My washer was filling so slowly that it would partially fill, then drain - never actually running the wash cycle. I had to fill the tub with a hose from the garage to do laundry. We purchased a new valve from Amazon - it would not work - so did the vinegar trick on the old one. By standing the unit up in an ice cream pail, we were able to pour vinegar directly into the valves and used the strong magnet tip to move the pistons back and forth. We continued to refill the valves with vinegar until the pistons moved freely. Ended up using less than 1/4 cup of vinegar and maybe 10-15 minutes. The washer is working better than it ever has since purchasing the house two years ago! Thank you Josh for posting your solution - the defective Amazon part will be returned so this fix ended up costing only a few cents for the vinegar!! Woo hoo!!!

I took it a step further. Instead of taking it all apart I took water lines off, drained the water and filled with CLR. Re hooked em up turned on for a second then turned off so CLR would set in there. Repeated a couple times and voila.

Hi, how long exactly did you turn on the water after filling the hoses with CLR? Was it literally like 1 sec? I want to avoid turning it on for too long that the CLR surpasses the water valve. Thank you in advance, this is tremendously helpful!

Tip you can do kind of the same thing on a coffee pot. Use a 50% mix. Half white vinegar and half tap water running through the coffee maker like 4 time.

I have this same model you did the video on. I will definatly try this. It is a pain when you don't remove the cloths as soon as the load finishes and when you go back later everything is saturated with water from the drip and then you have to respin it out.

Nice! yea our well was kicking a lot of sand through our system so new well. But now we have the same problem. Washer is dripping pretty steadily. Also tonight for some reason the rinse cycle came on by itself! May call our guy, I think more going on than the valve.

@joshcobb4100

Just be careful and wiggle them off, look for plastic tabs holding them in place. They slide off easily when broken loose or tab released.

My brand new machine is dripping so there can't be calcification. But this is good to know.
@joshcobb4100
@joshcobb4100 2 жыл бұрын
It is possible there was some debris in the water lines if you didn’t flush them before you hooked your washer up. So it may not be calcification but it could be debris nonetheless. This trick should fix it either way. Good luck!

i have a whirlpool washer that was stopped up with sand and gravel from decades of community well water wells going down and coming back online after repair. I couldnt get the screens out of the inlets without destroying them. I blame it on the build up but.. u know. So i left the screens off and after i put the hoses back on and ran a test load, I have that leak you had. In the morn im gonna try descaling that plunger like you did. I dont wanna spend 50 bucks on this. Hell im not gonna be too happy if i gotta go get vinager
@joshcobb4100
@joshcobb4100 10 ай бұрын
Honestly, in your situation with the well water, you’re probably gonna have to replace the inlet which would come with new screens. For future reference, those screens can be bought in multiples on Amazon for pretty cheap. I don’t even try to take them out without destroying them lol.
