Waste to Waves (W2W) - a surf focused "styrofoam" recycling program from your friends at Sustainable Surf, that seeks to turn your trash into more sustainable surf gear; all while helping to protect our coastlines from plastic pollution, and educating surfers about "bluer" ways to help out the oceans that we all depend on.
W2W is designed to make it easy for you drop off all your waste EPS foam (commonly known as "styrofoam" ) packaging materials at your local CA surf shop to get recycled, where it can then have a chance to become incorporated into a new recycled "eco-friendlier" EPS surfboard core. This core, which has kept about 4lbs of foam out of the landfill, and which now has a ~40 % reduction in its CO2 footprint, can be shaped into your next surfboard.
The Waste to Waves program - is made possible by all of our partners including REEF, Patagonia, Marko Foam, Surfrider Foundation, Waste Management and Avangard Innovative (who has loaned Sustainable Surf one our their great foam densifier machines). We also wish to give a special thanks to the Nell Newman Foundation for their critical support.

Also any thoughts with recycling broken PU Blanks? seems like there are plenty of those - maybe provide a drop off locations and people could get a tax deduction certificate when they drop off a broken board? The stores would be into it because it would get people in their shops, you guys could be free PU blanks to break down, and the end user could get a tax write off for donating a broken board back to you guys. Thoughts????

Any studies or info about the carbon footprint of the Waste to waves recycling process Vs the impact of keeping the foam out of landfills? This is a great idea, recycling all this foam, but I'm wondering about the actual environmental impact benefits? Seems like running all those machines to recycle the foam would generate some serious CO2 emissions? If there is a white paper or study available I would like to read it - thanks boys, great work. Keep it up.

Bob Davis why just donated n don’t expect tax return on it ? You still help without expecting money is more rewarding don’t you think? , just food for thought 💭👍🏼😌
What is a ''restoration'' and why does your EPS board suck?
