I was a bit out of it during this reaction but I wanted ti listen to this song with you guys. I believe this was a huge pivot in Eminem’s career. When I firer heard this I started to realize something was truly wrong. I’m glad we still have Eminem today 👊

From a position of a 14 year old girl who’s father abandoned her this song hits hard. I’m 42 now. . My mother also was severely depressed and suicidal so I feel every word. Becoming an adult as a child trying to please them. ❤️🇮🇪

@AndreaCollins Your not alone! Both my parents left me when I was 10, no explanation I’m just at my great grandparents house for over 2 years with no knowledge why. Just know you are stronger & have wisdom that can help others, some ppl don’t break the cycle because you have no idea what this life thing is until one day your 35 & realize what most ppl learn in jr high school. All we can do is let that pain go, & live in the moment sometimes I just have to be grateful for this specific moment in time, I’m not hungry, I just stop & breath in the feeling of gratitude. We all I believe are really supposed to be here for each other, but everywhere we turn everything & everyone want us distracted & separated. Much love to you please know you aren’t alone. 🙏♥️

This song is definitely the transition from Shady to Eminem. If you notice, when he’s looking at himself in the mirror, Eminem has brown hair, and he punches the mirror with Shady having blonde hair. An absolute masterpiece of a song. So many alter egos that appeal to almost everyone!! Em is the GOAT for a reason!! 🐐 🔥 🐐 🔥 🐐 🔥 🐐 🔥

Bro you got me cuttin' onions over here.. thinking about back when I had this on repeat, right before "going out of town for a month"... the pain i caused to my family, my self destructive habits, my 4 month old son at the time.. so much.. but it was the the best thing I did, surrendering.. admitting "I can't do this on my own." Haven't heard this in a minute. Thanks bro.. I appreciate you.

Damn. I have heard this once before, and it's one of those that I can't really listen to more than once without breaking. Linkin Park is probably most of them, unfortunately. They were one of my go to groups in my late teens and 20s. Can't even really think of some of the lyrics without losing it. Damn Chester, still miss you. Requiescat in Pace.

I’ve always thought of this song as Marshall trying to kill Shady, but doesn’t realize it didn’t work. Then, in The Monster seeing him after going through rehab he realized he can’t kill Slim so he keeps him locked in order to stay sober and be a great father. Think that’s why he’s so more controlled. It takes a lot of will power to live the life he’s led and get to a good place. ❤🔥❤️

Nice video Cliff! I still choke back tears to this day EVERY TIME I hear this song. In these songs I think the true Stan’s~ fans of Marshall Mathers can tell which songs carry pain & no matter how many takes ………. This pain isn’t able to be masked! We can hear that pain in his voice, we don’t have to know what he’s saying we know by the sound, just like the songs when he’s being funny & having fun. Thank you, I hope you have the Best day ever! ✌️

Loved this style, not too much breakdown but a lot more emotion, this song still wets my eyes sometimes. And I totally agree with your ending "rant", the GOATS "2pac, Nas, Biggie, Em" are GOATS for a reason, you could feel their emotions in their songs, they have real meaning, music that trascends age and culture. Nowadays the "GOATS" are good sounding music with 90% of the focus on the bass, and the lyrics could be a dude high off his mind screaming about his gang and how sexually active he is.

it's just different, every lyrical, every song is just amazing. I'm 41 and just enjoying every part of Eminem's songs and this is another one of them special songs. So much pain in this song, so much honesty, so much emotion, I love it. Respect as always from over here in Ireland!! great reaction as always Cliff beats, emotional and honest reaction. fantastic Cliff beats. And Cliff I do still think Eminem is underrated. I think his music is just ahead of everyone else. I do love it and music to be murdered by side A and B have become as important to me and are now my favorites. They are so technical it takes years for most people to understand. But I love his music, my therapy. take care world

I feel like I've never seen someone who appreciates Eminem and gives so much attention to his songs, lyrics and double entendres the way you do. I feel like you completely respect him and his background. I love when you stop the videos to point out a rhyme or explain something because the rhymes are genius and they need to be stopped so they can be admired. I've gone down the fkin rabbit hole with your videos and have been watching them nonstop.

