I was pretty sure this was either related to the Devs playing around with the lurch affect and things not being out back together properly or simply server performance, especially with the no reg situation returning. I think it has to be down to server performance. In season 11 I think servers were running the best they'd ever been, wonder what has changed... (I don't think this is down to perception, there was noticeably less stutter last season and the servers actually survived the season the launch for the first time in ages)

I noticed the problems more in control, where a ton of people are jammed into a small area. Also, Apex playerbase is at an all time high after s12, so it makes sense

@@eicamer7069 Oh for sure. Certain audio would disappear entirely at times. I remember shooting audioless guns in the middle of the mayhem. But it also brought forth other issues.

At the same time, I had some of the worst server performance I’ve ever experienced last season. There were stretches of hours where it just wouldn’t let me leave a game and connect back to the lobby. Or I’d ready up with a teammate, they’d get into a game, and it would just leave me in the lobby. I’ve played every season and this was the first time I experienced these issues.

Servers were dogshit in season 11, I was getting 120 in Oregon and 90 in iowa and I’m in Vancouver

The dead slides are the only thing I've noticed that's different this season in that they happen way more often. I'm certain that the poor server performance is responsible for making the movement feel worse overall this season. I play on console and the servers are also performing worse than they were in previous seasons for me. Everything feels sluggish because of the crap servers

The deadslide thing has been catching me off guard so many times. That's why I mostly stick to movement legends like path and octane or horizon right now. Seems like frameskipping is also happening way more often, like the servers' cpu gets a buffer overload and has to play catch up.

I think control served as the perfect mode to highlight all the current server and or game issues in Apex. Certain audio would go completely mute in the mayhem (I could be shooting a devotion or car and it'd be muted out), no regs, desync, legends bugging out when there's too many players (bloodhound for example), server disconnections, movement (as the video highlights), and random stutters that are unrelated to hardware. In sure there's more I can't think of rn, but control served as a good environment to see it all. Be nice if we got better servers. New players REALLY want to join the game, but being disconnected from a match that goes on for a good while is a huge killjoy.

I found this movement tech with Maggie!I had a shotgun and ran towards a ledge that was above a staircase, when i vaulted over the staircase as maggie and hit the floor of the staircase, which was about 2 characters tall, i hit the ground and pressed jump and she literally JUMPED TWO PEOPLE HIGH!Idk what it is or how it works but its pretty cool.Not sure what good use it would be but hey, if anyone can figure it out, itd be the og movement god.Great work and another thumbs up from me.

I think part of the reason it also spreads more is confirmation bias. Now that people are talking about the movement shadownerf, every time you get a deadslide you think "oh man shadownerf", and notice them a lot more than previous seasons, maybe making you think it's real. Edit: I know they do also happen more I'm just saying this makes the problem worse than it really is.

I feel like this rumor was only fueled by the fact that Respawn DID shadow nerf movement during the Control playtest at the start of the season. Even though the tap strafe nerf was reversed for the full season release, I'm sure the idea was still brewing in the back of people's heads.

If you want to have a true test of air acceleration, you can use +left and +right turn binds combined with sprint to slow them down and air strafe with the binds to achieve a string of bunny hops. By using +left and right you can have essentially a macro for you mouse movement. I use these binds all the time when i surf on csgo.

FOR THE GIBBY BUBBLE THING: it has been big in the firing range for TWO seasons of play tests hasn’t it? But only in the season 11 and season 12 invite only play test. And when the update comes out the bubble is normal.

I'm pretty sure respawn have lowered server tick rate even further, that's why it feels so different because the game and server aren't synced as closely as before

People would defo notice a lowered server tickrate I'm pretty sure it would totally break the physics in a source game, like in csgo where nade lineups change between 64 and 128 tick servers

Will you ever look at the audio changes made in season 10? its almost unbelievable that this isn't a more widely spoken about topic, I can only assume that's because people were so caught up with the seer release they didn't notice. It takes less that 30 seconds to watch a clip from season 9 and then season 10 and compare them, everything from the directional audio to how far you can hear footsteps. Love the videos btw :)

So I’ve been doing some testing in the Fr this week it seems they are working on it because on the beginning of the week I noticed i consistent frame drops -80 FPS around if I looked in a certain direction. And it was consistent for a few days but then the frame drops moved more to the center of the Firing range before it was by the ult charge up station now it by the shot guns and energy guns

I'm having problems where tap strafing isn't registered every 5 or so strafes. It's probably a problem with the lurch mechanic itself, maybe stemming from the time they nerfed it back in the control testing.

Hi Mokey! Did you do any tests where you did a slide jump on a slope that WASN'T shallow, and tested how much more momentum was regained after landing? That's the only movement thing I've actually felt may be different from last season. There's many slopes on maps that I feel like you'd get much more momentum after slide jumping on that don't feel exactly the same, at least in my head. I explained this in my last comment on your last video as well. Thanks for being the one to do the testing

I have switched to pc but it seems to be harder to super-glide. This can’t be to do with fps because my pc locks the stats at my monitor settings, 4k 60. This could be that I am just bad at doing it on m and k and need more practice, or server lag but it seems very hard to do this season.

The issue is probably depends on how the sever performs or should I call Netcode You might be running at full velocity on your side but on the server side you are not at full velocity trying to slide jump

I believe a change was made to side strafing. It could be server response making it feel more sluggish, but it would also make sense for them to try to steer people away from crouch spamming/side strafing instead of encouraging their community to get better.

7:33 i recently learned tap strafing and it was pretty clear that, pressing a movement option after jumping kills some momentum to the original direction, if you hold the direction key before you take off you can strafe as normal and perform a full velocity tap strafe. Is this changed then or is your timing so tight ?

To be fair, Taxi was banned for over a month. Muscle memory WILL degrade over than time. I know, for me personally at least, that my movement after taking a break does feel slower.

On controller, if you hit a jump cannon and turn 90deg and push forward you can move away from the center of the next one. Which you couldn’t before.

im pretty sure apex changed something in their servers cause i noticed a difference this season and i do not use twitter and i hadn't even seen anything about it before noticing. I shared it with a friend well two but one says he didnt notice, the other also felt that way so i decided to check online and thats when i saw that this was a thing. I honestly think its because apex did something in terms of connection to the servers or something more than them actually nerfing it, they probably would have mentioned something as important as this.

HE didn't consider changes when getting shot or shooting guns while also doing moovement while getting shot by different guns.. and thats real interesting because sometimes I get a gravitational force that saved me from the last bullet or a gravitational force that kills me before I go behind a corner
