@@leesa8697 you aren’t charged security deposits monthly. She was paying $650 every other time. You pay security at the start and it’s usually a month’s rent. So she should’ve paid $1300 if she paid both rent and her security the first month. She also has no proof of paying $150 cash anyway. So regardless of what it was supposed to be (the rest of her rent…) it doesn’t matter she can’t prove it.

She was ripping her off… $650 for a room When people rented a room from me the most anyone paid was $250 and that was only because he used a lot of things he didn’t buy and showered until the hot water was cold and he kept the heat in the apartment really high It was costing me that much and sometimes more just having him there

Im not on anyones side yet but shes not trying to trick anyone with that shes stating she paid rent and the deposit just rent was with check and deposit was cash... @@dawnroache9391 she explains the bumped her rent to 650 after her boyfriend moved in and before it was 500. So 500 in a check and 150 deposit. After that her rent became 650. I wouldnt have paid cash just because you have record of what the money is for with a check but still it was explained by her that rent was bumped up 150 after her bf moved in. So 650 after and before it was 500 and the a 150 deposit

In British Columbia Canada landlords/sub-letting renters get away with this repeatedly. I paid monthly for a room from a realtor that was renting out a bedroom and due to the fact that I didn't want to snuggle with her after she came home drunk one evening ( sexual harassment )she told me that the landlord had asked her to ask me to leave. She kept all of my belongings, clothes, cell phones and refused to refund me for the month minus 6 days that I had stayed into the month. I called the police to set up a time to collect my belongings and conveniently she was NEVER around to answer the call/meet. Then she had the audacity to send me a text stating that I took advantage of her. My rental experience prior to this wasn't great either. I rented a duplex from BC Housing where my home was routinely accessed and items were missing. Bras, panties, random high heeled shoes, towels. The locks had been changed 3 times, never any forced entry or access through a window. The final straw was that I came home after being out all day and all of the bedding on my bed was gone and someone had taken a bath/shower as the tub and floor were wet. I left for a safe house and didn't disclose to any neighbors where I was going. In a neighborhood where neighbors are continuously watching the comings/goings of people on the block I find it highly suspect that no one ever saw a person beside myself entering my home. The manager had the gall to say that the home was safe and that I could return to it anytime I wanted. When I did return to the home to gather some clothes (I would NEVER stay in that house ever again) a polite neighbor called the police, the policeman told me that if I ever set foot on the property again without written permission from BC Housing that they would charge me with break and enter. I sent an email to the manager requesting the documentation that was required by the police. He outright refused to provide such documentation. Again stating that the property was safe and that I could return to it anytime I wanted to. Who in their right mind is going to stay in a home with children knowing an unknown person is going into it? I told him that I would NEVER stay in that house by myself or with my children. Besides the thousands of dollars of furniture, collectibles that they kept. They kept my priceless memories of videos, pictures and handmade scrapbooks of my children all of which are totally irreplaceable. BC Housing has yet to compensate me for any of this nor have they apologised for their negligence in contributing to the theft by their unwillingness to investigate the situation.

Well if I have to leave my house and not to return, I will be sleeping on the street. What choice would I have if I was in this situation. I had heard about this, hate to say this but proof is needed. It's not safe peri. You wo assume that your home would be. But where I live nope

what she doesn't seem to understand is that many rentals are both last month AND security deposits. Security deposits can be as much as 2 months rent in my state. It's sometimes cheaper to buy a house than to rent.
