I have moved to Aberdeen and... see for yourself, how it makes me feel.
And very randomly... the chair below is very comfy. I've had it for 2 years. It's good for your back. I find myself hours on end sitting on it, instead of jumping to my sofa, after work.
Perfectly adjustable on the height and very sturdy.

Lovely to hear your thoughts on living in Aberdeen . I too am looking at moving from England to Scotland . The people really make it for me , you never really feel alone. I always feel it a friendly place to be ,wherever you actually originate from. I think that if you are polite , kind and not too pushy one will be accepted .

Finally I've found someone who has a completely different opinion about Aberdeen, and coming from someone who lived in London like you, Makes a huge completely different Point of view to the place, Cause to be honest you go to internet and search for the city and you only would see Scottish people focusing in "what a dull place, nothing to do, just avoid it, better Edinburgh and bla bla" but Aberdeen is a city that only specific type of people would enjoy, it's not such as exciting as London that every minute there's something new to focus on, no...in Aberdeen you have to go and walk and explore by yourself all the things that the place has to offer you. And that's why some Scottish people (whose got bored easily) don't value the city I'm student in Dundee and I find the city cool but too much for me, too loud, kinda "Modern" (I'm not a fan of modern) then someday I looked for Aberdeen's uni and the architecture and the history got me and sometimes i feel sad cause some Scottish uni partners call me "Mental" cause I found Aberdeen beautiful at first sight in videos idk maybe because I'm such a nostalgic soul, but I found the buildings, the grey, the quietness, how "Isolated" this place is from the rest of the world and I found It idyllic, so yeah you and your opinion made a encouragement in my decision of moving there. Excellent video by the way and Also i value the quality of the houses, that's huge factor too.

Thank you for such a heartfelt comment! I am sorry to hear that you had to change your mind about studying here, but happy to know that not all is lost. You are right about exploring Aberdeen on foot, by oneself. I do that a lot and it truly clears my mind and soul. You seem to understand and love this city. I'd say: what are you waiting for?!! You now got me curious about Dundee! I'll watch a few videos about it and perhaps visit the city in the coming weeks! Good luck with your decision!

@@legalitetongue3276 Aww thanks for your Reply, it means a lot to me 😊, Yeah in my opinion aesthetically Aberdeen is beautiful , I got such different Point of view about this city, As you said, grey doesn't mean Sad or Depressive place, I find the grey aesthetic of the buildings really impressive, when is sunny they sparkle, and when is dark day they get laced with the atmosphere And it makes the city seems gothic and unique, pretty european and charming, (but of course not the type of beauty that everyone values and it's ok) but also Aberdeen has a huge nature resources and green and wonderful parks, beach, The housing's quality as you said, (i made a research and FUN FACT!: those buildings in Aberdeen have last more than a lot of old ancients constructions in London, Edinburgh or Glasgow. The granite is So STRONG material, they stand a lot of external factors, anyway Aberdeen has a melancholic Beauty and for sure is just a place for introverts (like me), and the issue is that the majority of Scottish people has the passionate spirit, so they always would prefer a exciting place to have a good banter and hang out after work or on weekends with friends and family, (Especially young people) and this is because generally we get kinda bored in this little country, so that's why a lot Scottish people avoid Aberdeen cause "There's nothing to do there" no jobs, no opportunities etc Aberdeen is the type of city that only would fit on people who just want to focus on themselves, have a daily and quite life, in my personal experience being a Uni student I got enough responsibilities in my head and I had to admit that living in a place that is characterized as "bored" or "quite" it really contributes to the mental health and calm" anyway. My pleasure to share opinions with you. 😊

Most cities are corrupt especially the heart of London which is full of corruption from the so called Royalty establishment to the politicians the courts and the police establishments but its all over the UK. I know this has nothing to do with this video but I need to have a rant.

I'm from Edinburgh but have lived in Aberdeen for 20 years. It's colder but does get the most sunlight out of all cities in Britain.. apparently It's a bit grey in winter but the granite looks great in the summer. It must be like a small village compared to London.