Eminem has helped me through finding my brother dead at 15, an extremely physically, sexually, mentally abusive relationship which lasted over 4 years, through 10 years of addiction one suicide attempt 3 weeks in the hospital, recover and most recently unexpectedly losing my 59 year old mother at only 28 years old, dealing with a sociopathic sister and my grieving father and family, his music has kept me strong and keeps me going still to this day, the day he dies I fear a part of me will die with him. His music was the only thing that made me feel that I wasn’t alone so many nights I’d literally “ Or for anyone who's ever been through shit in they lives So they sit and they cry at night, wishin' they'd die 'Til they throw on a rap record and they sit and they vibe We're nothin' to you, but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes” (em)… that verse makes me cry every time because before my recovery I didn’t know how to properly deal with all the pain but em helped me through the anger, the pain, showed me the road to reccovery forgiveness and acceptance

Eminem in the beginning....he was so oblivious of his fame that he purchased a house in regular neighborhood. They didnt get to live there long! People were knocking on their door, honking their horn as they drove by & it got so bad they called the police! They left in the middle of the night and he purchased the K-mart estate. The former CEO of K-marts estate. Thats where they stayed till the girls got older. It was remote and the grounds are extensive. They even changed the girls names so they could go to school....& not get singled out. He did everything he could to protect them but they didnt really socialize with anyone outside of their family. Pretty much living like hermits....to preserve what privacy they could.

This song marks the end of an era…the end of an era in which Eminem prioritized his music and fame over his family and his own personal health/well being. He’s in a far better spot now because he’s found a happy medium, one in which he can still make great music whilst not neglecting his relationships with his children. That’s why this song has SO MUCH weight. Not just because Eminem’s music has never been the same…but because he himself is no longer the same. When I’m Gone is a great example as to why I can’t put Eminem’s discography in any particular order…he’s taken us on this amazing ride with his music. Every album is meaningful in its own right. This is the end of Marshall’s reckless stardom but his talent hasn’t gone anywhere. 12 years post this songs release…Eminem is still at the top, which makes for a happy fan 😊

With the benefit of hindsight, the set up for the video is ingenious. He's at an AA meeting. Nowadays, we all know about his troubles with pill addiction, but, in this context, it goes deeper than that. What else has commonly been compared to drugs, in rap? What are they often used as a metaphor for? Nothing else but Rap itself. And not just Rap, but the fame that comes with it. Eminem has often basically outright said he's addicted to rapping. The fame at this point doesn't mean as much to him. He's dealt with -and is still dealing with- his pill addiction. But Rap? He still can't stay away. He still can't bring himself to stop. Maybe he never will. At the very least, it seems like he's managed it well enough to keep himself together, so that it doesn't get in the way as much.

For me, this has always been "One of them ones"; instantly iconic. This one gives me chills every time. Eminem takes the mask off of fame, and in doing so, bodies his original self from the top bunk. Slim Shady died, but had his Revival as a new Methodical Man. My only hope for him, is that he finds Christ and lets go of selling his soul and gives it to GOD. Otherwise, nothing else will have even mattered. I mean that in the most caring and respectful way of a brilliant man who forever changed the scape of Hip-Hop.

Shady made him but Shady also almost killed him he brought this song all the way back around this is one of my favorite songs and like I said I think he was getting sober when he wrote this but I do believe at the time he was done with the game the whole music all that stuff because he was realizing that it took him away from his own family and I think he came back because no matter what he never lost Haley but Kim was already gone and no matter what anybody says Eminem still loves her but he knows they're just not good together there's a song I wanted you to react to I don't know if you already did I forget the name of it it's I can breathe now something like that he's talking about it's him and style of Gray I assume it could be another girl singer I don't know but it's when he says he's standing on top of the building and it's lighting up on fire I forget the song but I love it so much I can't think of the name of the song but I wish you would react to it if anybody knows what I'm talking about please put that name somewhere in here there's a lot of Stan us out there

3:04 he says he's Marshall, I don't see where the Slim Shady is in this beginning. The pain you hear would be replacing SlimShady in, not glossing-over things, and not deflecting, but beginning accepting and the perception of being inept-in attention and focus gets redirected, and in the song he pleads to be accepted instead of excepted. But if he's gone like You said, then we should not expect him.-Ernie Moore Jr.
