Washington DC's giant panda trio return to China after 23-year stay in US, adapting to new life

Giant pandas Mei Xiang, Tian Tian and their male cub, Xiao Qi Ji, arrived at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Thursday night, after wrapping up their stay in the United States.
The FedEx Express Boeing 777 Freighter with a massive giant panda picture painted outside the cockpit landed at the airport at 11:12 p.m. Thursday, greeted by giant panda keepers from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
After an on-site inspection by customs staff at the airport, the pandas were heading to the quarantine facility at the Shenshuping giant panda base in Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan, about 130 km away from Chengdu.
According to the keepers, the giant pandas are in good condition after a long flight.

I know they said they will be in a place for observation then they will go to a sanctuary, but before that happens for how long they will be separated or under observation?

@@vilmasandoval1356 They are put in quarantine for a month. And they will always remain separated, just as they were at the National Zoo. There are several reasons for this, but you can find them easily at the NZ website as well as video of the bears when they arrived and when they were put in large pens filled regularly with fresh water and, course, forests of bamboo. There is a part in the video that shows Tian, sitting down, his back resting against the wall, chomping, peeling and munching on his bamboo just as he did at the NZ.

It's not really a "welcome home" as the U.S. has been their home. Mei Xiang and Tian Tian were youngsters when they arrived here, and Xiao Qi Ji was born here. It's the only "home" they've known. It's good to know they will be well cared for in China, though we will miss them always. Hopefully, they will be as loved in their new home as they were here. ❤🐼🐼🐼❤
