Aaron has been THE top commentator since day 1, the insight he gives in every match he casts is amazing. Joining Aaron and Wolfey to cast games was just a genius decision, they're some of the greatest of all time playing, their commentary is on point and their sense of humor is also great. This final was easily my favorite commentary on Pokemon ever

Alongside common threats against Calyrex Shadow Rider; I ultimately think it's because of the fact that everyone also hyper tuned to counter it, while other restricted mons were able to get away with hidden/uncalculated techs; people's cores were ultimately tuned to deal w/ Calyrex Shadow Rider I am extremely curious on how people will use Calyrex Shadow Rider coming up to NAIC/post NAIC. Since people are gonna be are more keen to using Miraidon/Ice Calyrex Riders; there might be a situation where the meta revolves solving situations for Miraidon/Ice Calyrex instead of Shadow Rider; where it can start seeing top plays again I still felt so bad about Joe Ugarte, that guy was winning left/right, and even on some big online tourneys on limitless; he was effectively going X-0 consistently

That's basically what Wolfe said. A player gets a lot of value out of the likes of a wide guard pelliper as a hard counter to ice rider since you shut down their entire team. Or a bunch of other Pokémon to check the same anticipated "best in format." There are a lot of otherwise low value mons that serve as individual checks to get a lot of value in a format when they shut down the single only restricted on an opponent.

Still have yet to see a Miraidon work on ladder yet that wasn't Rajan's version. Only reason i'm still not super sold on it. But the tera electric choice specs with that brilliant supporting cast built around it was the most insanely fun "nuke button" team i've seen in a long time

I think Bloodmoon and Farigiraf lead kinda just makes Shadowrider feel worse especially since it’s partner can’t fake out pressure or any sort of strong offensive play into either Pokémon who can trick room and hyper voice turn one

Imo the biggest problem with calyrex shadow is other calyrex shadow; If you are playing calyrex shadow it is really hard to prevent the game depending on a speedtie, causing it to be extremely difficult to get really good consistent winrates above 80% when using calyrex shadow. This means that using calyrex shadow would just instantly drop your likelyhood to win large tournaments so top players stopped using it and with more casual players often following top players a bit on average calyrex shadow usage could get much lower than you would expect when looking at its raw power.

This maybe a joke but during series12 is Sw/Sh I was having trouble with Caly S teams and I asked the guys in r/VGC what was the best counter to Caly S and these dudes staight up said use your own Caly S. note: I was using Solgaleo teams as firm beleiver of the space lion

Ive noticed the same, sometimes just not bringing your shadow calyrex against mirror match allows you to decrease pressure for preserving him.

@@Robck27 Yeah, and since people running Caly S teams don't have much other heavy hitters and not bringing it, that just decreases the pressure but not help win the game much easier. The game that was streamed on Day 1 of Rajan was a proof of this, they did not bring Caly and struggled a lot, and if they brought it, it would have been even harder.

21:56 I've been using someone's recreation of Keanu's Zamazenta team on ladder and it feels great. Zamazenta doesn't need Iron Defense; +1 Body Press already does great damage and Zamazenta simply does not die, especially with Grassy Terrain up. No matter what restricted I'm up against, I feel like I have some way to beat it.

I think people have missed that Miriadon has better raw bulk than raging bolt, 100/100/115 Tera electric is really hard to put down with a neutral move. Also Keanu/michael derbeste’s crazy zam team that won Stockholm was built by ESM. Absolute mad genius.

I think Grimmsnarl is an underrated pick right now in Regulation G. It's a Prankster mon with misty terrain that can imprison common moves like fake out, body press and protect.

I brought just a standard screens + twave set to my first tour (spear pillar) and got second. (Koraidon team by the way) Didn’t always bring it as it was my 6th slot but it was insanely useful at times for sure. I like it a lot

I don't think shadow rider is overrated. It's just trainers knew it was coming that they prepared for it. Same idea with miraidon. Most say it is mid at most that when someone saw a potential, most are not ready to face it.

I think the reason why he used Hyper Beam on Terapagos Choice Specs is because Terapagos doesn't need any coverage, being able to hit neutral on every Pokémon. But he needs a strong Normal Type Attack that is not Terastal Storm (he loses the stab with the Tera). But Terapagos doesn't learn any good Normal Move outside of Terastal Storm.

My thoughts: BMUrsaluna+Farigiraf will be here to stay: Dual immunity to Astral Barrage, Armor Tail blocking all cross-field priority (Fake Out, Grassy Glide), Trick Room compatibility, BMUrsaluna hitting like a truck Zamazenta will likely become the most balanced pick for the sole Restricted Legendary - Bulky + Dauntless Shield + Body Press, Good number of immunities and resistances, Wide Guard to block Water Spout, Astral Barrage, Glacial Lance, Tera Starstorm
