There’s always just this goofy factor to them and it really takes away from the already barely scary films that they are.

This movie holds a special place in my heart. Not a good place tho. Our house was a ranch style house, so it was long and sort of split in two halves. We close off the front half when we go to bed, so its like pitchblack on there. After watching this movie with my dad in the front half of the house, we turn off the lights and go to back half when the phone starts ringing. But the wireless phone was not working, it was dead for some reason. And the phone is ringing but ringing in a way it doesnt normally ring, which was weird AF. 10yr me was like wtf. But then my dad goes, hey go in the kitchen and answer the phone but the phone ringing weird that part kf the house was pitch black and i just watched this stupid ass movie. So i started crying and my mom got mad at my dad for having me watch it. The weirder part is that i think my dad answered the phone and it mightve been a crank call cuz, ya know '99, but they were saying it was *75 (calling back a number that had called them.) Weird as hell. So House on Haunted Hill will always live in my memories cuz of that traumatic night, and due to the Jacob's ladder scene where the doctor cuts off thats dude's face.

So, they made a sequel. It really fills out the lore of this.. uh, hospital? IIRC it first came out as like a 'choose your own adventure' dvd thing but you can stream it in a complete state nowadays. It's a solid sequel.

They used the hulk ride at 6 flags for the beginning.

OK, but why does the amusement park bit at the beginning remind me of the beginning of Spy Kids 2? 😂

I think it's the bright day & candy colored "fakeness". I love it though, very unreal, if you get my meaning.

13 ghost, house on haunted Hill, ghost ship and the haunting were my fav "cheesy horrors" from the late 90s
