I went with a GV70 but just helped my uncle get an RX350 (which I'm really impressed with). I also looked at the m340i but felt it was a bit too much for a daily driver. The GV70 is comfortable and luxurious in eco/comfort mode, but put it in Sports and it's like a different car. Not M340i level but enough to put a smile on my face. Didn't even consider the NX.

I at present own a 2022 UK spec Lexus RX 450h, Premium Sport which will be getting changed next year (2025) Looking already at the brand new Lexus RX 450h+ in Premium Plus trim level (as it's now called) plus it's now a plug-in hybrid) thinking also of the BMW X3/X5 but to be honest, feeling completely lost!! In my time with the Lexus brand, I honestly CAN'T fault it nor my Lexus Dealership in anyway!! The fuel economy has also been superb for such a large car with a 3.5 v6 petrol engine!! and yes, the comfort it gives is truely superb!! Do I stay with the Lexus brand, or do I give BMW a try? Even though BMW reliability is ranked 15th, compaired to Lexus at No.1!! A really hard choice tbh, and which BMW trim level would be near the same as my current car?? Please someone help/give me some good advice here!! x

Responding a little late here. From what I am reading in your comment here it is probably better to stay within Lexus family to enjoy the ride comfort and reliability that BMW still cannot match. I encourage you to watch my video where I discuss all RX trims, specifically their suspension, I suggest you also consider RX 500h. X5 offers different I would say a bit more premium experience in terms of driving dynamics. If ride comfort is your number 1 priority then stay with Lexus. If you want to have more dynamically sound car then I recommend X5 (not X3) as it offers a good blend of comfort and sport. Hope this helps.

I have enjoyed your reviews because you bring a different perspective. You like fast performance cars with an emphasis on looks over comfort. Money is not a concern for you. The RX350 is definitely not for you, but the Honda CRV might have met most of your needs based on your impression of that car and saved your family lots of money. But I get it, I love BMW too.

Thanks a lot for your kind words and feedback. In my reviews I put myself in the shoes of what it would be like if I were to own many of these cars that I review. Starting this channel was derived from my mere curiosity about all these cars from economy to exotic ones. And I am happy to share my thoughts and real world experience driving and comparing these cars.

I have a similar dilemma with my spouse, I like luxury but need performance and she leans towards luxury, solution is the X5 with this engine. That's what we bought, 2023 X5 and we both love it. Yes, a little more expensive so that will be a deal breaker for some but what a car.

Yep, yep, thanks for sharing. We actually loved X5, we rented it once to drive from California to Texas and back. It's a great car, but for some reason even with same MSRP as X3 M40i it was few hundred dollars more in Lease payment. So I was fine with X3 M40i knowing it's B58 engine and how fun to drive it, but wife wanted X5 :). So we'll see. I think once, soon I bring new X5 on the channel she will reassure me that this is the car she wants :)

I've had a couple of BMWs in the past. Their level of parts and workmanship failure is unacceptable, especially at their price point. They're OK if you lease them, dumping them every 3 years, or so, passing on their troubles to the next sucker. Presently, I'm on my second RX (350h Premium+, in copper). The ride and handling are much improved. The handling is, of course, not in BMW's class but I'm fine with that because what it does deliver, comfort with quiet precision, is simply superb. It doesn't float or wallow, like the old ones did. The seats are firmer but still comfy. The room inside is exceptional, high quality, and beautiful.

Thanks for your feedback. I was quite impressed with the new RX350 as it’s chassis is far more refined compare to the older model. Interior quality is top notch. BMW’s reliability improved over the years, I have now seen my friends drive their BMWs close to 100K miles without major issues, but of course no comparison to Lexus. I think it’s nice to have both cars: a fun one and a reliable comfortable cruiser.

i looked at a 2024 RX350 and a X3. I didn't like the RX350 4 cylinder turbo it is too small for that car. It's great for the NX but not the RX. I got a RX 2022 CPO. X3 well maintenance after 3 years is a killer. Now for the > It doesn't float or wallow like the older ones. I don't feel that at all in the 2022. Maybe you can explain in more detail.

Great review. I just subscribed to your channel as a result. Do you know where I could rent and M40i for a couple of days in the Tampa/Ft. Myers area? Before committing to something like this, I need more than just a test drive around the block.
@100miledrive
@100miledrive Жыл бұрын
Thanks for subscribing. I checked Turo in that area and only see X3 30i. If you are not in rush you can keep on checking on Turo, maybe one will pop up in your area. Also, checked Orlando, FL they also have only X3 30i but many more cars. Maybe 1 will show up there sometime soon. This is far but not as far as Miami. Otherwise Miami has X3 M40i for sure and maybe if you are visiting Miami anytime soon then you could plan on renting one there from Turo. Another thing you can do is check inventory of used 2022-2023 models in BMW dealerships and if you see one - email them and ask for more extended test drive where you could drive it for up to 50 miles. 1 local dealer in CA offered here such an option. Just let them know you are a serious buyer and may consider that used one or even a new one. Other option would be to hit people in forums on Facebook. There are many BMW forums and see if you can arrange maybe to pay someone to rent for 1 day or few hours. Hope this helps

