This was the greatest test match I witnessed. Many regard this test to be the best of all-time. The Chennai test had all the makings of a great test. From Afridi's devastating century to Sachin's fighting ton. From Akrams swing to Saqlain spin. From Dravid's defend to Waqar's yorkers. Everything. Sachin took it to the last breath but Akram had the last bit of the oxygen. Again the best test match you could imagine. A war as it started, a thriller as it ended. Simply amazing. PAK-IND

I remember watching this Match on tele live and I am an India . I remember this ball exactly and was awestruck by this man. Wasim akram is the best bowler I have ever seen for the last 16 years. It's not difficult to swing the ball but to control it the way he does is genius.

He is a great bowler. What a reverse swing !! Pakistan has produced greatest pace bowlers. But Akram is the greatest of all. Akram, Waqar, Allan Donald, Curtley Ambrose, Walsh, Mcgrath, McDermot were contemporaries and they are all great.

Man, thats what I miss in cricket these days. It used to be such a form of art, you couldn't help but be inspired. I miss bowling duos like The 2Ws, Walsh-Ambrose, Donald-DeVilliers and other that I can't think of right now. They just made this game so refreshing. Spinners are very good, but when pacers do these kinda stuff, thats truely magic.

Others may have better stat but his art was matchless. Once Robin Jackman was commentating. Akram bowled 3 or 4 different balls and got gary Kirsten out on last ball. Jackman said ‘ don’t say he is a great bowler. He is far more than that. He is an artist’. And in 1997 Carlton and united final Bill Larry exclaimed ‘ he is at you all the time. He can bowl 6 different deliveries in an over. This is an artist at the peak of his power. Certainly the best fast bowler in the world today’... these 2 summed it up perfectly.

Yes .. I was surprised at the crowd's standing ovation as well ... Chennai crowd is so unlike the usual Indian Crowd .. Take Calcutta test for instance the same yr ... It was hushed into silence by Shoaib Akhtar's fire n when India was losing on the final day ... they started throwing bottles n god knows what ... The ground had to b evacuated then .. but Chennai crowd had a lot more spirit ...

wasim is my cricketing hero, and i'm english!. swing the ball both ways. devastating with the new and old ball, and either side of the wicket. it was a pleasure and an honour to watch him play for the great lancashire one day team of the 90's. the number of times he'd come in lower down the order with warren hegg, to save or win the game was inspiring.

The set-up is as exceptional as the delivery itself! This is a magician at work. If a technician par excellence like Dravid couldn't keep it out, I am convinced no other batsman could have. To any right-hander that would have been the kiss of death! I'd say Dravid should be proud that he got bowled by that and knowing the man, I am sure he holds the delivery and the great 'deliverer' in utmost regard!

i was there at the ground that day right behind wasim akram as he bowled this over. after the first two balls, the tension mounted, and i prayed that dravid would last the over.the next ball, dravid got out but we had no clue how. then on tv screens in front of us we saw the replay. i think that sequence would have taken out any batsman. most amazingly, his action did'nt change a bit and each ball did something different. great bowling from a great bowler.

To make Dravid look clueless you have to be pretty special. Akram was defo one of the best quick bowlers I have ever seen ! And probably the one capable of the most 'magic' deliveries in a spell(no pun intended). Still, for me at least, the best I have ever seen was McGrath. But Wasim was great to watch, such a quick arm, amazing.

How can test cricket get any better than this? The 'magician' Wasim Akram bowling to the 'master-technician' Rahul Dravid and gets him twice in three balls (the lbw is pad-bat and plumb, come on). 4th innings in a series-deciding context between India and Pakistan.Two in-swingers and the third, simply an unplayable ball that snakes away really late. Ten years later, test cricket still stands honoured by players like these 2 gentlemen and moments like these!

I can remember India had needed only 25 runs with Tendulkar on the crease and 5 wickets left. And as always Tendulkar made his century and got out without taking india to victory.
