There's nothing like The Saboteur on the market. The artstyle, the time period, the music, the gameplay, the progression. It's a masterpiece. So sad we'll never get a second game -.-

"Begins with this video getting demonetized" lmaoo Your story summation is so good on this game. I think more games need to play on color palette mechanics, it seems so satisfying to just blow some stuff up and bring life back to an area
@MayorHairBear4 жыл бұрын
I forgot to turn nudity off so I knew I'd need to do some censoring myself xD I would love to see more games adopting the colour mechanics from The Saboteur because it helps make blowing stuff up even more satisfying!
@Avantime4 жыл бұрын
The colour palette was nice at the beginning, but it got annoying after a while because of the busywork needed to liberate areas, and that some areas (IIRC) cannot be liberated until near the end of the game, so you're not seeing the full splendour of the city until there's nothing left to do.

That's dope that the colour palette (or lack of) plays a part onto the gameplay/story. I always wanted to play this game because the tone looked interesting. So glad you made this one.

When I was a kid I would get the ole GameInformer magazine and saw a whole article about The Saboteur pre-release. It really hyped me up to play it. I've actually recently replayed it on my PC and I must say, it's aged well. It's open world gameplay brings some current gen games to shame and the tone of the whole thing is fantastic. I still remember the tunes on the car radio to this day.

Looking through GameInformer is how I found out about so many games so I can relate to that 100% 😂 The Saboteur has aged really well, still a blast to play to this day and you're right, it does put some titles today to shame

It's straight up an Assassin's Creed game. I mean it has the parkour, is set in a historic time and the thing in the box is definitely a relic of Eden. Like...c'mon it's WWII Assassin's Creed.

When you said it's been 11 years since this game came out it hit me right in the feels. Makes me feel like an old man lol. I had extremely fond memories of this game because of how unique it was and back then I absolutely loved open world games like this. The stealth, parkour and colour use are without a doubt my favourite parts about it. They really stuck with me. I always wanted a sequel but that'll never come :( I actually didn't realise Pandemic made Battlefront and Destroy All Humans - once again staples of my childhood. Great video my friend!

what i love about the game (which might pass in front of some players very eyes) is how the npcs,namely nazis and civilans,do act differently in an occupied (black and white) zone vs "liberated" (colours:on) zone in first nazis actign there like masters bullying civilans,with civilans trying to evade nazis or unintentionaly getting into trouble with them vs the later,where nazis stays mainly around their instalations with citizens acting normally like the nazis aint there,having fun at park,etc. and personally enjoy the game for this aspect,seing the change,especially when the colour returns animation plays out,reminding me of Shadow of war´s Region conquered animation after the fort is captured. also,want some additional silliness within the game? go and jump with Sean from a height and you will soon realize who is Sean´s voice actor (due to Sean´s irish voice changes to TF2 Medic´s screams)

Wow another great review man ! I remember playing this with a buddy of mine having one of those all night got to beat it sessions back in the day . I don’t know if anyone else saw the connection but the black and white colors always reminded me of schindlers list and that whole aesthetic. Also if you wanted a suggestion for a review idea or just something to play for yourself I wanted to recommend you check out Stubbs the Zombie :Rebel without a Pulse I feel like it was lost to time nowadays but it’s truly worth checking out just for the awesome soundtrack if nothing else !

@ИванБорисюк-п7э3 ай бұрын
I wouldn't agree about the story. It lacks a bit of polishing and development for certain characters, it's quite basic but it's still interesting due to the setting and really interesting characters. Veronique is too bleak, I'll agree on that, their love story with Sean doesn't feel natural. He has way more chemistry with Skylar, on every level. Also Dierker is just a cartoonish evil bad guy, he could have had a little bit more role in the game, he's just not present throughout most of game. But the rest of the characters are really charismatic. I already said about Skylar, she's just something. Her boss, Bishop is quite interesting, too and I think it was quite clever of the writers to put many tropes that we are used to into the story but they make them work. 'What's in the box?' moment is genuinely funny to me. All the leaders of the resistance are really interesting as well if you complete their mission. The Padre is the best, chinese psychiatrist is great, the lady that worked in Louvre and was all about saving arts, heck, even Luc, even though I personally don't like him, but he's well written. And also the direction of the story is quite good, I would say. The moment when colours fade away when Dierker kills Jules is really well directed. Cut scenes are well made, the final moment when Sean walks to the Eifel tower and you hear the "Feeling Good" played on the piano from afar, while Nazi's soldiers fall down from the top is a really artistic approach. They could have made it just another battle with lots of enemies going all the way to the top but they kept it interesting through the change of the scenery. Even then, the first time playing, having just left behind the battle in the factory you walk really carefully, with you gun out, just to see the mayhem that happened without Sean. So yeah, the story is simple and has a lot of cliches and tropes, but I think it holds very well and does the job.

not a good game. another casualty of the cod 4 recovering health trend that ruined many games gameplay/gunplay. it feels low budget, the story is meandering and gets nowhere, the cutscenes are about on par with a ps1 game (GTA 3 for example has MUCH more animated cutscenes that are actually interesting to look at) no interesting characters, the lack of color sucks all the joy of looking at the game, the pc version isnt working for half of the people, the ps3 version has horrid tearing 100% of the time only really good things i can say are okay driving physics (about on par with GTA 3 aka the worst driving 3d GTA) and the good setting. i cant think of a single thing this game does better than Mafia 1 from 2002.
