For over 30 years, Waste Management - Sun Valley Hauling has kept the greater Los Angeles region clean, serving apartments and businesses six days a week. Their mighty fleet of front loaders range from 5-25 years of age, making this fleet the oldest in the Los Angeles market region. This yard, originally Waste Management of Los Angeles back in the burgundy days, was home to the Bradley Landfill until 2007 when it was shut down. Right now, there is a yard waste transfer facility on site, which is why several Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation trucks can be seen in several shots.
Now, let's talk about their fleet. As said, this fleet has some of WM's oldest garbage trucks in Southern California. The regular trucks consist of 1997-1998 Volvo WX-42 Wittke Starlight FLs (ex-WMX Technologies Inc.), 2008 Autocar WX McNeilus FLs, and 2010 Autocar WX Amrep and McNeilus FLs. Roll Offs are 2004 Mack MR Amrep Roll Offs, 2009 Autocar WX Amrep Roll Offs, and one WhiteGMC Road Commander Spartan Roll Off. Spare trucks are 2003-2004 Mack MR Leach/Wittke FLs. Now, the scrap line was filled with garbage trucks from all over. The two LABOS Amreps and the square body FL was pulled from the back of the yard and now sits in the scrap line. Originally, I was told in the early part of the tour that I had just missed those trucks, and that they were scrapped back in December. So glad that wasn't the case. There's a couple trucks from Blue Barrel Disposal, one from Chino (which was actually my old recycle truck way back in 2011), one from G.I. Industries, a couple that I'm not sure where they came from, and the rest is old Sun Valley equipment. I really enjoyed seeing all the old stuff. It's certainly been a while since I've seen a fleet without a "Think Green, Think Clean" garbage truck in it.
Starting at 6:09, you can see a majority of the fleet pull in. I highly recommend watching this part, as you can hear the roar of all the trucks (even the LNG ones).
A huge thank you to all the Sun Valley Hauling staff. Special thanks to Travis Williams for touring us, Lily Lee for hosting, and Yvonne Jones in the front desk for being so friendly and helpful. Thanks to Cheryl Lautman for helping set this up as well.
