Wasserstein Blink 2 Solar Panel - amzn.to/3g2MCKk
In this clip I review the Wasserstein Blink 2 Solar Panel. It’s an easy way to power your Blink 2 Outdoor cameras from the sun. The product is easy to use, has an internal battery and does a great job of keeping your cameras running without changing batteries. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks again for watching!

Great video! I ordered the product, arrived today, will install tomorrow as per your instructions. You didn't mention it but for me (not sure where you're located) is the fact that I don't need to get up on a ladder in the middle of winter to change batteries. The yellow plastic pieces are anchors.

So once these solar panels are set up and connected am I supposed to keep those batteries in for a few days just so the camera can adjust to the solar panel and after that point can I take put the batteries or do I leave them in the camera
@GadgetHero1
@GadgetHero1 3 жыл бұрын
Jose, thanks for the post. The solar panel has an internal battery that it charges so you don't need any batteries in the camera when using this system. Other solar panels that don't have an internal cell just generate energy to charge the battery in the camera. Because this one has an internal battery, it basically takes the place of the battery normally required for the camera and can supply all the power you'll need to run the system. It will take a few hours of charging the first day to get started but then you'll be all set.

Question. Will this power a module or just a camera? I have an extra long distance from module to cameras. Maybe mount an independent module half-way?

BUT...can you LEAVE the batteries (Lithium) inside the camera in the event there's like no sun for a number of days, as a back up?
@Dronevalley
@Dronevalley 2 жыл бұрын
You should really take them out because Alkaline batteries are not rechargeable and can interfere with the power. There is a much larger Lipo battery in the solar panels that supplies power to the camera so it'll work fine for a few days even without sunshine.

@Frank Gallego Thanks for the response! I bought one and installed it over a month ago. No issues so far. I hope it lasts at least a year lol. Currently, Energizer Lithium AA batteries are $19.99 for 4. I usually have to replace my batteries 2-3 times a year, so hopefully I get my money's worth!

When you install your solar panel does this somehow enable continuous recording now? Instead of just motion recording?
@GadgetHero1
@GadgetHero1 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the post and unfortunately it doesn't enable continuous recording. It's a great way of powering the camera from the sun without batteries but the camera still operates the same. The other big advantage is that you never have ti climb a ladder again to swap out new batteries. Stay tuned for more clips posting this week. Rick

@@MrIkon83 They limit this to extend the battery life. Most battery powered cameras are exactly the same. They take a few minutes to "wake up" and only record for a minute or so. If you need quicker response or longer record times you'll have to jump to a wired camera.

Will this charge rechargeable batteries in the camera also?
@GadgetHero1
@GadgetHero1 Жыл бұрын
You won't need batteries in the cameras. The LiPo cells inside of the solar panel provide all of the power you'll need for the camera and are designed to be rechargeable. I hope that helps.
@InimitaPaul
@InimitaPaul Жыл бұрын
It will not recharge a set of rechargeable batteries placed in the camera, power delivery is to the internal camera circuit only. You can use rechargeable batteries in the camera as back up for the panel, with the panel attached, without an issue and remove and recharge them when you need to, probably after a few years if not much longer. The camera will always draw from what it thinks is a mains connection first until it stops providing electrons, then the batteries will kick in. Make sure the batterys’ chemical composition is lithium based though as they will withstand cold temperatures much better than other battery chemistry’s.

How long do the solar panels have to be out in the sun in order to use the camera fully, I just installed mine and I’m noticing the camera shutting off when I try to test out the microphone, and I’m wondering if it’s because the solar panels don’t have enough charge to use the microphone along with the recording

The first day you'll need most of the day in the sun to initially charge the batteries and then it should last you though a day or two of clouds. I've had mine installed for a few months and have never had an issue with it losing power once I got past the initial charging of the battery. I hope that helps! Rick

I am having the same problems, the solar panel was charging for 8 hours before I put it up I thought it was a great idea at first but it is not what they say it is!. I have a 5 camera Blink outdoor system I only installed it on one camera to test it. The solar-powered camera turns itself off at night, it has been cloudy here in Florida the past few days and the camera has been off line more than it is online, the camera won't connect, then I get move it closer to my Wifi, which is another Amazon product the EERO 6 this camera is the closest maybe 30 feet away. Keep in mind my house is 1010 square feet, my property is 60 x 100. As for a two-year life from the lithium-powered batteries, it is never going to happen, I got 12 days on my rear camera before I started having issues, with the stock settings, that's why I bought the solar panels I have 5 solar panels and only installed one. It looks like everything is going back to Amazon and I will get a real system instead of this Fisher-Price Chinese junk, this is my opinion based on my experience, I really wished it was as they say but I went by the Amazon reviews, so be careful I am into this for about $600 right now and not happy.

@@daviddee1709 David, you're describing two different issues that don't have anything to do with each other. I can assure you that the solar panel will have enough charge in it's internal battery to run the camera for several days of normal use. It needs to be in direct sunlight as much as possible to charge the internal battery. I have 4 of these installed at home and all of them work really well, even with a few cloudy days each week. As for the Wifi connection issues, that comes down to a few different settings in the system. The EERO system is a little more complicated than most to setup but remember that the cameras only connect to the Sync Module and that is the only device that connects to your network. If you're experiencing these type of connection issues, you may want to relocate the Sync Module midway between your Wifi connection and the cameras. That's the way I have mine setup and it works great. I currently have 11 Blink Outdoor cameras and 4 Blink Indoor camera on the same Sync Module with no issues. I hope these suggestions help and you get things sorted out. These are really the best wireless cameras available today for the money, and I've tested a ton of others.

@@Dronevalley thats what I thought originally but the solar panel is in direct sunlight on the top of my garden shed in the yard in fact it shields the camera from sunlight because they were reaching 115, the issues are the camera goes offline at night and when I try to view the camera during the day I get "live view failed" it is the only camera out of 5 that does this. The funny part it is the closest to my router. The rest still have the batteries and connect with no problem. Amazon is sending me a new set they will be here the end of the month. As far as the Eero system I have learned how to set it up and have been in touch with support on an almost daily basis and it is working well, any advice is appreciated

PRODUCT FLAW: The internal battery is not replaceable making this solar panel a disposable item because its lifespan is determined by the life of the internal battery. In other words, once the internal rechargeable battery dies, maybe a year or two, you'll have to throw away the panel and buy a new one or go back to changing the camera batteries every 6 months or so.
@Dronevalley
@Dronevalley 2 жыл бұрын
Frank, thanks for the post but the unit is using the latest in LiPo battery technology, which provides over 1500 recharge cycles on average. These are "full" recharge cycles and since the solar panels are only trickle-charging the a small portion of the capacity, this could equate to a decade or more of use from the unit. It all depends on how often the camera is activated and they type of recording you're doing. You're basically trading electrons with the battery by using it and then charging it. I think 10 years is a pretty good life for a consumer product like this, especially when you consider the savings you'll enjoy in not having to buy batteries.

Super confusing vid maybe next time lay off the caffeine before you record yourself 1) you need to FULLY charge not only the solar panel but also the Wyze cam itself BEFORE you connect it otherwise try won’t work You should have mentioned that in the first 20 seconds of your vid

Jace, thanks for the ridiculously confusing comment. You're incorrect in your assumptions and I did test that portion of the system. The batteries in the camera are optional when using the solar panel since it contains rechargeable batteries that power the camera directly. They hold enough power for a day or two of clouds and do a great job of keeping the camera awake. You also have the option of adding cells to the camera if you like for more backup power but it's not mandatory. Maybe take the "cranky" down a notch with your posts to someone trying to help others.
