Stan's blind tastings are always fun to watch. Interesting to note that the higher priced wines scored better on taste, which is not always the case.

I really do like it when the less expensive wines come out on top. Blind tastings keep it fair in that regard. Thanks for the comment Kris.

I'll start by saying that I have rarely enjoyed a French or Italian wine outside of the country of origin. Exception is French wine in Germany. For some reason, it is good there. Second note, I have been to some small wineries in California and Washington run by old style Europeans. Those wines were very good, but needed to age. One winery did not even sell their wines until they had been bottled eight years. I kept that one another eight and it was excellent. The results do not surprise me that much. I've had other high end Washington wines they were selling that at the time of purchase, they said should age another five years. Good advice, and it was very good after that time. I'm not surprised by the poor showing of the French wine. I just don't think they export their best. Same with the Italians. If you want good wines from those countries, you just have to get on an airplane. Or pay more than I am willing :)

Did you Decant the Bordeaux? 2016 still a baby and would probably need a good 2 hours for it to open up! 2016 vintage can age forever. California blends are a different story, “manufactured” literally to be drunk young. I personally love Bordeaux as you can definitely enjoy the wine at different stages as it changes and gets better in the glass!!
