Agree I watched Matthews play the other night and he shoots way to much most all around good players end up with players who pass a lot plus shoot when it is a good time but Vegas shut Toronto down and Matthews took to many bad spot shots instead of passing he has scored lots of goals I just think that the players around him in race are getting lots of assists along with goal scoring it just looked to us he is worried about his scoring more then team player his other mate scores but tries setting a lot of guys up even the fin player excellent players but seem to be on this goal only set of mind lately Marner gets nice goals and assists just a thought on Toronto at Vegas the other night

I was huge on hyman and even went as far to say he could have been captain material. Based on his play but also how he handled the media. Especially after Johnny T's first game back in the Island where leafs got dominanted. He was the only one to handle it right. I got trashed so much online I left social media. It was brutal. Now I'm older and simply don't care. We all are entitled to our opinions but the fact that this is even being talked about in 2024 makes me wanna laugh.

Hyman is a hard working player with great hockey sense. He scores big goals and stands up for his teamates. I don't understand why the Leafs didn't keep him around. He fit their puck possession mandate

@@Sidious6460 Dubas wasn’t the worst GM, but Zachary was obviously a mistake, but Jack Campbell judging by his form wasn’t 🤔 tough in today’s Salary Cap nobody gets it perfect! they replaced him with another local boy in Bunting who was much cheaper and 3 years younger and also scored around the same amount of goal per season it’s ok in hindsight but Bunting like Hyman never broke 25 goals in a season, Zach is having a breakout year and could well top 55 goals this year! Helps playing on McDavid line tho 🤔 TB who’s on similar money not playing on AM34S line if he did I’m sure he have more than just 11 goals imho😏

As far as Soupy???.....Yes.....BUT.....He spent time with Skinner. Skinner RAVED about what a wonderful, supportive, goalie partner he was.....And now look at Skinner...Campbell goes down to Bakersfield and a kid Rodrigue says the exact same things about Jack....And now he is on fire witha ,942 Sav%. Could Jack Campbell be The Goalie Whisperer?.....Is his true magic helping other goalies play better? So far he is 2 for 2 in Edmonton.

Because McDavid is better than them all? If Hyman is on Matthews and Marners line, Matthews is the goal scorer who is getting fed the puck. McDavid is a set up man and is having a not so good year in goal scoring, Hyman is making up for that line.

Throughout history since the first expansion back in the late 60s that the Leafs had traded their best players and ended up winning the Stanley cup with another team past 50+ years, apparently, history shows it and Hyman was one of those best players off the Leafs roster that been traded an eventually can win a Stanley Cup with the Oilers, sounds out of place with the Oilers 😅 but it’s possible IMO

When the Leafs lost in the 1st round to Boston, I said Hyman was the best player on the Leafs and the only guy who was flying out there with energy. Hyman was the hardest working energy guy on the Leafs and that's what they needed most. They gave away what they needed most. Made ZERO SENSE!

What can leaf fans say Dubas was a Dubas.But remember when Gretz was in Edmonton and their was a 50 goal scorer on his line.I forget the name but he was traded to Vancouver and never even scored 30 goals again.Anyone playing on Mc Davids line will score 15 to 20 more goals a season because of him.This is not to knock Hyman every Leaf fan liked him it was just Dubas nickel and dimming because he caused the fab 4 payroll.Good on Hyman good luck to him.

At least Matthews might score enough - to be about at the 13th overall in goal scored in a season & likely the top goal scorer this century. It wasn't the money, it was the term that Hyman wanted. You can argue whether that was a bad move or not, but the Leafs paying Bertuzzi 5.5 for 1 year and paying Hyman 5.5 for 7 (probably would have been 8 with the Leafs) isn't the same thing

Oilers also front loaded the contract.....The Leafs had to sign the Big 4, plus Reilly,...plus figure out what they were going to do in goal......Honestly, Hyman was not THAT dominant in Toronto and his game has improved since coming to Edmonton...Kadri was seen has a selfish player and a headache....Now Leaf Nation wants them both back? Hindsight is also 20/20 vision.

Very simple answer yeah. Tavares wasn’t a centre we needed, and we could have used that money to keep Hyman, some of Dubas’ decisions were great, some were poor. If Hyman was on a line with Matthews and Marner he’d be putting up similar points.

Dubas made so many mistakes. His asset managment and lack of foresight combined with his lack of knowledge for the game was exposed whe he dumped all those picks and own rentals for what, one round. Letting Hyman go for nothing was one his more stupid moves.

The Leafs also threw in 2 bonuses. Because Dubas was all peeved and pouty. he did not want to take a year off Hymans Oilers contract, The Oil got him for an extra year! 7 not 6. The Oilers used the 6th round draft pick they would have given the Leafs to draft Petrov, currently at the AHL level, one step from the NHL. Thanks Toronto!
