People who keep whining over the name need to get a grip. I don't necessarily like the name "Commanders", but some fans are acting like Redskins defines the team. It doesn't. Winning does and they did a lot of it this year-and hopefully more of it over the next decade.

I have come to be fine with the name commanders for a couple of reasons, now i had to do some mental gymnastics to feel this way. 1 when i joined the navy the very first people that train or future war fighters are called RDCs or recruit division COMMANDERS, next i served under many different commanders in the navy, third The very way we write the name commanders with the line underneath and above the name is 100 percent the way it is done by our military and the font we use for the word commanders is 100 percent military font. I want it to go back to redskins but i know it never will. I now look at the name as a clear clear honor of our military. lets not forget the most powerful person in the world is our commander and chief or president. I hope this helps any of my redskins brothers going forward and we can all just at least understand the name commanders is a respectable name. HAIL

It's not like opposing team's fans haven't made fun of the Redskins name, either. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people call them Deadskins in the past before the name change. No matter the name, people will find ways to poke fun to easily get under the skin of fans like you so sensitive over a name.
