On this episode of a classic Wash and Talk, I dig into the future wash bay plans, and everything that is coming in the near future.
Also, I severely messed up the dilution ratio - I made a mistake which resulted in the numbers being off by a factor of 10, thus resulting in some pretty puny foam. I calculated 5 gallons to be 1,892 ml when it should have been 18,927 ml.

Hey Matt just a heads up on that PIR. It’s actually what you originally thought it was man. 5 gallons is 18,927ml. It’s 18,927x.04 which equals 757ml. Bro I went WAY down this rabbit hole trust me. Also you will be perfectly fine using a 2% PIR and not 4%. I use 2% on my Tundra on every wash and she comes out CLEAN CLEAN. That would be 378ml for Touch less at a 2% PIR. Imo the product is WAY to expensive when using that particular cannon.
@jseichhorn
@jseichhorn Жыл бұрын
Yeah I use 3% and it cleans super well (I only bust out Touchless when it’s really dirty). I’d also question after the actual measurement is taken whether he really made it to 5 gal.
@stephenleach4808
@stephenleach4808 Жыл бұрын
Why not just use a pump sprayer? Yes I know, it takes a bit more time. No need to figure out how much volume your cannon puts out. Get that 1L pump sprayer and add 20-50mL (2%-5%) of Touchless and you are done.
@dailyDIYdude
@dailyDIYdude Жыл бұрын
@@stephenleach4808 it’s actually super easy to figure out your output and it only has to be performed once. Unless you change a portion of your wash process equipment.
@stephenleach4808

@@dailyDIYdude Yeah that makes sense. It seems to me that this product doesnt really need a foam cannon for application though? I realize that in terms of time, the foam cannon route would be faster. For the user who only does his own washes on his own cars once in awhile, time isnt really that big a factor. You could save using a ton of product, and it would only take a marginal increase in time if you used a pump spray?
@dailyDIYdude
@dailyDIYdude Жыл бұрын
@@stephenleach4808 yeah honestly not sure man. I’ve never owned a foaming pump sprayer tbh. I guess the cannon is easy for me because that’s what I already own and been using for years. It’s pretty satisfying to use more then anything.

I think your right in your situation Matt. Only use it when the cars really dirty. When I use it here in Scotland is through winter when the car is caked in road salt. Weekly I snow foam the car using Auto-foam and rinse off, thats it, no contact wash at all. Stops me from messing up the uncoated paint and the car looks pretty dam clean after it.

Pete hamber emailed me back regarding if ph goes down if you use a lower pir and he said it does, exact amount would be hard to determine but im guessing it would be around 9.5 ph which is exactly what you want being used every week or a few times a month, no need for more product to get 13 ph.

I don't bother foaming when the car only has light dirt, I don't really see the point, jet washing here will remove most of the light dust. When the car is really dirty the foaming seems to help get as much dirt off as possible before touching the car, this approach seems to be more popular in the UK. I think streamlining the wash process is important and not to waste product when it isn't really doing anything of benefit.

Sounds like your customer you spent time complaining about wanted updated more frequently. Completely understandable. If you let him sit on his order for weeks at a time with no updates or communication just because you had "nothing to tell him" that's not cool. Probably what he meant, because every time you translated what he was saying it sounded like he wanted better communication. There's nothing worse as a customer when you order something, then you don't get the product and you don't get an explanation and weeks go by. Then you call and they company says "should ship in a couple weeks but we are out of stock currently". Then a month goes by and crickets. The company should communicate on any standing orders frequently. If you don't want to deal with that part of customer service, don't take orders on out of stock items

Is a 1.1 orifice better
@ObsessedGarage
@ObsessedGarage Жыл бұрын
The orifice size is dependent on your pressure washer's output. A 1.1 is for crappy, low flow pressure washers.

Why the science project? Why don’t they use standard dilutions?
@wd8005
@wd8005 Жыл бұрын
Not every pressure washer is the same so even if Bilt Hamber use the standard dilution everyone would get different results. Remember the Pressure Washer is diluting it more with water so whatever solution is on the foam lance will get diluted further.

Are you supposed to dilute brake buster?
@dfbsgarage
@dfbsgarage Жыл бұрын
It wasn't designed to be diluted, although it can be if you want. Most people who complain about Brake Buster lacking ultimate cleaning ability are the ones who are also diluting it. From my point of view, you may as well just use soap if you are going dilute Brake Buster.

@@JustinHerbertTD 10:1 is the most common dilution, at that strength it really struggles to clean tires. I stick to undiluted and have never had to question it's cleaning ability, for both wheels and tires. I even use it to clean my lawn mower!

If he was using it as a washbay only, then maybe. But since he'll use it as additional parking spaces, the dimensions make sense.
