I like the black and gray but not sure about the green. It weird I don't know what color you would replace it. Are they pairing down their the production line maybe?

💯 it’s a GMT so the key function - finding that hand to get the time in the 2nd time zone. And that green just doesn’t pop out. Should have been silver, red, yellow.

Yes, the 1908 is my favorite Rolex release. Unfortunately, I don't play in that price bracket. It's a great watch though. I hope we see some further expansion of that dial finish. Maybe a navy blue in steel or white gold? I'd love to see it. Clearly with the Coke bezel patent, we'll get one at some point, but this release is fine. If it was released with the Coke bezel, it would have been a great one-two punch from Rolex. This year overall was definitely quiet for the brand. The Deep Sea is something else alright. I don't hate it, but am not the target customer. The rebranding of the Sea Dweller Deep Sea to Deep Sea needed to happen (Are you listening Omega...hint: Railmaster?).

Everyone is talking about the 1908 series light blue dress watch being the highlight of the releases. The more I think about the releases this year, the more I consider the possibility Rolex’s weak professional watch releases was to get attention for their 1908 line of dress watches.

3:04 i’ve heard the same comment from a number of watch influencers… And people seem to forget that there is a segment of population of large sized men for whom traditional watches look undersized. Rolex came out with a lefty recently. Yet, a lot of influencers took the opportunity to claim how ridiculous a large gold watch is and that “it’s not for me” virtue signaling. Hey, some people may be collectors and every serious Collector sooner or later wants a gold watch.

Speaking generously, this was certainly a relaxed year for Rolex... which is okay. I appreciated the display of the factory gem setting prowess they have cultivated and I even think that the Day-Date in RG with blue dial that has the diamond bezel is a stunning piece. The all gold Deepsea is cool for a few reasons. First it's a great way to announce that the Deepsea is it's own line officially. I also like how it is kind of a spiritual successor to the YG Yacht-master II since that entire line in now gone. Lastly it represents something that is truly Rolex (as an adjective), that is of course being the marrying of the technical and the luxurious. Despite what you said about it not being a professional dive watch, it has all the same technical capabilities of its steel clad kin. I also think it just makes sense to make full precious metal Sky-Dwellers with the Jubilee. It rounds out that line nicely. Where they lost me was with the GMT Master II and the 1908. While I like the black / grey bezel insert coming to a steel variant, it being combined with the green gmt hand and dial text just comes off to me as a bit of "kitbashing". That's not to say that I don't like it, just that it feels very phoned in. Likewise pairing the platinum 1908 with the same brown strap is evocative of the same feelings I have about the GMT but in away it's a little worse. I say worse because the 1908 represents Rolex finally getting the dress watch right and this one in particular exemplifies a very competent degree of fine dial work yet both of those attributes are somewhat spoiled by the recycling of the same, albeit nice, brown leather strap. It's also a personal prerogative but I don't like brown leather with cooler tone precious metals.

The green belongs on the original LN. The grey/black bezel insert is a mismatch. The 1908 is cool but, in the price range, it’s got a lot of competition. That gold deep sea is ugly and tells you a lot about the wearer. Everyone deserves a rest year…even Rolex.

This watch you show is the real worthwhile release for the vast majority of watch enthusiasts, They are never going to be able to afford any of these things anyway and as another KZbinr said earlier today there is absolutely nothing for the little guy. Rolex have gone down the line of Lets spunk diamonds over everything and if we’re not doing that let’s get lots of gold and platinum so we can justify very high prices on watch movements cases and bracelets that are only ever worth 6 to $8000.

It’s NOT ridiculous (the Rolex Deepsea in 18k gold) Rolex knows the market better than you. I want this particular watch more than any other Rolex watch.

Even more unobtainable Rolex watches. What's the use ot this video? What's the use of this brand? Is the only brand's goal bribing customers into buying other watches and jewels to get bumped up on the never ending waiting list?
