Modern Germany is an absolute disgrace. Ukraine blew up your gas pipeline despite all the military help they received from you, US spied on your leaders despite being "allies", Polish prime minister told you to shut up just a few days ago. And there is no reaction. Germany no longer stands for anything. It almost feels as if Germans were so ashamed they are thankful for even being allowed to have their own country. Germans lost their backbone completely. They are a punching bag with no sense of pride. This needs to end. Every world power has done absolutely ruthless and disgusting things at some point in history. They all just act like it never happened or justify it. You need to find your identity, pride and courage again. Your culture is so rich and beautiful, you've given humanity so many great artists and scientists. If something doesn't change in Germany quickly Germans will vanish and historians one day will be asking themselves why such great people let themselves be destroyed despite being one of the greatest nations to ever exist.

Good evening Dr. Ludwig. I thank you very much for this beautiful song. I analyzed the lyrics, and this song actually makes me sad. Weather it be the Protestant north, or the Catholic south, the democratic socialist west, and the dictatorial communist east, a unified German State is the highest priority. It makes me think deeply how Germany has changed a lot within the past +120 years. Then, most were Christian in some way as it was in their art. Most held strong family, and joyful nationalist values. The government did not control the local economy. The nobility and monarchy held true, and lead the German people not through personal gain, but selflessness to the state and the people. Today, the population of Christians across Germany has declined. Most either do one of three things; don't get married, get married but don't have children, but if they have children it is usually very few. Most of the German populous do not appreciate the German State, nor their rich and beautiful history. Then, the local economy was controlled solely by sell and demand; a free market through and through. Lastly you had the trusted, and ancient Teutonic monarchy. Unlike politicians, they lead the state not because they had to through bloodline mandate, but because many of them truly appreciated and loved for what their country was. I do not speak this out of dislike of the democratic federal government of Germany, but for love of the German State, and her people. Like a good friend, we must correct her ways not out of hatred or spite, but because one truly loves her. You correct your friend's ways not out of hatred, but love. Lastly, as this beautiful song states: "we don't forsake the faith", and "We don't let the hope be stolen from us". Just as when in The Hobbit, the Dwarves gave up after they lost the last light of Durin's Day, Bilbo recognized that the true hope to enter the mountain was the form of the Moon, just around the corner. What I mean is that patriots like you will be the ones who will signal hope around the corner, when many think that hope and faith have abandoned Germany. "We can't give up now!" -Bilbo

Not really. The original German "East" in this song from the 19th century doesn't exist anymore. Germany's enemies tore the old German East out of Germany in 1945 and carried out the largest ethnic cleansing in the history of Europe by expelling the traditional German population (appr. 10 million + 3 million Germans from CSSR)
