I'd be so embarrassed to say "she confided in me about her struggle with alcohol" while I share it on national tv. Says more about her than the defendant. People think that addicts are the villains when in reality it's gossipers and unsympathetic like the plaintiff.
@BoopSnoot

Its not gossip if its true. She was an abusive alcoholic slob, and her roommates are understandably upset and don't want to live with someone that won't carry their own weight. I hate that America has been so enamored with victimhood that we side with the loser.

This is so funny because I had an experience almost exactly like this. A friend of mine actually was going crazy and calling off work for weeks at a time to stay home and take Xanax. Her best friend asked me to be part of an intervention so I showed up and I started crying telling this girl how I loved her and didn’t want to lose her, and her best friend/roommate stands up and is like “yeah, and you need to quit leaving the place a mess and having guys over!” And that’s when I realized “intervention” to her meant a roommate meeting, but one that friends are allowed to chime in on.

@@Selfemployedmildautisticperfor They weren't doing a "kind" thing. They didn't like her or didn't get a long with her, so the three decided to push the fourth girl out. An intervention requires trained professionals and people who know what they are doing otherwise it can push an addict/alcoholic over the edge and cause them to over-use/drink and potentially commit su!cide. These three girls were bullying her to push her out. It's classic mean-girl behavior. The reality is that the "intervention" and substance abuse allegations we're only put into the complaint because they wanted to make her look bad/worse so they would possibly be more likely to win. The age-old "I'm a good helpful person, but SHE'S bad. She does drugs" in other words they want the Judge to believe that the defendant is horrible to live with and that they "just couldn't take it anymore".

I'm only halfway though, but I totally get being aggravated with a roommate who leaves a mess for you to clean up or does things that are inconsiderate like coming in at 2 or 3 am and not even trying to be quiet. And when you finally get fed up and say something in a rational, adult way, they take it personally and get defensive. I've experienced this and it sucked. But 3 girls ganging up on one 1 person obviously isn't the way to handle it. I'm sure both parties acted petty and childish.

It comes across as if they did mean to include intervention in the complaint and that her substance use was a main contributing factor, but because JJ immediately asked what kind of training they have to be staging something they call an intervention for alcoholism, they backpedaled and acted as if that was secondary and not meant to be in the complaint to save their own asses because they knew not only that they were in no position to do that but also that they had no leg to stand on because someone who drinks alcohol recreationally and takes their prescription Xanax like they’re supposed to isn’t inherently an addict.

I’m getting my masters currently to become a therapist. I will have clients in less than two months because of how much training I now have (4 semesters of schooling) and I will still be HIGHLY supervised. And yet still, I would NEVER do this to a roommate. You cannot do intensive “interventions” without being fully licensed and having years of experience. And you should never do this to family or friends. They betrayed her trust and that only hurt her more. What idiots. The best way to help someone is to ask how you can help them and if they are in direct danger, then call the police or a crisis line. If someone doesn’t want to change, nothing you do will help. Only hurt.

I call BS on these bullies....I mean roomates....when they start backpedaling on their story and say that it WAS NOT an intervention to stop their friend/roommate from excessive drinking and drug use....it was an intervention only in the context of reinforcing the cleanliness of the house. And I think the ONLY reason that these young ladies started changing their story from what it was in their answer was because Judge Judy very pointedly told them that they had no right to host an intervention for their friend's drug addiction, because they had not done the proper training or contacted someone who was experienced in leading an intervention, so it was PROBABLY a very bad idea for these three VERY YOUNG women to be trying an intervention on their friend. These are CLASSIC mean girls. It is none of their business if their friend chooses to drink alcohol. And if it REALLY WAS just about the cleanliness of the apartment....why waste Judge Judy's time on that? That is not a court-worthy offense. Neither is mocking you. You three are just trying to sugarcoat and gloss over YOU being a trio of cowardly bullies.

Old comment I know but that's not why they're in court. They're suing her for the rent money she didn't pay while they had a protective order against her and wasn't living with them.

Actually, I've seen this whole thing back in college. The "group think" was a perfect analogy, but in reality they formed up as a faction simply because they didn't like her. They probably had someone else lined up for the spot, but that never came out. Too bad it didn't. Since there was no qualified adult moderating their so called "intervention" bad things CAN happen. Someone is usually a slob or careless. Doesn't matter who you get, you eventually find out anyway. Living with people is always difficult. Since it appears they were off campus, the three snobbish girls thought who they were. Instantly, from the get go their case fell apart. They got what they deserved, nothing. The defendant laughed at the end. It was a frivolous case having been filed, the Plaintiffs themselves couldn't even follow it. I wish I could have sued my college back in the day. I probably would have won Big.

There was alcohol in the fridge? Exactly which one of these young ladies was old enough to drink??
@Kris_Aalst
@Kris_Aalst Жыл бұрын
Oh come on. Don't tell me most young people in the US haven't had any alcohol before they're 21. In Europe, the age limit is lower (18 or even 16) and still most young people have had alcohol before that age. Besides, the girl on the right says she's 20 so maybe she's only a few weeks or months shy of 21, so there's a huge chance she could purchase alcohol without anyone asking for an ID. Get with the times, Nafisa 🙂
