Girlll, this wash day really helped me. Putting a rubber band at the roots while washing, keeps my hair less tangled. I went from a 4 hour wash day to a 2 hour wash Dayy. That's a great improvement!!!

The clay+vinegar+water is actually my shampoo & final step after deep conditioning overnight. It clarifies and adsorbs the excess conditioner while closing the cuticle. Just rinse it really well in cool water & you're ready for leave-in conditioner
@KayBeOnline3 жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I love using clay shampoo. So you basically do shampoo and conditioner in reverse. Is there a difference that you've seen in your hair, or is it mostly just convenient?

@@KayBeOnline I learned this from the Maximum Hydration Method a few years ago. Though some parts of MHM were too harsh on my hair (mainly the baking soda step and the frequency of wash days), I quit MHM but held on to steps that really worked out for me The reason I do this step last is 1) because it really removes all excess products, 2) it clumps and defines my hair (and I have the tightest coils known to man) and 3) its pH closes the cuticle, sealing in moisture from my deep condition, leaving my hair strong and pliable for styling without a ton of products. *apply thoroughly, cap & leave for 15 min to 1 hour for best results. Rinse extremely well with cool water in the shower. It's not necessary every wash day either Afterwards if I'm wearing a wash-n-go I can add a diluted leave-in followed by a gel. For a fro or twistout, I do the leave-in followed by a butter. For a blowout I do the leave-in followed by a silicone heat protectant. Simple and reduces out the door time for me And my coils are so tight, people are shocked that I can wash-n-go. I truly believe anyone can with the right method
@KayBeOnline3 жыл бұрын
@@shannonmorris8384 oh that's awesome information! I've heard of the MHM, even seen a few videos and while the results look beautiful, that looks like wayyyyy to much work to change the hair. My hair can curl nicely but the shear volume/density of it makes the MHM a no-go for me. It would probably take me forever. Thanks for the explanation... I might have to try that out!
@KayBeOnline3 жыл бұрын
@@shannonmorris8384 one more question. When you do the deep conditioning overnight, do you apply on wet or damp hair?
@shannonmorris83843 жыл бұрын
@@KayBeOnline I do a lot of co-washing but you can clean your hair with shampoo or however you like. But for me, I will rinse out any products from the week in the shower, cowash, rinse, then apply deep conditioner right there in the shower while it's still wet & nicely detangled. I usually twist or plait 4-6 sections and apply shower cap to sleep in. The following morning is when I do the clay step

Do your roots ever tangle while you're shampooing? Because mine tangle like crazy and idk what I'm doing wrong 😩
@jazzzzz97403 жыл бұрын
Try holding your ends while shampooing. This will help your hair be elongated so it’s less likely to tangle throughout the hair shaft since it will be stretched out and there’s more pressure applies at the ends.
@JazzyB94813 жыл бұрын
@@jazzzzz9740 thank you! Do you braid or twist your hair when you wash it too?
@KayBeOnline3 жыл бұрын
@@JazzyB9481 she's exactly right. Between you keeping it elongated/taut with your hands and the weight of the water, it's less likely to tangle back on itself. Do the same thing as you go through each section (per your last question...I, personally, wash my hair in 6 equal, twisted sections), which makes finger/comb/brush detangling easier too. By the end you'll be mostly if not all the way tangle free and can apply post-wash products much easier. After you apply those post wash products, your hair will shrink back once dry, but you might find that the style will look a little more elongated and manageable/less tangly.
@JazzyB94813 жыл бұрын
@@KayBeOnline thank you for the detailed explanation! I wash my hair in twists but I'm lazy when it comes to stretching while washing. I have been natural most of my life but I still feel like I haven't mastered wash day yet and everyone else makes it look so easy 😆 I think maybe I scrub too hard or my sections are too big so maybe I'll try being more gentle too 🙂
@KayBeOnline3 жыл бұрын
@@JazzyB9481 sis, we all tryna figure this thing out lol! I've been natural for about 9 years but mostly a straight hair natural As of late, I've been embracing the curls tho. It's really personal preference but trying tips from others with similar textures or porosities is sooo helpful. I used to be scared of what my hair might do so I would wash it in like 8+ sections. I didn't even think to stretch it. But I found that if you take your time to separate it and keep it elongated you don't have to use that many sections or fight with the tangles that come with it shrinking back. The 6 sections I use is technically still a lot, but I have a lot of hair and it's really long. I got that part figured out.. I'm still figuring out how to speed up the wash day a bit more though 😩
