Fantastic Car! Back at 18 yrs old I had a 1970 Mach 1 Red/Black loaded with options but was a 428 SCJ Ram Air Automatic with the 4:30 Detroit Locker. I still remember the VIN for the car oh so many years later. Car was only 5 yrs old.

Wow,,, awesome machine !!! By 1970 Lee Iacocca's daily driver was a chauffeur driven limousine,,, Iacocca loved the trappings of wealth and had definitely earned it. If he personally drove it at all it probably totaled a few hundred miles..

I'm NOT a Ford fan but it's a very nice car, my uncle owns a 69 SCJ 428 Mustang that he's owned since 1970, still has the original front tires(they are cracked to hell but still to have them!!) Candy red, shaker hood rear louvers, power windows, am/fm and rim blow horn. He's turning 74 in November and wants to give it to me, I'm 55 and feel bad taking it I said I'd buy it but he doesn't want.

Had a 70 SCJ 428 R code Drag Pak. Manual 63B sports roof, black with white interior.. Optioned with shaker, wing and chinspoiler. According to the Martin report was built for the transit car pool at Ford Dearborn. Still exists here in Australia.

The 1069 notch back 428 SCJ or what they codes as the R engine. Was real popular with the Drag race Crowd the fit better into super stock class than the fast back. Many guys bought Sandy Eliot & Berry Pool Race team raced one and won a bunch of races!

My dad has a 70 Mach 1 428. It is a drag pack SCJ car. There was a car at Carlisle one year like the one in the video, maybe it was a 69. He was running it at the drag strip on friday night. He was doing exhibition runs with another car that also ran FAST or one of those stock appearing drag groups.

This guy nailed it and its clear he has been behind the wheel of some classics. The 70 is the epitome of the Mustang family . Only slightly edging out the 69 . The Foxes and then the new cars are still mustangs and they do what they do very well but these old Horses put in the work and paved the road for all these new cars today. The 64.5-5 and 6s are fun light feeling little cars that are a blast to throw around or get on a twisty road with if youve done the right work in the front end . The 67s and 8 fastbacks are in a place all their own drag racing and the small block cars in the twistys but the 70........... The 70 was just fun to sit in . The driving position and the look out over the dash . Even tho all the suspension was virtually the same they just feel better driving and you want to spend time in it... This black Beauty is a mighty fine example and I would love to know what its true story really is . I wonder how many of these things were play toys that were just cast aside by execs but still have very interesting stories behind them.... Nice Video Evan.

The 8000 tack was only available in Shelby's to find one in a regular Mustang is real rare! This also goes for any mustang that had a 140 Speedometer! They did end up in some regular mustangs but not vary often! I seen a 1970 Grande' with a 140 speedometer and a Cheap 302 Mustang Coupe with a 8000 RPM tach! Both of these cars had came from ford that way1

My Grandfather had one of those in Competition Yellow & Close Ratio 4-speed. It got stolen while he was shopping for tires. The shell of the car was later found ditched underneath one of the bridges in the area with everything else stripped of it. All my life I have heard stories of this car. I then later pictures of the car from my uncle that he found. These are the only pictures I believe exist of the car. Then stood up, walked into his room and shut the door behind him. Would love to build a clone of the car one day. But always as a reminder Lock your car doors, Otherwise it'll be gone in 60 seconds. its a 70 scj mach1 in sheeps clothing, the only thing better would be a 69. 69 is the pinnacle of the mustang. the 70's front end isnt as pleasing, they eliminated the cool looking quarter scoops, and it has clunky looking pot metal tail light housings. otherwise the 69 & 70s are idendenitcal cars aside from those differences.

@@forestlawrencegrading9154 Cruis-O-Matic is a generic term Ford used for many of its automatics, including the C6. The FMX and the C6 are very different boxes. No FMX's were ever used behind 428's, which is the point of my comment.

I think the cruise had a bellhousing that could be removed whereas the c6 didn't. The c6 has 17 bolts to pan and the cruise o has 15. OK, i found my #'s book, so for 1968 if your car has a c6, the casting # has PGA- or PGB- , and the cruise o has PFA-A or PFA-B OR B1 or PGA-A2. The only engines to have the cruise o matic were the 240 PI, 302 PI, or the 390 column shift. Hopes this helps. Reply J jakengle · Registered Joined Aug 4, 2003 · 339 Posts #3 • Mar 17, 2006 Right: big block + removable bellhousing = FX/MX/FMX family of transmissions which are commonly called cruisomatics. Small block + removable bellhousing = C4. Any engine + One piece trans body = C6. This link may help. www.autotran.us/fmABpg21.htm
