These older bikes are the real deal. No electronics that's interfering and no stupid screens with phone connection. Just you and the bike so as it supposed to be

I also have a 24 year old bike, an SV650s from 1999, yeah its risky, needs to be painted, the headlight assembly could be better, the previous owner did something to it and its not that good at night. But hey, it as 50k kms almost, the engine is fine, everything mechanical is fine. Im loving it, trully am, and im learning a lot.

I just bought one two weeks ago. The engine is in great 😊 condition, just a few fairing scratches. I haven’t ridden it yet it’s still being cleaned up. Thanks for sharing your insights.

I'm having the same experience with mine, bought it last June, it has been transformed into a black streetfighter with the look of a 2004 Z750 on steroids... Fantastic engine, very consistent in every situation, reliable, beautiful, comfortable even for the pillion ... A great deal for only 1.600 euros and the bike is simply perfect. Ah, and she's a loudy rocket when you hit top revs with her MIVV carbon exhaust without DB killer ... 😁 Thanx, great vid!

Those are tough old bikes, i have owned several ZX-9R’s through the years, the biggest issue that the 98/99’s had were in the transmission, 3rd &/or 4th gears were notorious for going out, kawi sorted this issue out on the 00-03 models.

When the lights stay on after taking the key out, you've accidentally left it on 'park'. Theres a tiny extra click of the key after steering lock. It's not a gremlin lol. I've had my 97 zx6r for 17 years and its bulletproof, comfortable and great fun to ride....

Good practice is to change engine oil and filter cca 1000km after replacing clutch plates, it is more contaminated with friction material when clutch is new. Or much sooner if you use clutch aggressively.
@snakeman9902 Жыл бұрын
With the wiring problem with the lights staying on and the breaks, is it worth taking it to a mechanic? You've done a great job on this beautiful classic, 35k on the clock? Plenty of life left, just may be a question on how much more you would be prepared to spend on it.. 👍

I traded a rusty Mazda 3 for a 99 zx9r last month. I’ve only ridden the bike once( had to fix quite a few problems) but I definitely won the trade. It’s a little ugly but it runs beautifully now.These older bikes are great values as long as you don’t mind putting a little work into it.

Just bought a c2 in red same design as yours, 28k 1 owner for 1500. All ways had 929s but Thought I'd go a little more comfortable. Not the same type of bike but the zx is a superb sports bike. Planted but not heavy, fast and predictable. Very under priced if you ask me.

I have a mix of old and new bikes(All Kawasaki) In general old bikes are cheaper to buy, more expensive to maintain/keep on the road and much less depreciation
@timrains501110 ай бұрын
Most older used bikes I've bought have had mechanical issues that weren't advertised with the bike (once from a reputable national dealership who refused to refund me when a vfr800 I'd bought for over £4k remotely on trust turned out to be running on 3 cylinders - an irreparable problem as it turned out). Remember you're buying something that someone no longer wants - more often than not there's a sinister reason for that. Always try before you buy, grifters will be reluctant to allow test rides (without cash in hand). Walk away. There's also the 6 owner bikes with just 16,000 miles - yeah right - new clocks probably crash repaired. My advice is that the risk needs to be reflected in the price - don't fall in love with something because it's clean and shiny - all that glitters isn't gold. (All that looks shite isn't gold either)
