All Electric guitars are painted with Automotive paint. I use Meguiar's products. You would most likely need to use a polishing compound/scratch remover to get those sports off, then use a wax on it. (I recommend Meguiars Ultimate polish to really bring out the shine. I really find it funny how we at Guitarist will cough up 12 bucks for a 4 ounce bottle of polish, when you can go to the auto parts store and get a 16 ounce bottle of Meguiars spray detail spray wax & clearer for 9 bucks. I have used this stuff for years and it does just fine on all my Fenders and Gibson's. BTW, I used to work for Fender back in the 1980's, do you know what we used in final assembly to polish the guitars up with? Wait for it.... Johnson's Liquid floor wax..............because we could buy it in 55 gallon drums.
@onemoreguitarchannel2 жыл бұрын
Haha that’s awesome! Use whatever works 😂. I love hearing stories like that. Meguiars seems to be everyone’s suggestion so I’m going to try it along with a couple of other suggestions and see how it goes. It is funny how marketing can get us sometimes, “it says guitar polish so it must be better” I get it and still fall for it 😁. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@onemoreguitarchannel You're most welcome. I had a chance to talk with the Meguiar's rep at a trade show years ago, not only does Meguiar's recommend their products for guitars, he uses them on his own as well.
@BudgetRC_Channel2 жыл бұрын
@@onemoreguitarchannel I use automotive products too. For something as minor as those water spots, you can probably get them off with an automotive cleaner wax, which has an ever so slight abrasive in it. For more stubborn scratches and marks, I use either automotive rubbing compound or swirl remover. As you go up in grit, it is more effective, but is also more likely that you can go through the finish and leave yourself with a much bigger mess, so this takes some experience. But, you're pretty safe with the mild stuff like the swirl remover and cleaner waxes.

As an owner of both Gibsons and their recent Epiphone equalivalents (2020-22), I've come to the conclusion that Gibsons are not worth the extra money anymore, unless you feel that they are to you. As long as the guitars are well made and properly set up, then it's all about how you feel about them, at the end of the day. There may be differences in the materials and hardware used, but the gap is certainly getting smaller now, especially with the 'inspired by Gibson' range and also the artist signature models that Epiphone have released recently. Heck, I have an Epi LP Custom that has an ebony fretboard on it - Gibbo can't even give me that unless I pay 7 to 8 times the price. Ultimately, it's about what you are prepared to pay and also how happy you are to pay an increasing larger premium for the name on the headstock and the country in which it was made. In terms of quality, the price variation between these brands is not reflected in the proportionate difference in quality or value for money of their products. Gibson knows that money in tight now, which is why they are making their Epiphones better value than they have ever been.They also know that people who are not price sensitive and are brand loyal will always pay more (and more, and more). Each to their own. 🙂
@onemoreguitarchannel2 жыл бұрын
Epiphone is making some killer stuff right now, although some of the prices are rising to a point that my brain hasn’t accepted yet haha. But I agree, you can still get some great stuff at lower prices. Like you said, it may need a little work but it’s worth it for a good guitar at a good price. I do think there is more to Gibson than just the name though, you do get something more for your money but I can’t say how valuable it really is. It just comes down to what’s valuable for each player I suppose. The ebony thing gets me too. I feel like it’s, you can have this for $600 but if you want it on a Gibson it’s $5K. Genius marketing I guess. Cheers!
@jordanpratt38212 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can argue that Gibsons are just "better", but are they 6 times the cost better???? That I'm not sure of.
@gregweber33872 жыл бұрын
I feel the same way. I'm a fan of the Gibson acoustics more than the electrics but is a Gibson Dove at $4,499 10 times better than the $449 Epiphone Dove? The Gibson Hummingbird is $3,999 although they do have a new Hummingbird Faded Natural guitar for $3,499. You can get the Epiphone Hummingbird for $349. So is the Gibson 10 times better than the Epiphone? Uh......no. As a result, all of my acoustic guitars are Epiphone.
@gregweber33872 жыл бұрын
Here's a video I watched a while back on Guitareo where they compared a Gibson J45, Les Paul, and SG to the same guitars from Epiphone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/foq0fmiolNR4ps0

I’ve played many Gibsons and own a 2000s SG Special. I like mine, but it’s quite tired and needs a fret job at this point. I haven’t been impressed by any of the modern Gibsons. I might take a trip down to guitar center this weekend to try some out again. I want an ebony SG Standard, but the cost is ridiculous.

Music Nomad guitar polish (not the detailer/cleaner or the guitar one, the actual polish) has a light cutting component in it that may get rid of the spots and small scratches.

You might want to try Meguiar's Scratch-X to clean the finish. They call it a scratch remover. I think it could clean up your guitar to some degree. That's a nice sounding LP. Dealers really need to keep track of their inventory. When I bought my new American Standard Strat a few years ago the dealer couldn't find the case candy, molded case, arm, nothing. He ended up ordering the case candy packet and arm for me and he upgraded me free of charge to a G & G plywood traditional hardshell tolexcase. So I came out ahead. That Gibson bag looks nice.

A pretty nice guitar. Glad you're happy with it. I definitely like that case. Much more padding than the standard gig backs that sometimes come with guitars.

Hi Kyle, regarding the water spots on your guitar, where I live in Hawaii we have very acidic water and the rain does leave bad water spots on my truck. The water spots aren't just on the surface but it's embedded into the clear so there is no way to compound or buff them out without eliminating some of the clear coat. I hope that this isn't the case with your guitar being that the nitro finish on a guitar is way softer than a clear coat finish on a vehicle. I thought I would pass this on to possibly save you some time , trouble and headache trying to figure out a way to get out those water spots that may not totally disappear.

Great guitar for the price. I picked up a returned tangerine burst a few months ago 300 list and love it. I was never an LP guy had a 77 custom I always thought was heavy, gave it to my son who was born in 77. I picked up a DC tribute special with p90’s and fell in love. When I saw this with the coil taps and weight relief for 300 off it was a no brained especially since I’m not a binding fan! These guys are great axe for the price and if you see one for a couple hundred off buy it. It’s an investment right thats what I tell my wife😂😂 Happy New Year. The Hack

Get you some Meguires car polishes in different cuts. Take those scratches and spots right out.
@angrypickle2 жыл бұрын
Gonna sound odd.. but you could try toothpaste (not a whitening one) on the water spots. Try as inconspicuous of an area as possible at first. You need something with very light abrasive qualities. Or, perhaps something like Meguiar's cleaner wax for cars. Not sure how it would do on a nitro finish though... again try in a very small spot somewhere not that noticeable first.
@onemoreguitarchannel2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about trying the toothpaste too. If it works that would be a great solution for this kind of thing. I’ll try it out, if it works I’ll make a video. Thanks for the suggestion!
