He hasnt been cleared to play yet. Theres a chance he isnt cleared come the first playoff game. If hes cleared he should get a series. Its a concussion the team gets literraly 0 control.

Lets be honest, this wasn't Sirianis decision, this decision came from Howie and Jeffery Laurie after consulting with the medical staff, trainers, coaches, players and analytics department. Also lets not pretend that if the Starters played and someone gets injured missing the playoffs, 97.5 and WIP wouldn't be calling for Nick Siriani's firing.

I have a pop quiz for everyone... Who won Super Bowl 25 without using google? what about 33? 21? 40? 52? 51? 57? All these happened in the last 40 years and I venture to guess people only know the most recent ones in the last 10 years. Now what were the full rosters of those winning SB champion teams? Again im pretty sure only the superstars can be named. Now who here knows who OJ is? Chris Carter? Adrian Peterson? Eric Dickerson? Randy Moss? Dan Marino? Im pretty sure more people know these guys vs the Super Bowl Champions of old. Guess what, none of them have a Super Bowl ring yet we all know and love them and hold them in high regard for what they did on the field during the regular season. Saquon has the chance to cement himself along the lines of those guys with this record. Sadly his prime years were wasted on the Giants so he hasn't had a chance to have multiple seasons of performance like he has with the Eagles. There is no telling when his career may end and that means prime playing time gone to the wind where he could have had more of an impact on the league like he has this year. This record MEANS something and acting like it doesn't is pure delusion.

A bye week heading into the playoffs like this is invaluable. The risk wasn't just to Saquon but to the offensive line, AJ, Devontae, and everyone else who would need to play to get him that record.

@@yoss22h Last year's final game against Giants cost us AJ Bown and Sydney Brown on a Special Teams play. I know even with them, especially AJ, would have giving us a better chance against Tampa in the Wild Card game. I know it's different because there was an outside chance of winning the Division if Dallas lost later that day. Tampa just doubled teamed Smitty (Even though he had a Good Game. But we were so faulty after the Buffalo game,) I'm pretty confident we were not a serious SB contender...We had major systematic problems last year.

What if you deprive saquon of the record to rest your starters to create a "bye" going into the playoffs, just to lose in the wildcard or the divisional round and come away with neither the record nor an NFC Champ/SB appearance. A lot of "what-ifs" here, and most of them lead to this decision blowing up in the Eagles face

Win or lose in the playoffs, it was the correct decision. The MOE in the playoffs shrinks considerably, so in the rare years the team has a legitimate shot at a Super Bowl appearance you have to respect that and do everything possible to increase your odds.

It is a 17-game season, not 16 games. Every healthy player should play. Saquon should have an opportunity to break the record!! The Eagles are playing "SCARY" football. How can Sirianni claim he has a tough team when he is scared to play them. His decision not to allow Barkley to obtain the rushing record is wrong!!! He does not believe in his players. Saquon has a greater chance of becoming the all-time rushing leader than the Eagles winning the SuperBowl. It would be great momentum for the playoffs. I personally feel bad for Nick because if one essential starter got hurt against the Giants the entire world would have requested that he been fired for ‘another’ bad coaching decision. Then he makes a ‘collective’ decision based on several conversations within the entire team and organization and decides to rest starters and yet again he’s condemned for that too.

Only thing now is their is a all time playoff and SB rushing record. The playoff one is by Dickerson 248 yards in one game. The DB 204 yards by Timmy Smith from the Washington Redskins. Of course Barkley wants to, that’s why they have to take helmets away when checking for concussions during games. NFL guys are tough and want to play. Sometimes you have to protect players from themselves. If you play Barkley you would have to play the first team offense and risking multiple top level people getting hurt.

Are they gonna give the fans a refund of the thousands of dollars they paid to see the starters? People don't pay to see backups. Football players get paid millions to play the game, and they could get hurt at any time. They are denying this man a historical achievement that he earned. They are also cheating the O-line and the fans. That would a record for the team as well. The Superbowl is no guarantee. What's more likely to happen is they lose in the first round from losing momentum and Hurts being rusty from being out for a month. That would be about the Eagles luck, no record and no Superbowl and the fans get screwed again.

I just don't understand how so many people can't see the logic of this decision. Every time the Eagles have gotten to a super bowl, they had the number one seed and a bye. Nine times out of ten, the team that makes it to the super bowl had a bye. This tells you having rest gives a huge advantage going into the playoffs. The season has given you a gift. It is allowing you to have an unscheduled bye to get rest and prepare. If you are a fan and don't get that, then maybe you are more interested in flashing lights than actually winning something substantial. The franchise has only won one super bowl. They've had few opportunities to actually win big. They should take every advantage they can to strengthen their chances to do that. Putting all those starters out there to chase a record would've been the dumbest thing this franchise had ever done. And what so many seem to ignore is that 2000 yard rushers generally play for bad and mediocre teams. They're able to get those yards because the team has little to nothing else going on. Terrell Davis is the only one to ever even get to a super bowl. The great Eric Dickerson set that record on a team where he was the only guy on that offense. They had no chance whatsoever of winning anything. All that team had was "the moment." Roger Craig was one of the great running backs that ever played. You think he couldn't have run for a bunch of yards? He didn't because he played on a great team that had other guys, a team that had one ultimate goal every season. The fact that so many Eagles fans are so obsessed with this record shows just how used to winning this fanbase still is. Super Bowl. That's it. Nothing else matters.
