40 yrs ago when we were newlyweds and poor college students, I used the bathtub and a clean toilet plunger. I would get blisters wringing out the socks and sheets. I sure appreciate that I don't have to do that anymore. This would have been awesome and the wringer would have saved my hands.

Sometimes when I'm too lazy to go to the laundromat I wash a small load in the bathtub and I hardly squeeze the water out and just hang them over the bathtub and leave a heater on.

I bought a cheap washing board and did my laundry in the tub when I was a poor college student. Decades later I retired the washing board to serving as back porch decoration, and Hurricane Katrina smashed it. I thanked it for its service as I placed it in the burn pile with the remnants of all the fallen trees. Which was super ironic because we didn't have electricity for a month after Katrina and I was washing clothes in the nearby creek and actually needed that washing board for the first time in 20 years lol

I'm 62 and hands hurt from years of washing clothes crafts knitting crocheting etc. All learned by grandma. Oldest of 7 girls and 2 boys. Had to do everything at early age. To say all this I can not afford that beautiful peace of equipment your working with. Enjoy

I go to Lehmans and other Amish country places in Ohio since they are only a two hour drive. Lovely anytime of the year. While that is nice it is very expensive so save up your money. That wringer not for me as my laundry I handwash plunger style in the tub. The wash machine does look like it will do a more predictable agitating washing job. Wonder if it would fit in my tub? Then a seven inch high plastic produce crate which fits across my tub and nicely under the faucet to rinse. I can put other laundry underneath that as either a presoak or light wash. My ninja spinner a pain when it occasionally unbalances but par for the course for that type of machine but would further dry, extracting more water out than it appears with these old fashioned wringers.

That’s personal preference and obviously depends on how soiled the clothes are, but a few minutes of agitating, draining the dirty water, agitating again with clean water to “rinse” and then wringing everything out. Maybe 15-20 mins total?

How much money do you save washing and drying you clothes this way? I started hang drying a few loads of laundry a day (big family) and save $75 a month on my electricity bill.
@BlueyesBelow3 жыл бұрын
It was never really about saving money for me as there is only two of us in my household, but more about having an alternate means if needed. It is a fun way to do laundry on a nice day! 😊 You’ll still need to run the water pump (electricity) to fill this, but you would save some electricity on the agitation process. Your time spent manually doing laundry *may* not be well spent, depending on how busy you are. Good luck!
