I know haha no I know it's not for everyone - it's just me sitting in front of a blackboard! But if you like football and want to improve your English, I think it could be useful. I think the KZbin algorithm may not know where to push my videos ;) And I don't really know what I should do to promote them.

Players in the past didn’t used to dive or playact as much as now. I think that is one of the biggest problems of the modern game ✌️⚽️

old football was allowing more football magic. I mean the main man number 10's such as like zidane, ronaldinho, kaka and more.. or deadly strikers like ronaldo nazario, torres, van nistelrooy.. these players have not any place in current football. Because current football wants a lot of things from you. It wants defence from even strikers and current gameplay will not allow number 10's to do some football skills. Every single year football is more becoming a game playing in mind. Old players had a lot of oppurtunities to move another parts of the pitch, they had more chances to do mistakes. Not: I am a football fan from türkiye. I hope you are doing well. I want to thank you for these amazing videos. I have a big respect for the thing you are doing, keep going

@@yunus6050 Thank you Yunus - I agree that players from the past who specialised in one thing may find it difficult in the modern game but they were magical players.

Although I haven't seen many games, I feel that both infrastructure and tactics are now much improved than before, as well as the physical and technical skills of the players you mentioned. Thanks for the video, I learned interesting expressions and practical grammar🥳

I agree - there are some things that I miss but overall football has developed in many areas.

That's a nice way of teaching English through football. Also, it's very nice of you to speak considerably slower as people here usually have difficulty in understanding British accent. Cheers!

I appreciate the comment thank you. Yes I think my channel can help people learn English but also help football fans learn football vocabulary so they can understand native speakers talking about football better. Your name reminds me of a phrase I used to say in Indonesia ‘ngomong ngomong’ :)

Thanks mate 👍 I’m happy knowing some people find them useful. The idea was to one day start giving people a chance to discuss football topics and practise English. The community and the people we meet along the way are more important ✌️⚽️

I appreciate the comment - it's great to know some people find them useful. I enjoy making the videos. Se eu tivesse que aprender um idioma, acho que gostaria de aprender usando tópicos de futebol.

Do you have a podcast? I'd like to listen
@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS3 жыл бұрын
No podcast sorry. I know there is an English language and football podcast that a radio station in Spain does. (I can’t find it sorry!). Languagecaster is also a good website and I think they do podcasts. I want to have weekly speaking practice for people about different topics - hopefully, I can start it soon.

Oi, sou brasileiro. Como é assistir uma emoção de final de Champions league, pensando que pode ser sediada no seu próprio país? Ou então, como é falar inglês ( hahaha tô perguntando coisa aleatória), mas vlw flw, tmj

what's that about "nought", didn't catch it. Does "nought" mean "zero"? Never heard that before.
@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS3 жыл бұрын
Yes, nought /nort/ means zero. I only realised when I was talking that Americans probably don't use it. For decimals, British people often say nought point 2 (0.2). We also play the game called 'noughts and crosses', which you may know as 'tic tac toe'. A car might go from nought to 60 in 4 seconds. Also, in Yorkshire, Lancashire and many parts of England they say 'nowt', which means 'nothing' e.g. I did nowt yesterday :) So I suppose it is only in the UK that we refer to the 2000s as the noughties :)

@@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS wow, something totally new just opened to me. Never heard any of my Brittish friends or colleagues say it. That's one of the things I like the most - learning something new, especiallyy when you don't really expect to thinking ya know it all. And that's free of charge :) Cheers.

Could I use the 'to be used to' form instead of usually? For example: I usually play football with my friend every friday evening.... or ... I'm used to playing football with my friend every friday evening. Is it correct? So ... maybe you could make another video about 'to be used to' and 'get used to' .... :) Thank you for your help.
@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS3 жыл бұрын
It’s a different meaning. ‘I’m used to + v-ing’ is to be accustomed to something. ‘I usually’ means it’s regular. You can usually do something but not be used to it :) Ronaldo quickly got used to playing in Premier League again!

@@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS I'm trying to get used to this bad Juventus season. It looks they easily got used to play only one half and then lose the control. 4 matches (not games ;) ) and 2 points. I never undestood why we bought Cristiano, now I got it.
@EnglishforFOOTBALLFANS3 жыл бұрын
I think Juventus will turn it around but you seem a little confused at the moment. It doesn’t seem like the right balance of players.