What about the day to day use with that wierd Lexus touch screen? The BMW dash and actual buttons are so much more practical and better layout. Changing radio, GPS, climate control looks annoying on Lexus plus all that gloss black will be covered in gross fingerprints

Oh, yes certainly not liking this new idea of putting everything in 1 screen and my X3 M40i feels so much better with actual buttons, however would like to disappoint you that BMW went the same route with new iDrive 8. No more memory buttons, no climate control buttons and BMW menu all converted into apps, everything is an App now, even heated steering on some new BMW is in the screen. @100miledrive
@100miledrive Жыл бұрын
Hi Hasan. Sure. I got mine from Buena Park BMW from Tai Khuram. Another place I negotiated with before was Rusnak BMW in Thousand Oaks. It also depends how many they have in the inventory and how motivated they are to move the car. I usually first go to dealer’s website, check inventory and then start hitting them up. It is certainly harder to negotiate now than before, but at least possible with BMW unlike many others like Lexus.

@100miledrive

Initially I did preorder at Rusnak BMW and they even gave some off on the incoming car, then we decided we wanted other options and decided to preorder where they also honored discount but not the coupon that I had from Ultimate Driving Experience. But then I found a much better deal at Buena Park BMW on the car in stock. Basically they could give you some off on pre-order but not much, they are more likely to give better discount on the car in the inventory or at least a car in transit.

@@Wisdom7I Nice, congrats on your BMW. Yep with BMW I usually go to their Ultimate Drive Event around August here in LA, get $1000 off coupon and around November, December they would have really good Winter specials, plus you can negotiate even further to lower the price. It just sucks that just 4 years ago an average BMW was around $5-6K less. This inflation really affected car market, plus high interest rates.

Could you please post a video on why you didn’t like the NX. I own one and love driving it , but I am also a noob car owner and maybe missing out on a lot of things. So am really curious
@100miledrive
@100miledrive Жыл бұрын
Overall NX is a good car. The main thing is that you like driving it. In my review I was hoping new NX absorbs bumps in more refined way. Also expected slightly better sound insulation which is in part due to run flat tires. Also suspension in cornering is reluctant to slice corners. New Lexus RX on the other hand has mprovements in these areas. But again many people don’t care too much about driving dynamics and are looking for Luxury and reliability, this is where NX scores good points. And it’s fairly comfortable with good seats. I hope this explains a bit. If you want to expand your understating on driving dynamics I highly recommend renting cars from different competitors especially Europeans and see how they perform. I hope this explains a bit

I am absolutely torn on a similar decision and would tremendously value your feedback. X3 m30i versus a Genesis GV70 3.5. idk if you tried to the Genesis with the 3.5. Genesis interior is twice as good as anything BMW makes and better than Lexus by a mile. It's so luxurious, and probably has the quietest cabin in the segment. It has way more luxury and tech features than the BMW except for a few small exceptions (adaptive headlights, wireless AA). The power is decent, maybe 85-90% as good as the BMW drivetrain. Fuel economy is atrocious. But the ride is not as jittery.... Idk what to pick. Thoughts?

Yeah I know sometimes it is not easy to make a choice. I briefly test drove GV70 2.0T before we got X3 and it was OK, I didn't get much feedback and this is exactly why I advocate to rent a car on sites like Turo and spend a day with it. I will bring GV70 on my channel, maybe even 3.5 to match against my X3 M40i. I am also curious about the ride quality. In southern CA at one point all Genesis vehicles had $4-5K markups due to inventory shortage, so we dropped it even from consideration. So to answer your question: I would rent both cars 1 after another. Spend a day with each car and also decide what is your primary decision making metric: Is it power, interior quality, cabin quietness, engagement. I personally like the engagement and how dramatic my X3 is, but that is X3 M40i but then it has jittery drive which is not for everyone. X3 30i feels just normal with nothing crazy but offering good confidence. I will be able to answer your question better when I spend a day with GV70. I hope this gives you some clue. Make sure to Subscribe.

I’ve had to give this some thought as well. I felt that the BMW interior captures a more austere and refined look (not showy or Uber-gadget); whereas the Genesis is more of a refined family living room, with an abundant bells & whistles, which has a lot of merit but not my taste. Aside from this, Genesis handled like an improved Lexus. So bottom line, depending on your preference, both are great cars with different purpose. Settle on the purpose than your choice is clear.

Thanks for your feedback. Well gone are the days when RX was affordable. While you can still bargain on BMW X3 and X5 Lexus is very short on inventory and sells at best at MSRP. I do agree that it’s a good value proposition on RX. Very reliable and offers smooth ride, however many people are looking for engaged driving and more luxury and this is where European Rivals come in. European cars maybe not about long term reliability but have distinct personalities that are very fun to experience. Lots of power, cripsp shifts, sporty experience etc… At the end of the day it’s all about your priorities and what car caters to your personality, and Lexus is also a good choice.
