Beautiful!!! I don't consider heat trained hair damaged. The curl pattern is altered just like it would if you have a relaxer without the chemicals. If it's not stiff, brittle, breaking off then it's healthy. Heat training can be a healthy alternative to have straighter hair than a relaxer full of chemicals.

I've been trying to tell people this. A lot of curly naturals have severely damaged hair but can't tell until they get a silk press and the stylist chops 5 inches of dead ends. They need to stop calling heat trained damaged hair if the hair is actually healthy.

The longer the hair is the looser the curl pattern because of the weight of the hair.

Your hair is pretty and healthy. Mine looks similar to yours, but not as thick. Last relaxer was over 15 years ago. It will pretty much stay straight after applying heat until I wet it. Keeping it straight is the way my hair is easy to comb and do whatever with, therefore less breakage. I love it. ❣

I'm a heat trained color treated natural for 3 years now and my hair gets noticeably longer each time I straighten it (once a month.) You can have both, consistency with your hair maintenance is key. My hair is actually the healthiest it's ever been since I've been natural. I'm a few inches from waistline but most importantly my hair is thick, healthy, and strong, with very minimal shedding. The only flaw I have with my hair is flakiness in the scalp between washes. Oh and to clarify, I've been heat training for 3 years and color treated for 6 months.

@@Monicaizpeace thanks for the info...what is your maintenance routine if you don’t mind sharing...I washed and flat ironed 2 weeks ago and used the Aphogee protein treatment and Mielle Organics deep conditioner and a bonding oil like the Olaplex and it turned out beautiful...my hair is still growing and thicker than before but more shedding than I would like at times...I guess I’ll keep the routine since it’s been working...flat iron once a month keep it moisturized and take occasional breaks from heat