I think if you have the right money you can live in any city or town but you do need the money to live in the best part of town away from the lower grade areas were it is not a fun place to live. The only difference from London and Aberdeen is Aberdeen has less crowds and so not as busy as London.

I would say any city/town outside London is a better place to live! Regent Street (Aberdeen) is nick named millionaires road! (Big houses) Aberdeen has got really busy with the oil industry, fishing, so many new companies have set up their stalls in Aberdeen! I was born in Edinburgh, I have lived in Aberdeen when the oil boom started, I now live in the new town (Livingston) I would suggest to anyone moving to Scotland to life/stay in a small town/city which is just outside the big cities and visit them if need be? Over the bridges is where the real Scotland starts! Enjoy your new life in Bonny Scotland - drive up north and see why it is bonny!

I recently visited Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and Inverness with the intention to move up there from London. But I am still left worried. Aberdeen was a favourite but it is so grey. Prices in supermarkets the same if not higher than London. As for jobs and salary, I don't see it being as a competitive market. So I left even more confused (and somehow disappointed). Maybe a return in summer would be good. And a revisit of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Hi Clara. 1. It all depends on your motivation to relocate -- it needs to be strong, if you are used to a busy city/life. 2. Aberdeen is greyer on videos than in real life, especially if you are talking about the energy (people). Meaning that grey doesn't have to mean sad. 3. You can always travel elsewhere for greater fun. To me, home feeling has always been what Aberdeen offers me -- quietness. 4. Groceries prices always depend on where you shop and what you consume. I don't see an increase in my budget. 5. Housing in Aberdeen is cheaper and better than in London. This to me, is a huge factor. 6. I am not here for the job market as I work from home, for London and the world. It would indeed be difficult to find competitive jobs as one easily does in London. 7. To conclude: Aberdeen is perfect for loners, couples and families alike, who want to essentially live alone and for each other. My days are longer than when I used to live in London. Mostly because the stress and noise are gone. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with your decision!

Yes salaries in Aberdeen won't compete with salaries London, however the costs of rent or buying in Aberdeen are so much cheaper leaving Aberdeen residents with a higher disposable income, upto 2019 Aberdeen was known statistically as the wealthiest city in the whole UK based on disposable income

... and good value for money on rent -- definitely. I love the personal space that one gets here, in the streets, and the fact that I manage to reach everything at a walking distance. Walking 40 minutes to my favorite grocery shop is agreeable. I am inspired to take driving lessons, though, so to enjoy long drives within Scotland. All in all, Aberdeen is beautiful to my soul :).

People that move there now won't know how good it was and they will think its okay. But realistically, its high crime and overpriced for what you get overall (looking at all areas). It is not rundown though (overall). The commuications and services are not good. Postal services often charge extra to post there becasue there are NO MOTORWAYS going there! It is windy and people that say its not bad have not had anything better... Or they are people persons, the people are overall more friendly, but its not worth it. After the oil and gas has come down, the prices haven't. People in austerity are kind and welcoming, it human nature. Plenty of safer cities to live that have good ppl (in Scotland). Work is the problem. Scotland is a great place to live, but a sh*t place to work! 😂

Biggest mistake you could ever make. Aberdeen was officially voted the most miserable city in Europe. They sell more vitamin D tablets in Boots Aberdeen branch than anywhere else in the U.K because of sun deficiency. The North East of Scotland only gets around 30 days of sun per year. The people are dour, pessimistic and are always complaining. 95 percent of Scottish people live in the green belt, basically Edinburgh and Glasgow because that is where the jobs and shops are. A Glasgow taxi driver once said, Union Street full of pound shops, charity shops and vape shops. So glad I moved to Tokyo 15 years ago, It is a higher quality of life over here. I would never go back to developing Scotland.

There are physically darker places in Europe and even worse -- emotionally darker than Aberdeen. "Biggest mistake you could ever make" is quite relative. In my case, for what I was looking for, it was the best decision I made, considering my circumstances when I made the decision to move here. Regarding those statistics... I am mature enough not to be deceived by them. Aberdeen checked 90% of my boxes and that was enough for me to make the move. Now, will I live here for the rest of my life? Probably not. And that has nothing to do with vitamin D intake! Hahaha!
