How is renting an apartment for 50 years crazy? My great aunt was a cafeteria lady for over 40 years. A single mom to one, handling things all on her own. She couldn't afford to purchase a home. When she died at 78 years old, she was still living in that house. We're not all made from money. And the way the economy is going, most of us won't be able to purchase a home.

How greedy on the plaintiff’s part! After 40+ years of being a great tenant, he’s basically paid most of that mortgage off for them. The human thing to do would have been to wish him good luck with this new family and let him leave in peace. To sue for $860, for 1 month after so many years, is embarrassing + the added ignorant comments on national tv shows about Jamaica shows the type of person he is!! I feel for the defendant. The plaintiff is so off, as well as racist. Most importantly, $190 usd in 1972 is worth $1,458.48 currently. So if the plaintiff is gonna be an utter ass to his tenant of 44 years, he should only have to pay the difference based off of the 190$ adjusted for inflation. Her ruling that its not required since the 190 was not put in a specific bank account completely disregards how drastically the dollar amount shifted in those 44 years.
