But at that point I make them think I'm buying several items by making them go get items from the storage room in the back of the store. Then once they've made several trips back and forth and, I've made them look like a clown, I walk out while leaving everything on the floor.

No one knows who we are when they racially profile us. I was racially profiled in Dallas at a Target by the store manager and security. I just wanted to do a simple return. This led to an ugly incident. In Dallas, you never know who is who or who has access. I had access. I'll put it like this. I bumped into Marc Cuban at Best Buys a few years ago. I am in particular circles. I used my access to get in touch with the man over all targets in Dallas. I made it clear I did not want anything of value. I suggested racial sensitivity classes. Not they both were fired. Although I was in the city of Dallas an a black and Latino area. I live in the deep suburbs of Dallas around very important people. I am not the guy to run each time and say, "Do you know who I am or who I know. This time, it was so bad I had to report it. Although I didn't want anything of value, they insisted and gave me a $500 gift card. I didn't need it. I went back to the same store and found a family I felt who would have appreciated it. I gave it to them and didn't say how much and walked away.
@afrocraft16 ай бұрын
I don't think this is how best to deal with this. When White people feel aggrieved, especially at the hands of other races, they press for justice and redress. Black people pretend like we're above it all. Look at reactions to unwarranted killings, for instance: When Dylan Roof slaughtered 9 innocent black souls in Charleston, SC, their families forgave him; when a Somali-born cop unintentionally fatally shot a white woman in Minneapolis while attending to a 911 call, they screamed for his head and convicted him.

I bring this up to say black men can often be viewed negatively in society as a whole to include our own people (I think Chris Rock made a joke about this). I have a Master’s Degree in music and teach public school. I am 6’3”, 240, a dark skinned black man, and until recently I had locs. When my son was 11 years old, he was gaining out with his friends ( every race in this group of friends aka colors of Benetton!) Young men in the age group start to go out on their own. They went to a little mall in our neighborhood. They were followed the entire time by security. My son after that experience hated going shopping on his own! Imagine he was that self-aware of being judged for just being at such a young age! My heart ached for him! Because I remember being his age and loved to hang out with friends and shop! That step of independence as a pre-teen. Yes, I am a black woman over 50+. That experience robbed my son of that milestone!
