An espalier on those bare walls would be stunning

Hi. Your plants are so happy and beautiful. Is there any chance you tell us how to take care of plants in Florida to reach similar results? Soil amending, watering, fertilizing schedule, etc. Please and thank you!

I just found your channel and have been binge-watching since. 🤩 You do phenomenal work 👏 Award-winning is definitely apparent in your work. I have always admired and fallen in love with your guy's tropical landscapes and gorgeous plant/shrub/tree selections. Unfortunately, my location keeps me as just an admirer because if I could, I most definitely would. But tropical doesn't work in the desert. 😂 I'm in Phoenix where it's far too hot and dry for anything tropical to thrive. If perhaps there are a few options that could I'd be very interested in giving them a shot. Any suggestions? 😊 🙏

I wish I could help, but that area is far from my strong suit. I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos and the inspiration and I hope one day you get to create that perfect little slice of tropical foliage, in whatever part of the world you’re in. Im pulling for you, best of luck to you.

Love these ideas-beautifully done! My side yards are more along the 7’ wide variety, but the concepts still work. Thanks for the video!

My side yard is shared with my neighbor and there is no fence separating the two properties. They have very large oak trees in their back yard and the roots of these trees have come over to my side yard causing a tripping hazard. After removing these roots, it left me with a sand pit. Nothing grows in this side yard because of the canopy of the oaks. My yard guy also has to use this side yard to gain access to the back yard. I’m in such a quandary as to what to do with this side yard. 😢. I have such side yard envy when I watch different you tubers and their side yard garden videos.

Hello Pat, that sounds like a tough situation. I wish I had good advice for it. Unfortunately I have a side yard on my opposite side that’s a similar situation and the best that I can do is keep it accessible for when I have maintenance and work done kind of like you are doing best of luck to you.

Hello. Hope I haven't misunderstood your situation. Have you looked at any videos/tutorials on shade gardens? I've seen some beautiful shade gardens, some are even moon gardens. There are probably plenty of shrubs, flowers and grasses that would do well in the shade in your garden zone and you can include a stone path or sth for your staff

I live in Sarasota and have spent the last several years in developing my taller structural plants; palms etc. I now need to concentrate on the mid height and ground cover. Can you tell me how you have your irrigation setup for your garden? I'm on city water so conservation is key to me so I stalled a drip hose around the lot with drippers on most plants. However, especially this year, I've had a lot of problem with fungus and root rot, so I'm changing out most drippers for sprayers.
@stylewithlivingart10 ай бұрын
That’s a good call sprayers healthy for the plants. They do a good job of helping keep the pests away as well. Check out my latest video I talk about that in my queue in a section you might find it helpful. Best of luck to you.

You can tell privacy was high on their priority list, and from your plant choices, you delivered. I know you are a fan of foxtail palms, but what do you think of Sylvester Palms? I live in SW Fla and my 2 Sylvester Palms did very well during Hurricane Ian. They have become very popular here from their hurricane performance. Queen Palms performed very poorly, but I think they are the ugliest palm trees.
@stylewithlivingart10 ай бұрын
I love Sylvester palms I think there’s very few palms that can make a statement being just one palm like they do. However, until there’s a better cure for the disease, they potentially get as they age I’m not as comfortable using them in future landscapes.

What do you think about pink muhly grass around a foxtail palm? I lost my Jacaranda to hurricane Ian and have been wanting to grow a foxtail.
@stylewithlivingart11 ай бұрын
I love pink Muhly grass. I always appreciate the movement it offers in a landscape. I wish it bloomed a little more often, then I would use it more than I do. They are a great understory planting 👍🏻

what if your side yard is a leach field for septic? can you plant there ?
@stylewithlivingart11 ай бұрын
Yes, however you have to be aware of where the field ends and begins. The best thing to do would be to install a root barrier. The product called Bio Barrier is what I used along my leech field in my front yard to protect it from all the palms I have just outside the drain field. The name of the co I got mine from is Landscape discount.com and the product is called bio barrier. No affiliation I just happen to like the product.

What if you need privacy and its a narrow steep (wet) slope beside a septic drain field ? any plant suggestions?
@stylewithlivingart6 ай бұрын
That’s a tough one. If it’s narrow, I’d use something like clumping bamboo. I like the variety graceful definitely use a root barrier along the area of the septic tank, but they grow nice tall, narrow, and really become dense in wet areas and can handle sun or shade. Make sure to stay with the clumping varieties not the running varieties of bamboo, the running varieties, give All bamboo a bad name. Good luck.

Doesn't callusias grow like trees? I've seen them like 15ft tall
@stylewithlivingart11 ай бұрын
Absolutely, they can grow as tall as you let them. However they can be maintained as small as 4-5ft tall without becoming a woody hedge with only coverage at the top.

@@stylewithlivingart I saw a home out in Miami with a wall made of clusia. They must have been 20ft high. They looked like trees. The owners made a commercial landscaping company bring out a special trimming TRACTOR that had an arm that could reach all the way to the top in order to trim it flat as it slowly rolled forward. It was crazy. The home was easily 50-60 million dollars. About 10,000sqft and a 5 acre lot.
