -500 atk monster, but if you buff a 0 atk monster whose attack has been lowered, the -500 will still be taken into account. Because reasons.
@lo4tr3 ай бұрын
The assumption is that Crass Clown is in defense and Goldfine is in attack, both ready to contest the Earl. However, all Bakura would have to do is run over Crass Clown and then leave his Spiritualistic Medium Spell card face-down. As explained in the video, Spell cards set on the field can act as Quick-Play Spells during the opponent's Battle Phase based on the anime logic. Therefore, if Goldfine attacked over Earl, Bakura could use Spiritualistic Medium to dump his hand and destroy Goldfine in the same manner. Additionally, if that happened on Bones' turn, he wouldn't have been able to activate Skull Invitation first, meaning Bakura would get away without even losing the life points from dumping his hand.

The fight begins 😂😂😂😂 28:26 also ye fusion monsters can attack when they are special summoned again after they are properly fusion summoned. In the first official duel of battle city when Atem took on the rare hunter after defeating exodia by using chain destruction, he used monster reborn to special summon the flying mythical Beast and use it to destroy the last defense monster. Then he attack directly with Apla with the power boost of summon skull
@Yojimbo163 ай бұрын
When I saw this episode and Bonz activated Skull's Invitation, Bakura laughs and says, "Your Trap Card means nothing to me and to prove it, I'll send every card in my hand to the card graveyard" and for years I thought you can just discard whenever you wanted without the need of costs or effects. Fables and Infernity would have been busted if that was an actual rule.

I used to play yugioh on this one site that had some anime only cards and user made cards so weird rule interactions was my specialty. Helped a friend who a lot of people found annoy because of her personality (it was, but she was a nice person overall) build a deck using some game only card that prevent you from losing when your life points reach zero and self destruct button. They wanted to rule it as a draw because one of the examples given for a draw is both player's life points hit 0 at the same time. I had a lot of weird decks like that on that site and had to do a lot of rule searching for similar card interactions. But yeah Bakura was a great villain both in the original and season 0.

My favorite Yugioh anime-only logic: When Time Wizard's effect is successful, it ages monsters by 1,000 years. In battle city when Joey dueled Espa Roba, he used Time Wizard against Jinzo and even though the effect was successful, it didn't destroy Jinzo because his armor is made of a metal that's guaranteed not to age, rust or corrode for 10,000 years.

I always liked Bonz. He was one of my favorite of the Dual Monsters era characters. Zombies are my favorite type, and I like his design and general attitude. I believe the reason we don't see them hand fuse is because when Kazuki takahashi was writing yugioh the manga he didn't mention it or bother with it and just thought fusing on the field was quicker and saved paper and time so when he finished battle city and we got the anime version of the arc from beginning to end of Battle City we never see a hand fusion just fusions on the field and before anyone says what about during the virtual world arc keep in mind its a filler arc and Mr Takahashi never had a say on it or wrote it so it doesn't count but we do see hand fusions later so maybe the argument was fusions must be on the field same with ritual in the rules of battle city and if we go further back to duelist kingdom the argument stands as we see fusions and ritual on the field no hand.

If you actually rewatch Bakura’s duel for being one of the important antagonists he kept getting screwed by plot armor when he doesn’t cheat and has played all his duels fairly. Duel 1 - Yugi, change of heart should have resulted and taken little yugi as dark magician but plot said no I’ll take over my own monster instead. Cheated out of a fare duel. Duel 2 - Bonz, he won like he should have. Duel 3 - Yugi battle city finals, has Yugi in a no win situation. If he attacks the ghosts of dark sanctuary will wipe out his life points even had dark spirit of the silence to grantee lost and if he ends his turn destiny board finishes the duel. And if Yugi stalled he would have been disqualified. He had no good cards in his hand and he cheated to pull the ONLY card that was in his deck to bail him out. Duel 4 - Marik, he had to lost because of plot because what would it have said if bakura saved the show while everyone was asleep. Duel 5 - Kaiba, standstill so he didn’t lose but he didn’t win against kaiba but that wasn’t the point of the duel and Bakura got what he wanted already. Duel 6 - Little Yugi had to win against bukura since it was near the end of the anime

I think Bakura nonchalantly threw his hand away was just to mess with Bonz mentally. If the game state was different he probably wouldn't have discarded all of his cards so readily. I wish we got sone retrains of bonz’s monsters he feels like he should be with weevil and Rex as a recurring stooge duelist with a lot of retrains and fits their decks by being a monotype deck Also we need more generic zombie support, don’t get me wrong it’s got sone powerful generic stuff already like unizombie and mezuki but it’s not as much as you would expect from how defined the zombie type feels because it’s so tied up in its archetypes in a way that feels off goven zombie might as well be a super archetype like insects or dinosaurs Serious though if you look at master duel you have very few decent effect monsters not tied to one if the 5 archetypes (eldlich, mayakaahi, shienui, skull servant and vendreads) and it’s sub archetypes like red eyes zombies, pharaohs, and plaguespreaders with the level 3 ghostricks only half counting Makes pure zombie world grass decks gear impossible unless you either include the ones that don’t lock you or tealament millers

There is no way that Bones could win this duel if they both played their best. TGS forgot spells could activate on the opponents turn. Bakura destroys Crass Clown and when Bones attempts to attack with mammoth Bakura triggers his spell. The result of the turn is Bones has access to Skull invitation, Premature Burial, and Nightmare Steel Cage. He can survive Ectoplasm only if he doesn’t use Premature Burial to resummon his mammoth as a defense. But if Bakura also played appropriately he might still have Shallow Grave as a discard or activation meaning Bones will lose to Ectoplasm.

If you'll pardon the pun, no matter how they dressed it up, Yugioh never really lost its bones of a horror manga. It might be lighter in tone, but every now and then you get something like this (or GX seasons 3&4) that shows that it never loses its origin.
@doubledamn25993 ай бұрын
Actually, now that I think about it, you could make a similar argument for how the card game is treated in-universe. With how the Shadow Games were originally, even those that have never heard of the true origins or nature of Duel Monsters rarely, if ever treat it as 'just a game', you can see it in how they don't treat Life Points as a resource or the GY as a 'second deck' like we do in our world.

Sometimes you have to have your protagonist either be low skilled but gets better or at the absolute very least, have them lose their duels but they grow from there. It’s why I absolutely despise Yusei and Playmaker because they never lose their duels (and no, flashbacks don’t count. I’m talking on screen start to finish duels.) and because they never lose, not only do they never grow because their way of dueling never loses but their duels are just boring and stale. Why bother trying to build suspense when the possibility of losing isn’t even an option with them? Doesn’t help that both of them are so stale and uninteresting as characters
