Muchas gracias Venerable señora, mi intuición me decía que el Buddha ofreció una oportunidad igual en sus enseñanzas de purificar la mente y alcanzar la paz imperturbable del Nibbana. Sadhu sadhu sadhu

This video is the most reasonable, common sense and applicable to equal opportunity to achieve enlightenment. I always question the discrimination against women ordination with no justifiable moral. I knew my teacher "The Buddha" could not implement such limitations, to me it was mostly man wrong view and intention doing, prolonged alone time unfortunally. To be free from suffering and defilement does not require you belong to a certain gender, only to stop emotional reactions. To free your mind and attain enlightenment is not about if you are sexually born man or woman. The only thing that make a woman different from man is the ability a woman has to give birth to a baby. Or am I wrong? Thank you Venerable madam.

Perhaps the school of elders rejects their connections with later schools of Buddhism as well, but everything is interconnected and interdependent. All sentient beings have Buddha Nature. I would suggest to focus on The Four Mindfulness and The Four Immeasurables. This too, those of the teachings of orthodox school will reject, yet is it not in the Buddha’s Teachings? Is it not the crux and spirit of Buddhism? Attachment to the Letter of the Law and no The Spirit of the Law is the difference. Dialogue, cooperation, and fellowship is what is most important if we are to build Friendship, as what did the Buddha say about Friendship and practicing The Way? May all beings obtain Final Liberation.

Yes buddha was against women ordination and later his disciple debate or discuss with buddha. And then buddha allow women to take ordination

She is doing something really horrible in this video. Instead of asking and delving the reason why Buddha prevented women from joining the monastic, she is trying to justify her conclusion that the event never took place. She also should had delve into the reason why the Dharma will last half the time the Dharma could have lasted. I'm not saying women cannot achieve enlightenment like men. However, the psychology of women are somewhat different from men.

The Venerable is pointing out the simple facts. The Buddha ordained women. That is historically clear. The Buddha repeatedly stated that it was not through birth but through right thought, speech and action that one demonstrated their worth. That is there repeatedly in the texts yet some still try to argue it is through birth (as a man or woman). This is an excellent treatise summarising a very strong evidence base that would be completely consistent with the rest of the Buddha's teaching and refuting the parts of the texts that are not consistent. This is exactly what the Buddha asked us to do, not believe everything we hear (oral tradition) or read (texts) but think for ourselves and see if it is consistent. Thank you for following the Buddha's advice so closely Venerable!

@@hasanthagunasekera7351 That's right. The Buddha did ordained women after rejecting it SIX times. And He also said the Dharma will last half the time it could if He didn't ordain women. This event DID take place. So whatever justification she used to deny the event is only AFTER Buddha had ordained women. Women were already part of the Sangha.
@hasanthagunasekera73517 ай бұрын
@@HuiChyr If the texts are correct, then the Buddha was wrong to state the Dhamma would only last 500 years if he ordained women as he did ordain women and its still here 2,500 years later. That alone is evidence that these things were added later....
@HuiChyr7 ай бұрын
@@hasanthagunasekera7351 The Buddha said "Dharma in this age would be shortened by 500 years or more." Meaning if IT was suppose to last 5000 years, it will only last 4500 years or less. It's math. But then again, our argument has shot of the tangent from the point I was making. Why Buddha refuse ordination of women?

@@HuiChyr No...the reference is Anguttara Nikaya 8.51 and the pali is as follows :Pañceva dāni, ānanda, vassasatāni saddhammo ṭhassati. (Bhante Sujato translates as "The true teaching will remain only five hundred years." So, either you claim every word of the text is correct, which means the Buddha was wrong in AN8.51 Or, the text must be corrupted (as it contains something that is evidently wrong as the Dhamma has lasted 2,500 years), in which case the Venerable's explanation is a clear and concise explanation of where it was corrupted Or, the text is right and the Buddha dhamma is not "the true teaching", in which case we are perfectly justified to examine where it is wrong (again, the Venerable's explanation is a clear and concise explanation)
